When the ownership of Best Buy Drugs changed hands a few years ago, becoming PAX 2 Pharmacy, Sierra Madre faced a real problem. It's a small town and set in our ways. The community is admirably resistant to chain stores (the one survivor can be found dispensing charred, overpriced coffee worldwide), and if PAX had not decided to move here we may instead have had one of the indistinguishable chain drug outlets. Instead we now have a splendid example of a superior, locally-owned business that is both professionally top-notch (I'm a geezer; I know what I'm talking about) and exquisitely attentive to its clientele. The pharmacist/owner, Bella, has a comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy, naturally, but is attuned to her customers. She has retained the staff who have been here for years, and brought in some outstanding people as needed. In short, even if I lived in Pasadena, I would still trek to Sierra Madre in order to get the sort of personal attention you receive here. read more

This pharmacy changed owners and the lady who used to give me the stink-eye no longer works there. This has made all the difference! Truly terrible pharmacy and owner. Was a customer for years at Best Buy and was very well cared for by Paul and his wonderful staff. Since this outfit took over the business has gone downhill. Bella, the owner, is the rudest and most irresponsible pharmacist I have ever encountered.
