They do it right at "The Peak". Every employee you come in contact with is super friendly. They make you feel like you are at their house and they are glad you stopped by. Good selection of food. Certainly 3-star (A-OK) worthy. Saw Pearl Jam at the arena last week and it was fantastic. GA seats so we had a killer view. But overall, I thought the CEA was pretty on par with most other big-city arenas I've been to. And that's not a bad thing - just nothing super spectacular about this place. Easy to find, park and get around, lots of drink stations, not a super selection of beers but cocktails were available, so no biggie. It's a pretty run of the mill arena - definitely worth seeing a show or game here. read more

Great place for a basketball game, but not so good for a concert. We attended the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert. Acoustics are not very good and the seats/knee room are too tight for a two hour concert. If you have a large person next to you, it can be pretty miserable. At a Thunder game, you are at least standing part of the time so you get to move a bit. I would much rather attend a concert at BOK in Tulsa - wider seats, better knee room, a cup holder. I think the sounds are better as well. read more

What's not to love? You show up here because you have tickets to something you and your friends like to do, in many cases, a killer Thunder game. It's Oklahoma City, so nearby parking is plentiful and affordable. The staff is efficient and helpful, and they have their system figured out: one person uses a hand held metal detector, the next staffer checks the inside of your bag, and the last person scans your ticket. Once you're inside, you'll get more of the same: helpful, friendly employees who get you through the concession lines quickly. Concessions are not cheap, but they are on par with other big sporting events, so no surprises there. The arena itself is nice, new, modern, and up to snuff for one of the NBA's best, newest teams. The seats are nice, the restrooms are nice, new and always clean. I've never been in a restroom at the 'peake that wasn't up to snuff. I'm a fan. I'm a Thunder fan, I love to see the development it has brought to downtown and Bricktown. I love hype, I love anything that gets this many Oklahomans cheering for the same thing. So, for all those reasons, I'm a big fan of the arena itself. read more

I think our arena is great enough to deserve 5 stars! I'm sure if I was really picky I could figure out a way to knock it down to 4, but they do so many things right here I think the 5 star rating is fitting! I've only ever been here for Thunder games, and they have this down to a science. Security lines never take too long, all the security searchers are always super nice and seem to like their job! A smiling face is a great way to enter the arena for a night of fun! The Thunder gear shop can get a little crowded, but the checkout process goes really fast. They have the shop staffed with plenty of checkers and helpers to help you find the size you need! The bathrooms are always very clean, and I don't think I've ever had to wait in line. They also get a special shout out for having paper towels instead of just hand dryers, this is probably pretty wasteful but can we all agree that hand dryers are the absolute worst? The food/drink selection is also very great with all sorts of options! Even at half time the lines aren't bad at all. Of course its going to be pricey but that is typical of any sports arena. Once you get to your seat you are bound to have a great time. The seats are very clean (not much leg space but I'm there to watch a game, not take a nap so its alright). The arena itself is pretty clean. The games are very entertaining, and even during between quarters and timeouts they go a good job of keeping you entertained through games and such! The only drawback of "The Peake" I can think of is the horrible cell phone certain I get in there. I usually can't even send text messages while in there. But I kind of like it, less distractions = more focus on the game! Go Thunder!! read more

It's a venue for games and concerts and such, sooo. It's spacious and easy to navigate. Like any establishment of this sort, the food is crazy. But the nachos I had were pretty decent, so there's that. I went there for a TSO concert, and I gotta say, the seating is... comfortable? Especially if you like getting to know your neighbors. It's very, very close together so that's weird. There was very little arm/leg room. I've decided to not eat food while sitting in the arena because I was under the constant fear of spilling cheesy nachos on this nice lady's hair. read more

Caught a Hornets NBA game while I was in town. The venue is quite modern ( I think built in 2002) and large (20K?). There's plenty of paking around the area and there's fairly easy access into and out of the venue. It's cool to see the city embrace the Hornets after all that had happened in New Orleans. I checked out a Pearl Jam concert at Chesapeake Energy Arenaa couple of weeks ago and thought it was a good venue for a show. We had GA seats in the pit so the sights and sounds were top notch that close. The people working there all seemed very nice, as were most of the people I met. I just have a couple of suggestions to make it better. First, get some microbrews added to the drink options. For the show it was Bud or Coors at all the places we saw on the concourse, and the specialty beer spot looked to just have a few kinds of Mexican beer in bottles. I say keep everything you have and add some islands on the concourse with some good (maybe local!) ales on tap. The second suggestion is to have a set taxi stand, or area cabs can get close to the venue. When we got out of the show we had to walk a couple of blocks to get out of the cordoned off area. I was told by a couple of locals that cabs are lacking in numbers in OKC so maybe that has something to do with it. read more

The Chesapeake Arena never disappoints. It is always prepped & ready for any event with a great staff to greet & help direct people. The bathrooms are always clean, stocked & ready for the crowd--the same goes for the bars! There is a ton of (paid) parking and several entrances/exits to accommodate the masses. My first Thunder game was a success...aside from my team (the Bulls) losing. But that was expected this season... The stadium is super easy to get in and out of - there are plenty of stairways and section entrances to get you to your seats in a timely manner. I cannot comment on parking because we walked from our hotel, but it seemed like cars were getting out pretty quickly along our walk back. The fans never gave me crap for my opposing-team garb, but were otherwise surprisingly annoying (I have no idea why). Bathrooms were large and clean throughout the game. Even the cheap seats have decent views, as the place is large but not overwhelmingly huge. Food and drink, however, seemed quite poor - bad beer selection, and the food was pretty nasty. I wouldn't eat here again for sure. read more

Well maybe a win could have made the night better BUT it was still so much fun. They really do a great job of making an experience when you go here. There's food, drinks, snacks, pretty much anything you could want to munch on during a game. I am always impressed with the effort that goes into hosting a huge event. Chesapeake does it right every single time. We are avid Thunder fans and catch as many games a year as we can. It's becomes a huge family affair - towing the husband, kids AND in-laws. Our last game was absolutely exceptional. We love Nick Collins - LOVE LOVE LOVE him so we were not about to miss the retirement of his jersey. As always, the Thunder in cooperation with Chesapeake, rolled out the red carpet. There was sign making for the kids, free face painting, posters, collectibles, pictures with the Thunder girls and more. The air was so thick with excitement! The food options are also great. I've been on a strict Keto diet and you can always find something for everyone. Burgers, beer, chicken, nachos, fries, salad, soda, popcorn and candy - you name it and you can probably find it. I appreciate the small things that go on in the background that really make the evening shine. There are people getting you pumped - people cleaning your messes up, people serving you, handing out posters and guides, giving you directions, taking your family's picture. So many thing that go into a special evening and Chesapeake does it so right. read more

While on a recent business trip go OKC, I met some cool people who had an extra ticket to a OKC Thunder basketball game here. Upon arrival to the arena, I realized that it's right smack in the middle of downtown OKC. I really couldn't distinguish any arena parking lots either. Most of the parking is on the street which is cool but can suck if you're late for your event. The seating can be a bit better only because if someone is intoxicated, there isn't enough protection to prevent them from falling down into the row in front. read more

Let's start out by saying that this venue is about as good as it gets for large indoor sports arenas/concert venues. It's got a really cool 360º LCD screen that flashes Ford animations before the show (and I'm assuming is used for sports stuff). I've seen a lot of venues like it so it doesn't stand out, but doesn't disappoint either. I would give five stars if it weren't for one of the security personnel that worked for the venue. I had a foam hand that had an explicative on it ("Fuck You"). She said I couldn't bring it in. But she only told me minutes before the gate opened and I wouldn't have had time to put it anywhere. Also, it's hilarious that she'd try to censor this when I saw several people with shirts on that had "fuck" written on them. Add to that we were seeing the band Nine Inch Nails whose most famous song Closer has the chorus "I want to fuck you like an animal" and who has a line of t-shirts that say "Starfucker" on them. I guess she doesn't have a clue. Quite literally. But, Mighty Mouse was there to save the day! I put the rather large foam hand down my pants (yes, it was a sight to see) and snuck it in. There was a person who was patting us down looking for weapons and I told him that I had just had groin surgery (no shit!) and said it was a foam protective piece. And guess what, I got it in. My only regret was that after the show I was not able to throw the fact that I smuggled it in the venue in her face. read more

My family and I attended the Winter Jam on April 3,2017. We all had a blast with hearing All of the Artist involved along with about Gods word. The people that are in charge of Keeping the lines straight and working with the Crowd control, ansewring questions both inside and outside,went above the call of duty. I'm handicapped and a gentleman guided Myself and my family too the line where the Other handicap people could enter the arena. Our family and the other family's got into the arena with no problem with finding a place for scooter. Also by the way, we asked where I Probably should park my scooter and we couldn't have been closer to the stage area The best part about this Jamming session was that I was with my family and we got too put Our Lord & Savior first and make our family unit Strong again. read more

Went to see Cirque du Soleil "Dralion" at Chesapeake Arena. The whole experience went flawlessly. The venue is very clean and well-organized and we had no trouble finding parking in the nearby underground lot at Cox. There was a slight snafu with our home-printed tickets, but this was easily resolved and we ended up with a seat upgrade! Not sure if this was Chesapeake's or Ticketmaster's issue, but it worked out well. Extra points for having really clean bathrooms - all too often, many medium to large venues such as this have bathrooms reminiscent of dive bars in Tijuana, but that's not the case here. My only minor complaint is that they didn't have anyplace to feed my coffee addiction (it was pretty cold outside) but that wasn't a big deal. The show itself was fantastic, as usual. I've been to some pretty large stadiums and arenas around the country and I think our Chesapeake stacks up pretty well in comparison. read more

I have been here several times, to catch the OKC Thunder play.. It is always an enjoyable expirence at the game.. The concession stand food prices are reasonable, and they have quite a few vendors to choose from. Everything is organized and easy to navigate, throughout the arena.. If you do go to the game, expect to pay 10-20.00+ for parking.. If you get off on the Robinson St exit.. and your coming down and the arena is on your right, it seems like parking is cheaper on that end vs. coming down the other way where the arena is on your left, by bass pro shop where parking seems to be more expensive. read more

I've been to a number of events, mostly Thunder games and Trans-Siberian Orchestra concerts, at the Peak, and I haven't actually had a bad experience. I've sat up in Loud City during multiple games, moved down to the 200s for a game, and even ventured into the 100s. No matter where I've sat the view is fantastic for the money you're paying into it. If you've ever been to any arena anywhere then you know food and drink prices are astronomical. There's plenty of places around to go eat before the event so I'd definitely suggest taking part in that instead of trying to eat at the arena. read more

Nice building horribly managed. I attended a TSO concert on Dec 10, 2017 and they were extremely ill-prepared for this event. I arrived an hour before the show. Traffic was terrible and no one was directing the drivers... it was "every man for themselves." I finally made my way into the parking garage ($20 cash only at the gate was a bit sketchy and overpriced). I dropped off my family, to get into the security line, and parked. From there, it took 45 minutes to get inside the building. We made it to our seats at 2:56pm for a 3pm show. Half of the seats in the arena were empty because a majority of the crowd was still outside. Incredibly unprofessional! read more

Indeed, the Chesapeake Energy Arena is probably as good as it gets for an entertaining, affordable, convenient, and family safe NBA game or concert. The perfectly located arena opened to the public in 2002 as the Ford Center and it was a key piece of the city's capital improvement Metropolitan Area Project (MAPS) in OKC's central business district. The Cox Convention Center, Bricktown, downtown hotels (The Colcord, The Skirvin, The Sheraton, etc.), and the Myriad Botanical Gardens are all walking distance from the arena. Since this is OKC, parking options are plentiful and cheap (TIP: covered parking at the Cox Convention Center is convenient and safe but you can also find close enough parking downtown for free if you get there about an hour early). The arena itself is still quite modern and somewhat similar to other NBA arena's and they always try to add new features every year (there's a new lounge/patio on level 2 that's quite nice this year). The service is Oklahoma standard great! and most of the new or different food options are on level 1 but you can expect to find the typical options (chicken fingers, hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, nachos, etc.). Also, prices for food and drinks ($7.50 is probably the cheapest draft beer) are comparable to other professional stadiums. read more

This is a wonderful venue, and a pleasant surprise in OKC. You can feel the pride OKC has for the venue and the Thunder. We didn't even go for a game, we went to see Pearl Jam. The sound was great, even in the nose bleeds. Being in the nosebleeds always freaks me out at concerts because some venues can be so steep, I feel like a lot of arenas forget they put on more than just games, and some people do not want to sit during concerts. Our seats were indeed steep, but it wasn't so bad. We had a great view of the stage. Staff was friendly at concessions and the bathrooms were always clean. I really enjoyed this venue and would make the drive again to see a show that was not coming to my hometown. read more

So while in town we got tickets to a thunder game. Whenever I travel I love going to sporting events in different cities it's so much fun. They have lots of really great options for good food and drink prices are not crazy overpriced. Now this arena is a lot smaller than others I've been to their seats are very close together not very much space which when it's very cold and people have lots of jackets in layers on makes it very difficult. And no cupholders this is the first place I've ever been that did not have a cupholder. To be honest that is my biggest pet peeve is that there was no cup holders, I know I'm probably crazy read more

I love concerts. Note: I am reviewing this venue in the eyes of an avid concert goer. Most of the concerts I am used to attending are in small, secluded venues. Before the Ford Center, most of the concerts with a compacity larger than 1000 were held at the Coca Cola Events Center. One of the things I like about the Ford Center is that their events are well organized and the staff appear to know what they are doing. The times I have been here, the doors never open on time and it takes almost an hour, even at the front to get moving past the doors into the building. There are lots of choices regarding food and drink- and we all know that arena concessions are expensive, so I won't bother getting into that. If you are attending a concert, either get floor tickets or at the least, lower level. For some concerts and events the act will have large screens for the audiences whom aren't fortunate enough to be on the floor, if not, you better bring your binoculars. There is so much security and police officers that you actually forget you are going to a concert and began to feel like a prisoner. I can see the reason for the security, but the police- I think that's a little over the top. What really irks me is that after the show, there aren't many ways for you to have any contact with the bands-unlike the smaller venues where all you have to do is wait at the back for the band to get on their tour busses. The sound system is alright but sometimes it overpowers the singer's mic and all you hear are guitars and riffs. The ford center is currently closing it's doors for a few months for renovations, I honestly have no clue what they can possibly tweak anymore. Rather than expand, they should just invest money money into a more high quality sound system. read more
