We had to make the very hard and emotional decision to put our pup down this past month. This was…read morenot the first time we have had to say goodbye to a pet, but this dog was different. He and I had a vey strong bond and making this decision was more difficult than any other time in my life. My husband looked around and found Paws and Remember. I am so glad that we made the choice to go through them instead of a different option. They were so kind, considerate, and empathetic. I could tell how much they cared and how they understood my pain. My husband picked up our little guys remains and I was so impressed with everything we received. The box with the remains was so nice, but they also included a lock of our boys hair, some supportive materials, and a bookmark that can be planted to grow flowers in our dogs honor. I just don't have words for how grateful I am. They helped ease our pain and gave us piece of mind that he was in good hands. Thank you all for your kindness!!

My best friend of 17 years, who happened to be a cat (and yes I don't care how stupid that sounds),…read moredied in my arms after 6 months of renal failure several weeks ago. It sucked. Hard. The only thing that sucks harder than having a beloved companion die at home is realizing you now have a deceased friend in your arms and now what. Our wonderful cat vets at Completely Cat Clinic recommended Paw & Remember. My Mom called them (it was the crack of freaking dawn on a Monday - awesome way to start the week) and a very nice lady said, yes, of course, come by and we can help you. I sat in the car and hugged my girl while my Mom went in and dealt with the logistics; they had me come in, and the staff was so kind! Like, hey, good morning, here's a sobbing woman hugging a dead cat in a towel! Hi! But oh man they handled it beautifully. They asked me questions about my cat, gave me tissues because I was a complete disaster, and, when I was ready, I handed her off to a very nice woman who carried her body over to the crematorium. They do individual cremations here; if you're like IN LOVE with your pet like me, that stuff matters, and they take a number of steps to assure you the cremated remains in your lovingly hand-stenciled box (that broke my heart - free of charge, her name stenciled all beautifully on the box) are those of your best friend and not just sweepings of whoever happened to pass that day. They provide you with a care package when you come back to pick up your pet's ashes. It has a little memory book to fill out, with a little bag of fur they clipped from your friend, and a pamphlet about grieving with numbers to call if you're just totally in need of someone to talk to about your loss. Hi, I'm sobbing my way through this review, more than anything because I was so genuinely touched by the kindness and sensitivity of their staff. What lovely, gentle human beings, performing such an unfortunate but helpful service, in literally *THE* kindest, most loving way possible. It's surprising to feel comforted and so well taken care of by strangers when you're enduring such a personal, hard to articulate loss, but these are the best strangers possible. I can't recommend them highly enough. It's a sad job but I am so grateful these wonderful people are here to do it.

We called and left a voicemail. Lost in our sorrow we had no idea what we were doing or what to do with her seven pounds of love we lost. I expected to have her in her tiny hand held kennel for the night. Crushing us once again. We decided we wanted a foot print and prepared to race to Hobby Lobby but again Sunday. They were closed. We were sitting in the driveway and the phone rang. Tom called saying he stopped in by chance and hear our voice mail. He said he would stay if we wanted to bring our sweet baby out. I told him we had her and were looking for a place to get her foot print. He had a kit that was instant. We raced out and this amazing gentleman with a heart of gold and a soft beautiful voice. He made the paw print right there. It was heartbreakingly beautiful. He gently gathered information and our Mollie. We cried and he comforted us. Today he called and we picked her up. The oak urn was beautiful and our hearts felt healing. She's home. We are heartbroken but Tom was a gift from God. Thank you for being there for us in our time of need. May God bless you and forever keep you safe and allow you to be there for others.

Rolling Acres was a comfort to us. We were so happy we found a place that allowed us to keep her cremains. They were attentive, sensitive, and it was outside the city in a beautiful setting. We dropped our girl off, and she was ready for pick up the next day. I had never had any experience with cremation before and was not sure what to expect. Rolling Acres offers a group or individual cremation, and we chose the latter. They charge by animal weight. It was fair, and affordable. They will pick up from the vet, or you can take your pet out to them. Her remains were in a box about the size of a large cupcake, but heavier. Our girl was 22lbs. We recommend Rolling Acres, and are so glad to have a remembrance.

Every animal I've adopted here (3 now) has either had wringworm, fleas, or both…read more I was charged with a $50 fee that is non refundable and now they're trying to offer me a $20 credit for an animal infested with fleas. Why on Earth would I want to adopt another animal from this facility given the gross negligence? What respectable animal shelter doesn't confirm/test for these kinds of issues prior to putting an animal up for adoption? I'd also like to add that the front desk staff (the welcome desk, not the folks in the back - they are very friendly) are incredibly rude. Consistently every time I've come in here, the social skills and public service has been horrific. I will no longer be adopting pets from this facility. They set the animals up for failure.

Recently I went to adopt a dog after my mother's passing. I had looked on their website at the dogs…read morethat they currently had, and found a few that seemed like they might be a good fit. I was only looking at dogs that said "good with other dogs" and had no mentions of needing to meet resident dogs, as I live in an apartment complex with many other dogs, and knew I needed a dog that could walk past them in the hallway without putting anyone in an unsafe situation. When I got to the shelter, I immediately found one of the dogs that I had seen online, and wanted to meet her. On her "report card" on the kennel, it stated "good with other dogs". When I met her, I was told about a medical issue that she had, but it was something that was taken care of. I also asked if she had any other medical issues, specifically allergies because of her color, and the staff said that there were no mentions on her paperwork of allergies. I loved the dog, and made plans to come back the next morning to adopt her. When I returned the next day, I talked with the staff about wanting to see her and adopt her that day. The staff asked if I would still like to hear about her since I heard about her the day before, and I said yes just to hear it all again. The staff member I spoke to started telling me about how she had very severe allergies and skin issues when she arrived. They didn't know anything about the medical issue I was originally told about, and it took them about 5 minutes to find it in her paperwork (the medical issue she had involved an intense surgery, so I was surprised that information was so hidden). When they found the paperwork, I was also told she had GDV when she first arrived as well. I was surprised on how much wasn't told to me the day prior, but I was still happy to move forward with the adoption. We brought her to the meet room and started working through getting her ready to go. That is when I was told she had "barked at another dog" while on a walk with a volunteer. I asked what that looked like, and if she had lunged or just barked, and the staff member told me that on her paperwork, it stated that she just barked, and did not lunged or move towards the other dog. I was now a little confused, but since the staff member told me that she had just barked, I assumed that it was a typical dog "hello". As we were leaving the meet room to go get her paperwork done and take her home, we walked up to the front where another dog was at the counter. When the staff member saw the other dog, they tried to steer us away from them. Knowing that she barks at other dogs, I wanted to see what that looked like. When she saw the other dog, she started to bare teeth, low bark and low growl at the other dog, as well as jumping and lunging towards them. That is when I realized that this would not be a good fit. I attempted to hand her back to the staff member, who tried to convince me to continue to go through with the adoption, until she finally took her back. I felt awful, and assumed that the reason I was told she was good with other dogs, and did not lunge at other dogs is because the shelter did not know (because again, the staff member I spoke to specifically told me there was nothing on her paperwork to indicate that she lunged at other dogs). I went up to the counter to let them know about our interaction, and was told that their "report cards" are not accurate and are not meant to be accurate, and that her paperwork DOES say that she lunges at other dogs. I have been keeping tabs on the dogs listing to see if it ever got changed, and after 3 weeks it now says "must meet resident dogs in the home" and "selective with other dogs". I am hoping that it didn't take an adoption failure to add that to her profile. Please be cautious adopting from them, as I was told specifically that they do not keep the dogs information accurate, and will tell you things that are untrue about the dog in order to get them into a home.

The woman vet on the other hand told me my cat had some neurological issues and that finding out what exactly was wrong would be thousands of dollars and didn't give me much explanation. When I asked if putting her down was the humane thing to do, she just kept going in circles. Now I know that vets can't give an ultimate recommendation to put any animal down, but they can give you an idea what quality of life might look like if you chose to keep your pet alive. I felt pressured to make the decision to put her down because I truly believed she was suffering and the options I was basically given was euthanasia or thousands of dollars which I couldn't afford. Now I beat myself up because I wonder if I should've gotten a second opinion the next day or tried to bring her home. I feel like this place just wants your money. They also said there was an option to "pay what you can" for cremation and euthanasia and then before they'd even put my cat to rest we had the front desk come in and basically tell us to pay the full price now or they wouldn't do it. I was visibly distraught and kept asking over and over if this was the right thing to do and the veterinarian just kept shrugging at me. I felt like she had no empathy or sympathy for the situation. She seemed annoyed to even be there. A piece of me died with her that night, and I think i'll have "what ifs", doubts and guilt for the rest of my life.
