I just called this business and they gave me a quote over the phone. Now most businesses won't do that and want you to come in so they try low balling you out of a piece of jewelry. This is a great business and told me they'd offer me $1,540.00 for my solid 14k gold bracelet. Which has a total of 68-grams of 14k on 11/19/2019. Now gold prices fluctuate all the time so keep that in mine but can't recommend this business WE Mowrey enough. Now the GoldGuys offered me $700-$900 for the same piece and walked out on him. They're crooks, nothing more, and make sure you do your research. I collect fine gold for a living but some of those who buy gold are not honest at all. The reviews that I had read in advance were right, they are the best place to sell gold, silver, precious metals, and diamonds. I even learned a few helpful tips about precious metals and stones from the staff member and another customer! If you have some rings/bangles/necklaces sitting around taking up space that also happen to be silver or gold this is the place to bring them to get some money from your spring cleaning. The great thing is that if it has a silver mark, they pretty much take the mark at its mark. If things aren't marked they will ask you if they can take a file to it to do an assay test to see if it is what they are looking for. I know in the past they were written up by the Strib as being among the best places to bring your gold in to sell - meaning they give you the most $$ for your valuables. Be sure to have valid ID with you as that will be needed to issue a check to you. For obvious reasons they don't pay out in cash as that would be a huge attraction for the unsavory elements. I had platinum & gold ring I was done with. Craig & Bob exceeded my expectations. I'm more than a bit skeptical of this industry: laypeople like me at their mercy. After giving myself primer of 'spot-price', 'penny-weight', etc. I called them first then 5-6 other shops. They had best price for gold and matched (close) best price I found for platinum. Once arriving they used lab grade X-ray Fluoresce (XRF) instrument to grade metals and had honesty to profess premium grades of 95/5 pure platinum and 18k gold for my ring when they could have claimed lower grades. After weighing ring at 10.5dwt on countertop balance Craig readily & calmly humored my skeptic's request for calibration papers on the countertop balance by using lab's electronic balance that's calibrated annually, and came back saying 10.56dwt. He could have fudged low by saying 10.5, but he didn't. He/we did the math long hand - not some fuzzy, fast confusing calculator action crap - and he never rounded down. Nothing smarmy about these guys. I'll add they found someone had left behind a drivers license while I was there. They took the time to try Internet search her phone to give her courtesy notice they found her license before mailing it. Good stuff, eh? Honest and conscience. 10mins after I came in with my guard up I walked out with a check I knew was fair & good memories of Craig & Bob. I cannot imagine going anywhere else for this seemingly shady industry where flashy, loud & obnoxious commercials are the norm. Go with confidence you'll get a fair deal. read more
