Fast efficient and beautiful work. I desperately needed a new roof and they got it done quick and saved me so much money. A friend told me about the laundry list of work they have done for him. He buys houses has Payless roofing fix them up then sells them and he has been working with them for years. From my experience with him he hires guys that just need a second chance and have been shunned and turned down every job they apply to. He works with guys that come here on work visas gives them a home and picks every one up for work in the morning. I've seen him give a homeless guy a job he just met on the street that offered to help him with some debris from my roof he asked me if it was ok. He was sober and eager to help and didn't seem to pose any safety risks. Im in social work so of course it was ok. He worked hard and the roof looks amazing. No more leaks! He even moved him into the house he rents for his other workers. Derek has a huge heart , quoted me much lower than other companies and my roof looks awesome. read more

DO NOT HIRE!!! TOTALLY INCOMPETENT and a CROOK!!! Received a $1500 quote, and was assured all requests could easily be done in a few hours. Three days later I had to kick them off my property after realizing they literally had no clue what they were doing. I paid $1000 plus bought all materials including a sanding block, should have been a huge red flag that a professional contractor didn't even have something to sand with, his other company is a drywall company. Everything they touched they either broke or left in worst condition than found. On top of what I gave them and the need to pay a "real contractor" to come in and redo/fix their shoddy "work" I also had to pay for things they broke while they were attempting to do the work they said they could do. NO refund or compensation was offered even after admitting to not doing anything properly. The pictures do not even show all the damage they left behind. A complete and total mess that I had to continue to ask the workers to clean up after themselves. All in I was quoted $1500 and will end up paying almost $4000!!! I really wanted to like this company. I'm so tired of looking for someone reliable. We thought this company was THE ONE. I was relieved for possibly two weeks. We need a contractor here for a very long list of projects and we wanted Payless to be the one. But. It took 8 weeks and now we have a basic shed, wooden entrance steps and a back door. See pics. I didn't want to hire him because when we first met him, he was three hours late without contacting us, but my partner wanted to give him a chance. I contacted him after two hours and some errands and he showed up an hour after THAT. NEVER HIRE SOMEONE THIS DISRESPECTFUL. I think my partner learned a lesson. Derek said he had 29 men working for him and that we would have a shed in a day. The men worked two at a time for FIVE HOURS PER WEEK for six weeks. On three separate occasions he had four or more men here, but not even for full work days. That accounts for the other two weeks. He would say they were coming and they didn't. He would say they would be here in the morning and they would arrive two and a half hours dark. Once he told us they were in our driveway. WE were in our driveway. They weren't in sight. Even though I told him I wanted steps, he was somehow stuck on a ramp and wouldn't listen until I yelled. His guys don't speak English, either, so how could I possibly get a good result? We always had to call him to translate from miles away. I did not have 8 weeks to waste on this guy. The floor should have been done by now, insulation, tree damage . . . I had time to do all of that before it got cold but he took 8 weeks on three small projects and I couldn't schedule anything else because he was never truthful about when his men would be here. It's possible that his men lie to him about where they are. I can't think of any other reason why someone would lie like that. Last Saturday, I told him not to come back. Then like a bully, out of the blue, his guys came on Tuesday, as if he's so belligerent that he had to show a DYING woman who's boss. That's right, I have stage 5 cancer and people in my condition live for about 20 months and he knew that I was trying to fix this place for my bf to live in after I'm dead. He set me back by an entire winter. I'm thinking about haunting him after death if I'm allowed. Hopefully there will be better things to do. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE! We live in a duplex/townhome and they knocked down the partition on the roof, which we never asked them to do. They tried to charge for 1,100 sq ft of roofing and it took me days to get it through to them that there was only 400 sq ft of roofing. They still wanted to charge us the same price for 1,100 sq ft until we fought about it. Their crew tried to frame in a wall when we wanted a cabinet. That was another big mess up but they corrected that. They didn't finish the trim or siding on the sliding glass door and windows they framed in. They knocked a hole in the shared wall during a bathroom demo. They said their plumber was licensed but he clearly isn't bc he made an entire circle out of p-trap drains. Their crew never shows up on time and they barely work a whole day. They charged $800 for a $300 electric job but tried to say $500 of it was materials. Their "electrician" used light switches we had already, the only thing he purchased was a $20 breaker. The light switches weren't the ones needed, that's why I had not installed them. So now they don't work correctly bc they aren't three way switches. They also never provided that guy's license. Yesterday they broke a $452 special order composite stone shower pan bc they were trying to install it on plywood instead of leveler. Derek and his partner Tim never showed up with paperwork I had been waiting over a week for yesterday. I finally terminated them after that incident and told them to get off my property. My experience with Derek and Payless Roofing Solutions has turned into an 11 month nightmare. I hired them to reroof/repair my garage and basement after storm/flood damage. General construction went quickly, but when it came to finishing the projects, work was either done very poorly (interior doors installed on exterior of garage which quickly warped and moulded; two different colors of epoxy poured on the floor; paneling installed incorrectly multiple times) or not at all. One guy would show up for 1-2 hours at 7 o'clock at night once every 1-2 weeks to give the appearance of work moving forward. Derek would constantly give excuses. After months of trying to get them to fix their work or return my money, I fired them and filed a claim with small claims court. To date, he has not fulfilled the terms of the court order, continuing instead to lie and make excuses. read more
