We had a 50-55 minute learning session on DOGs from their culture, through the do's & don'ts, then we brought Maximus in and slowly applied the training methods. Maximus is more calm & less "high-strung", listens better, responds to me better, seems happier than before K9 Mentor training. PLUS, his aggressiveness has seemed to diminish greatly since the training session. Mike's training is simple, straight-forward, easy to learn (& eventually master) methods. Our dog would jump on us, nibble on us, chase after anything blowing in the wind (nearly taking off our arms), and would never listen to our commands although he knew them well. My husband and I hired a different trainer (with good reviews) before Matt and he basically told us to get toys and play hide and seek with his dog food to mentally drain his energy. That lasted for like a week and we were back at square one. Then everything changed once we hired Matt. Our dog did the 4 week program. What was effective about Matt's training is that he would come and pick up our dog to do training around our neighborhood. This makes so much more sense than to send a dogs to a boarding facility which they may be great there but then right back to their bad habits once they return home. We noticed a huge difference after just only a few days. Matt taught our dog leash manners, how to remain focus despite distractions and how to listen and follow commands. Before Matt's training, it was difficult to walk our dog in high traffic areas and it seemed easier and less stressful to just allow him to stay home. Now our dog can enjoy his life to the fullest because we can take him to places confidently knowing that he is going to behave properly. Abigail was attacked by 2 large dogs at 5 months that lead to fear and insecurities, then at 8 months she was attacked by a coyote while we were on a walk that resulted in leash aggression and more insecurities, fear of other dogs. Meeting Ryan has literally changed my and Abigail's life--she is a whole new dog. I could see major improvements after only our second  2 hour training session. Ryan has been excellent at teaching us proper leash techniques and manners, ways to redirect her attention from aggression against other dogs and even how to boost her confidence. I found Your Dog Trainer online and learned later on that we have a family friend that goes to day camp here as well. I wasn't really looking to invest as much as I did into the Boot Camp but my partner and I have no regrets. Our first meet and greet session with Jeff was excellent. He asked us initial questions about Bean and what she's like at home and where she stands in the training process. From there we went on a two week long vacation out of the country and wouldn't have her for another 25 days. During our days without Bean, I can definitely say that I missed her SO much! I'm sure every doggy lover can attest to this. But as often as I asked and even when I wouldn't ask - the team from Your Dog Trainer would send me updates on her new doggy friends, how her progress is with training, and any pictures. I felt like I was apart of the process and I didn't feel left out. I trusted that they were taking great care of her. When I came back from vacation, I had a few training sessions with Jeff. I really respect Jeff and can see why he is so successful at what he does. I was excited to see the progress he made with Bean. Bean was already a great puppy.
