I had just purchased a new Citizen watch and it was too tight - Sarah immediately made me feel at home and took my new watch in the back to add a link back in for me. Mind you, this jeweler does not even offer Citizen watches. They didn't make me feel "less than", and they were extremely friendly and helpful. Sarah even let me try on a $5,000 Breitling while I waiting for my watch to be adjusted. The icing on the cake was when I asked how much I owed them, and she refused payment and said it was on the house. I wanted to surprise my husband with a new watch for our 10th anniversary, however, I had know idea what I wanted to get him. Due to Covid, I couldn't browse stores until I found something - I had to rely on pics which can sometimes be deceiving. The staff at R.F Moeller were great to work with. I had several phone, text and e-mail conversations with Rachel. She was extremely responsive and knowledgeable. When I thought I settled on a watch I liked I scheduled an appointment to come into the store. Unfortunately Rachel was out due to an injury, but Nancy took over and helped me find the perfect watch for my husband. He absolutely loved it. Because he's a big guy, we had to go back and get extra links for his watch, which Nancy delivered to our home within a few days. My husband actually bought me a new ring for our anniversary (from a different jewler) but the ring didn't fit in my wedding jacket. We scheduled an appointment and took it in to R.F. Moeller. Both Nancy & Rachel were at the store and we had a wonderful time talking with them. I told them what we were trying to achieve with my ring and they created a stunning piece by opening up the top the jacket to accommodate the new ring and soldering the jacket and ring together. Utterly terrible, rotten experience. I brought a chain ID ring in for sizing and they agreed that they could make the partial link on each side of the ID plate smaller. When I got the ring back, the goldsmith had only done one side, so the ring was asymmetric. They did offer to "make it right" if I brought it back in, which I did. (I should mention that this was a brand new ring when I brought it in, but when I picked it up the plate was scuffed/scratched from it being in the workshop; they did not even bother to buff it out.) After I picked the ring up for the second time, I inspected it at home. They had done nothing. Zero. Nada. Same ring--no change. No explanation from the goldsmith or anyone else. I also should mention that before I left I told one of the women that I have an anniversary coming up and I was interested in looking at some gold earrings. Truly, she could not have been more disinterested, cold or unfriendly when showing me earrings. It was truly amazing to feel that she could not have cared less whether I bought anything. I still don't know what to make of this whole experience. I can only think that since I was "only" coming in with a sterling silver ring for a sizing that I was immediately marked as someone that they don't give a crap about. After such a great experience with finding the perfect setting for my engagement ring, I was a little disappointed with how looking for a wedding band went with R.F. Moeller. We were given a rough price estimate on a band from the same line as my engagement ring setting in yellow gold. After a month and a half the band came in white gold. When we expressed that we'd like to see it in yellow gold before making a purchase we were told that they could arrange that or even have it made if necessary. Another month or so went by and it came in yellow gold and considerably higher that than the original estimate we were given. Our salesman assured us there were options to make the band less expensive in design. After 4+ months of back and forth and periods of being forgotten about I was eventually told that that the options after all wouldn't make the ring any less expensive. As I'm sure it traditionally goes, my husband's wedding band shopping experience was nearly effortless in comparison to mine. He found a ring that he liked in the case at R.F. Moeller. It came within 2 weeks. He had it re-sized and ready for pick up within a few days after that. read more

I came looking for help with multiple ring settings and resizing. Patrick was knowledgeable, patient, and helped me with all of my questions. I had two rings enlarged. I had a diamond from a family wedding ring removed and reset in another updated ring. I had a semi-precious topaz placed then in the family wedding ring. Patrick was willing to see if they could polish a stone in another antique ring and kept me up to date with all of the progress. I was especially pleased that they were able to save the inside engraving on my wedding ring when it was resized. I went in knowing exactly what i wanted and had an idea of how much i was going to/wanted to spend (claddagh ring with a diamond/emerald in place of the heart). Matt (coincidentally) was my salesperson. Listened to me for about 3 seconds before realizing i wasn't screwing around and pulled up their manufacturer website to show me what they had available. He ended up ordering the two that i liked best and had both ordered in, fast forward ~1 week. Me and the soon-to-be's best friend go in to look and decide on one, reasonable price for a white gold claddagh. Their jeweler cuts the heart out and places a CZ in place due to an impending trip abroad and not wanting to carry around a brand new white gold ring with a big stone. If the ring were the only factor in her saying "yes" i think it would have worked out perfectly. I love the customization and the ring. What ended up happening however, was that I was treated by Jim & Chad as if I was one of their friends from years ago in college. They were that genuine, accommodating, professional and fantastic. What I most appreciated was that I never felt as if they were simply trying to make a sale. Instead, they took the time to listen to me and what I was looking for, and responded accordingly. When I told them I had been through the "4 C's" presentation at a few other places, they acknowledged that, and breezed through it, pointing out only a few differences. When I told them my price range for a diamond, they actually listened, and at my next appointment, they had three good choices, all well within my budget. I was looking for a specific ring design, and they stated they could have it ordered within 4-6 weeks. They got the ring in within 2 weeks. Just a completely outstanding experience. The policy to exchange and upgrade while never losing original value is not seen at any other jeweler that I have ever experienced. Their staff is polite and absolutely NO PRESSURE. I visited the St. Paul store on Ford Parkway and was greeted by a very friendly staff person (Tom), who was eager to help, but not pushy in any way. I was casually looking for a new automatic men's watch. Tom gave me a tour of their collection, which is covers 4-5 brands, mainly Rolex and their sister company Tudor, Tag, Shinola and Raymond Weil. The watch styles were fairly standard, so it didn't appear they are going after a younger audience (other than Shinola). I was looking for a skeleton dial, which they had none. Tom allowed me to test out several watches, and gave me some interesting history on Rolex. I wasn't ready to drop $5-10k on a watch, so continued on my day. This review is long overdue, as my experience with Moeller Jeweler took place some years ago. I took a valuable piece of estate jewelry--a 2.5 carat diamond and platinum ring from the 1920s--in to Moeller for prong repair. It seemed like a high-class place--and I could see they had several pieces of estate jewelry in their case--so I assumed they could handle a simple prong repair. Unfortunately, this was a huge mistake. When I picked up the ring, I was horrified by what I saw. My beautiful ring was unrecognizable. The prongs had been made larger, and there were globs of white gold evident on the crown of this platinum ring. Some of the many small diamonds that were set into the platinum crown were now actually embedded in white gold. And even worse, the overall shape of the setting was different. The sides had formerly fanned out from the band as they approached the large center diamond, but now they were compressed inward! Mind you, I didn't authorize any work other than fixing the prongs. I expressed my great displeasure at the time, and the repair person was brought out to speak to me. He actually apologized for the poor work he had done. I was in shock, and told them I would be in touch the next day to discuss where to go from here. The next day, I met with the manager, Bob Moeller, who offered to give me a new setting for my diamond. Of course it couldn't make up for the loss of my ring--one that had huge sentimental value because it had belonged to my great aunt, after whom I was named. However, I knew I couldn't even bear to look at the ring without feeling sick about it, so I agreed. I told him I would be in the following week to choose another setting. When I returned the following week, he was not available. In fact, he was never available, nor did he return my many phone calls. I also wrote a letter and got no response. I had small children at the time, and unfortunately did not have the time and energy to pursue legal action on the matter. I regret I missed this opportunity. I put the ring away because I couldn't bear to see it and be reminded of my loss of this beautiful family heirloom. A few years later, on a whim when I had a little time, I called Moeller Jeweler, and spoke to someone who identified himself as the manager, and who told me Bob Moeller was no longer with the company. I told him my tale. I didn't really expect any action, but I did hope that perhaps they might just try to make a gesture on my behalf. The man I spoke to seemed genuinely concerned about my story, and told me he would love to be given the opportunity to make things right and provide a new setting for my diamond. He told me he was heading out of town the next day, but would call me the next week when he returned. He didn't call me, so I called him. Just like my earlier experience with his predecessor, he never returned my calls, nor was he ever available when I stopped in. At that point, I knew I'd never get satisfaction from Moeller. Just now, I took my damaged ring to a highly reputable jeweler in Bloomington for repair. The damaged crown was irreparable and had to be removed because of all the white gold gobbed onto the platinum. We could only salvage the band, but this repair person did a spectacular job of joining the old band with some of the detailing and diamonds to a new crown. We moved the large old diamond to a new setting. I am finally able to wear my rings again. Please: D not take a valuable piece to Moeller for repair. Not only do you run the risk that the piece may be irreparably damaged, but if there is a problem, do not expect them to honor their own promises to make things right. It's incomprehensible to me that these people are still in business the way they operate. read more
