I can't say enough good things about Amanda. She's knowledgeable, patient, understanding of dogs (and their humans). She taught me how to look at my dog and pick up on the signals he was going to react to something, and then get his attention before it escalated to the point of barking and lunging. With continued practice at home, each session has allowed him to grow and improve. She even suggested going to a park together to expose him to lots of different stimuli which was super helpful. Amanda works miracles! We have a 5 year old, 90 lb, super energetic boxer who we love..... but he was impossible to walk! He pulled so hard sometimes i thought he would rip my arm out of my socket. Not only did he pull but he was super aggressive if another dog walked by. He loved being walked but it got so bad we just couldn't take him anymore. Amanda saved us! In just 6 weeks using her methods of positive reinforcement Gus can now walk on a leash leaving slack and ignore other dogs on our walk. I never thought this would have even been possible. We went from using a choke collar where Gus would choke himself to a regular harness with no issues. Best money ever spent! Amanda is absolutely the BEST! I got my little teacup chihuahua a little over a year ago as a rescue. When I first got her, she really didn't know anything about behaving well but she was sweet and eager to please. I found Amanda online and called her to come teach my pup some manners. It's been great! Kiwi has really responded well to her training. As a result of Amanda's training, Kiwi is now much calmer and sweeter when guests arrive, she's not as afraid of strangers, she can sit, lay down, dance, leave it and she's working on not barking her head off at dogs when we go on walks. Amanda is a miracle worker with puppies! We signed our puppy up for her board and train program when we had to be away from home for two weeks. This was hands down the best experience for our little guy. He is a rambunctious and energetic little 4 month old puppy who struggles with being calm around distractions and some intense puppy biting. Amanda patiently worked with him over the course of his stay and our puppy was almost unrecognizable when we picked him up (in an amazing way!). We have seen major improvements in all areas we had identified ahead of time and asked Amanda to work with him on. She treated him like one of her own pups during his stay which meant he was so happy and engaged the whole time. I can't say enough good things about Amanda. I have known her through dog sports for a few years, and saw how well she trained her own dogs. My older dog is a rescue who had a lot of behavioral issues; many have improved with time and training, but he would have had a leg up had we worked with Amanda at the onset. Now, I have a second dog, who is going through adolescence. While he is outgoing and high energy and cute as a button, he was also going down the road of developing bad behaviors. Me: what's that in your mouth? Him: I'm going to go run away now. Me: come here! Him: catch me if you can! Me: stay! Him: as if! I contacted Amanda to inquire about private lessons to work on establishing positive behaviors with him. Even though Amanda is based in Southern OC and I'm in LA, I contacted her because I know that she not only knows dogs well, and has a lot of education and experience in dog training, but that she is also very intuitive. She gives off a calm energy that my hyperactive dog and my nervy self needed to get out of the downward spiral that we were on. Additionally, she uses positive reinforcement training (versus a correction-based training), which I feel far more comfortable doing. I had met with more local behaviorists and various training schools with my older dog, and didn't feel comfortable returning to any of them with the younger pup. So far I've done three lessons with Amanda, and plan to do more. I am so amazed at how she is able to demonstrate the finished desired behavior (let's say, drop it/give, where the dog spits out the contraband from his mouth), and then breaks it down piece by piece. Each step in building the behavior is fun for the dog. My dog is not only excited to work during the lesson, but is super jazzed to do our "homework" because it's very rewarding to him. She stays calm in explaining how to troubleshoot issues, how to build the behavior from foundations, and how to continue to proof the behavior. Case in point: before a lesson with Amanda, if my dog found some trash on the ground (let's say, a phone charger), he would run off and would not let us near it. Within two weeks, he would immediately spit it out when asked, and come jump in my arms (and then he gets lots of praise/treats). With each of the behaviors we work on, we're also working on the larger relationship building, and I'm noticing a huge change in his attitude. Because Amanda shows us how to "play fair" with the dog, he is encouraged to listen because he knows only good things will happen when he does. He's not offering behaviors out of fear, but rather out of desire. As a result, we are both much happier and are back on a good path. As with any other type of dog training, there are no magic bullets. I don't think any behavior will be perfectly fixed in a lesson. Amanda offers packages (in addition to single lessons), which have a slight discount versus a per-lesson fee. Her pricing is very fair, especially given her natural skill and her experience level. If I'm willing to sit in traffic for 1.5 hours, even though I live in a city where you can spit and hit a dog trainer, I would hope that that's testament enough about how great Amanda is. I will be forever grateful for how much improvement I've already seen in both my dog's behavior and my relationship with my dog. And I look forward to continue working with Amanda as we continue to work on improving my dog's behavior and becoming a great team! read more

I really learned a lot from Amanda. She has helped me with my 2 rescues, both chi's. One of them couldn't even stand to have Amanda in the house when we first started, Now Chiggi can be in the same room & not freak out! It was amazing to see her transform. We still need work & we try to work on things daily. Chewy will now take treats from my husbands hand & not worry too much when he is around, we still need to work on relaxing or going into his crate while at home when he is upset or worried. When Chewy gets to come to work with me, he now knows to go in his crate when worried, or I put him in when I have to leave the office to help a customer, no more crazy barking just because there is someone out there. I am so happy to have found Amanda and Brittany (BQ dog training)! At first our puppy Lucy was very fearful of just about anything outside of our home including people, dogs, stairs, car noises and wind. This made it very challenging to take her on walks because she would freeze in place and cry or hide between our legs. We enrolled in the "puppy class" and after just a few weeks she began to grow into a happy and curious little girl! Brittany and Amanda treated Lucy with so much patience and love and truly met her where she was at. They are very thoughtful with how they organize the class and stay aware of how each puppy seems to be feeling. They helped Lucy practice navigating new areas, walking on stairs (which used to terrify her), and even feeling calm around other dogs. Amanda is wonderful! Our Sandy, a 90 lb. standard poodle-husky mix, was a rescue. She had been abused as a puppy. As she grew, she developed some serious issues. When she was three, we decided to put her in boot camp. That is where we met Amanda, the head trainer. Amanda took a special interest in Sandy and helped us through a very difficult time. Amanda continues to help us with Sandy. We have taken private lessons from Amanda. Amanda, also, dog sits for us when we are out of town. We rescued a 3 yr old Maltese mix; an adorable little white doggie with agression and over protectiveness issues. We knew we needed to do something quickly after she growled and went after my 11 yr old granddaughter. Amanda from Accomplished Canines, knew exactly what was going on! We had used other trainers in the past who brought out bark collars, used choke chains and more fear to get Molly into line. None of this worked and we were at our wits end. Amanda helped explain Molly's fears and behaviour and the reasons behind her actions! She even explained her facial expressions! She trains with love and with treats, compassion and understanding.
