I will continue to say that the initial interaction with the place of business was poor. The information on the website at the time of my visit was not correct, the information received on the phone was not correct. Secondhand information after the fact was provided. From there the already poorly handled interaction was handled even worse. Read this guys replies of my review and all other negative reviews. Rather than have accountability to the consumer he pushes blame off to our reviews based off of opinions and experiences are wrong. Barely five minutes into the second class, the sensei warned us that "this probably isn't going to work" because our kids were not immediately following his directions. 5 minutes later he kicked them out of class and told us not to come back. This, even though by that point they did seem to be doing what he told them to do. The problem seemed to be that this "family class", which we were told was the right starting point for children, is really aimed at teenagers. In the class tonight were our 7 year olds and two high school students who had been practicing karate for quite some time. I fully understand why that is a difficult mix. Karate is about learning discipline. At Tolson's, it seems the expectation is that you're already disciplined before you walk in the door, even when you're 7. I'm a (lapsed) black belt in Shotokan karate, and taught children's classes for years. I'm currently a soccer coach for a U7 soccer team. "Instantly giving up on my students" would generally not be seen as a desirable teaching or leadership strategy, and it's not one that I've ever employed. Maybe the expectations are higher for an unpaid coach of eight 7 year old soccer players than they are for a paid karate teacher with two of them? "Sensei" is Japanese for "teacher", but I'm not sure the Japanese phrase for "expecting students who have nothing to learn". I definitely would not recommend this place for children, though it seems fine for young adults.

Therefore, I thought Wednesday was a perfect day since charles county schools had a half of day. It was a cloudy, rainy, & gloomy day but once we got there and up until we left there was no rain. God is good! Parking was ample and directions was easy to find. We were greeted by Josh and he was awesome. He got us checked in quickly and explained all directions/safety requirements to us. Oh can I mentioned he was very patient and knowledgeable. We had the entire place to ourselves and Josh lead our boys (11 & 12 year olds) the whole time. There were many courses he took them on. The moms got to relax, conversate, and watch as he took care of everything. We were there for about a hour with the 500 paintballs package. The boys had a great time as it was their first experience and we look forward to coming back. The only wish is for the company to offer discounts /longer hours during the week as prices can be a little heafty. For example, have special evening/nights that consist of (ladies night only, gentlemen night only, mom & me or dad & me night only, parents vs kids night, half off night only, student discount night w/ report card or studentvue verification ,etc) Thanks SMP
