The service works great for us, HOWEVER, this is only because I personally explained to them how their system worked, demanded our rep get fired, and escalated to a senior manager who put another rep on our account who was just bad instead of completely incompetent. The issue came down to the implementation reps literally making dozens of of-a-row database mistakes - which meant each employee would have someone else's elections. Since they insisted their "skilled reps" do the very simple imports, we ended up manually deleting everything and manually adding all employees. All the people struggling - just demand they let you do your own imports. This was all a few years ago. my main gripe today is when I download an excel report, I want a CSV, not the useless PDF format in excel. Why are department summary reports PDF or Excel as PDF only??? I'm so frustrated with Paylocity. There's always several ways to make the same change in their system - but they don't talk to each other. So I'm constantly digging through the settings trying to figure out what's holding up things from working this time. The system is extremely limited in many ways - and on top of that, the reps are deliberately dense. When I try to politely request a change, it takes three more emails for them to 'understand what I'm asking' even when I've been extremely clear what I'm looking for. Additionally, we're experiencing tax issues, for example: late filing fees in local areas that we haven't had employees for a year now. I sent the notices to Paylocity as instructed. And their response was, 'we can see we provided the information needed in the Quarter-End filing, no further action is needed.' The late fee notices I'm getting beg to differ. When I asked what the agency's response to their notification was (are the fees being waived?), the rep again stated that they had provided in the information in the quarter-end filings. Which does not help me at this time. Why do I have to beg you to do the job we're paying you to do and follow up with the agency that is erroneously issuing us fees? I should not need to micro-manage my payroll provider like this. Our designated rep is a nightmare and so rude. Every time I need to send an email I dread the asinine response I'm going to receive. I have never had to spend so much time trying to do my timecard. There are some commonsense things that could greatly improve Paylocity: 1) Put the clock in function in a prominent location - not at the end of a long list of things most of us never need to look at. 2) Allow employees to see the notes they wrote on clock in corrections- Currently only managers can see them so you need to keep a separate list of the (many) times that Paylocity malfunctioned and exactly when you clocked in, took lunch or clocked out. 3) Allow employees to make corrections and then send them to managers for final approval, rather than having employees suggest corrections, have to wait for a manager to approve them, and them approve them again. 4) Work on the glitches in the clocking in/ out function. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and once it screws up, it will them mess up all your punches for the week sometimes. 5) Have some real customer service- if you have to go through your agency's 1 rep, and they on not physically present every time the program malfunctions to see what is going on, all you are doing is engaging in a frustrating game of telephone with a customer service rep who doesn't seem to know anything. I would not recommend it to anyone, unless you want your staff to waste a lot of time attempting to do their timecards. read more

Where to begin. Deserves 0 stars! The company is a scam, Payroll services were complex and not UI friendly. The staff was incompetent and unhelpful. Payroll took hours to processes still came back with errors. Reports were filed incorrectly we finally had enough and stopped service. Come to find out they are still (without our permission) filing our reports causing a huge mess for each state and issues with the IRS. Have had to call multiple times, they denied access to my account without paying them $1000 upfront for info that is legally required by law to be produced. 5 months later I get hit with a cancellation invoice auto debited from my account. Paylocity is horrible. I was with them for the last three months of 2024. Not only was their customer service horrible, but they didn't process my W2 until the middle of February, and with the incorrect social security number. This only after I contacted Better Business Bureau. They also overcharged me and attempted to withdraw funds from my bank account under a different merchant ID after I blocked them. I switched to Paylocity from Paychex as I was frustrated with the price and service with Paychex. Now I'm frustrated with the service with Paylocity, particularly with two things, their 27 (approx) step process to run payroll (vs., like 3 from Paychex) which is extremely confusion, and not intuitive at all. I've run now like 4-6 payrolls and I'm still confused. There is no weekend customer service, Paychex has 24/7 service. Lastly, it appears impossible for the customer rep to be able to help the customer, all they do is give you instructions on how to do it yourself, so now you have to become an expert on their platform. So far the only thing better than Paychex is the price. read more

Worst Customer Service EVER! The system itself is really nice. Unfortunately, the service is just a total joke. I signed up for pretty much all of the products they offer. They send a team of a dozen people after you who ask for the same data over and over. No one person is in charge. No one knows how the system works as a whole. Implementation was terrible. I was hoping once we got placed with the service team we could iron out the bugs. The service consists of this process... You explain the problem. They don't read the email and reply with a question that is in your original email. I'm guessing they just have to show they are responding to you. You reply with the exact same thing you originally asked. You get bounced around and told that they don't know that product. Most things take days or weeks to straighten out. Things that were working just suddenly stop working and no one seems to know how to fix anything. I love the system itself. It's very clean and when it works, it's nice. God forbid you have any sort of issue that requires talking to someone. Sometimes you are just stuck dealing with them because there are some things that are just locked down. If you are not an independent thinker with a ton of patience, then stay away from this product. Right now, they are assigning random people to us telling us they are our dedicated person then they just disappear. It is VERY frustrating. I'm hoping that eventually we get everything fixed. Otherwise, we are going to have to change companies. I'm dreading it because this one took several months to place. read more

Wow, I don't even know how this company stays in business. I wish I could give them negative stars, but unfortunately Yelp requires me to give at least one. The customer service is horrendous - every time I call I sit on hold for 30+ minutes - then reach a person who can't answer my questions or resolve my issue. I've asked SEVERAL times to talk with a manager or supervisor, but am always told that there's nobody available - I then ask for someone to call me back and not once have I returned a call back. Paylocity maybe would have been a good HRIS if we only had employees in the states. Unfortunately, we are a global company and I was promised they could manage international employees and information...not true. Getting our out of country facilities on board has been a nightmare and not an easy process at all (still trying to get it completed after 6 months). They even coded a WA state employee as an employee of CT and paid CT state income taxes on her behalf, all the while never actually sending or filing any taxes with the state of CT yet refused to refund the money to us. I used Paylocity for one year. I own a small new startup with ~15 employees. Issues with Paylocity: 1. No one ever returns emails. You have to call. 2. They do things slowly. Adding my 401k took 6 to 7 months 3. Their user interface is a patch over a patch over a patch. Running payroll takes over 100 clicks 4. It's very hard to see how much each payroll will cost you until after they finalize. It's idiotic. 5. Their reports section often errors out 6. You only have access to the site for 30 days after canceling service unless you doll out lots of money. So W-2s? 941s? Screw you buddy you left. Good Things: 1. I have believed that Paylocity has the system set-up to be a great foundation for our start-up. It has the capacity to do what we need. However, from the start, it has been an unfortunate experience. Multiple system issues, from incorrect PTO and earning code basics, to severe issues that are never resolved. We have multiple entities. Single Sign-on has been a major issue. Despite literally hundreds of phone calls, emails and work-arounds, this company has given little support for basic US and global companies, and Blue Marble (Global Integration) is a major waste of money. After many, many calls into the service team- issues are solved one-by-one and you will never get the same person. Constantly having to explain easy and/or root problems has become a mundane part of my week. It is very unfortunate how hard it has become to work with Paylocity. read more

The benefits card won't even work until you get online to accept all terms and conditions which you also must agree to over the phone when you activate your card. Oh and don't activate it when you need it because that will be too late! They make you wait 24hours to even be able to pay for your prescription! For whatever reason my COBRA insurance policy was transferred to their administration about a third of the way through its life after I changed jobs. I set up ACH payments to them. They have never had any problems taking my money every month. However, I've had to call repeatedly and deal with their abysmal telephone customer service to get my plan to remain active on file for the Healthcare group administrator and get new insurance cards mailed to me. At this point I'm going to cancel and hopefully never have to deal with them again. read more

Absolutely the worst company for management of of your pay. For nearly 3 years, I've had to pay the IRS back because this company hasn't held out enough federal taxes. The 1st year it was 200 dollars, the 2nd year it was 1400 dollars so I contacted my companies HR representative to check into it. She contacted me and said everything was cleared up, I was happy until this year, My wife and I where doing our taxes this past weekend and what do you think happened, We ended up owing 1600 dollars to the IRS. I again contacted my HR representative which happened to be a different 1, the original HR contact doesn't work for my company anymore. So this new contact reached out to Paylocity to see if something had been entered incorrectly but instead of checking to see if everything was correct, a Mr. Hoyt at Paylocity simply stated that if I felt there was an error, a representative of the government would have to contact him. All it would have taken was a few simple button pushing to verify if everything was alright with my account but instead, that person chose to be a butt-head. That company wasn't even following the IRS's guidelines for with holdings, around 4000 dollars should have been withheld but only 818 dollars was, I should have checked but everything is done in a computer so I just didn't until the 1600 dollar tax burden came up. Paylocity is a joke!!! I never leave reviews, EVER! But their customer service is terrible. I had a baby in February & we used Paylocity for Cobra. Anyways we ALWAYS paid our bill on time. $2500 a month & they won't add my daughter as a dependent to our policy. They say we didn't "call them" within the first 30 days so now we are stuck with over $10,000 in medical bills. Mind you we were paying for a family plan to begin with. We can't get supervisors to call us back & everyone we talk to is rude, very unprofessional, & doesn't understand why we are upset. We have talked to Cigna who is actually who would pay all the bills & they would re run everything but Paylocity just won't add her. It's a joke & what a poor, heartless way to do business. If you care anything at all about your employees DO NOT use this company. The company that I work for uses them and every week without fail multiple people do not have a paycheck. It has gotten so bad that the company I work for keeps checks on hand so they can write out handwritten payroll checks for employees. And when paylocity messes up the employees direct deposit or pay in some other way they do not have a number for employees to call. You have to contact your HR department and they have to contact paylocity. Then it can take paylocity anywhere from days to weeks to fix the issue. People need their paychecks. read more

Our payroll service provider was horrible, so after years of dealing with it, I decided to switch us to Paylocity. The system has far more features than our previous system, which is great. However, their customer service is HORRIBLE, and some parts of their system make absolutely no sense. A couple small examples, You can't run a payroll register to include 5 employees for grant purposes. You have to run each one individually, then combine the PDFs, if you have the ability. UNLESS all of those employees happen to have employee IDs in a range of numbers (i.e., 1-5) or their names happen to be in an alphabetical range. You also cannot run a pre-note for a new employee. They have to be paid with a live check for their first check. On that check date, the pre-note can run. THEN the pre-note takes 10-14 days to complete (there is no possibility for it to take less than 10 days), so cross your fingers that it completes before you have to run the 2nd payroll for that new employee. What kind of pre-note system is that? I'll tell you, NO PRE-NOTE system. Nice! In the 9 months we have been with Paylocity, each and every one of our employees had the amount of a full payroll PULLED from their bank accounts on Christmas Eve. That took over a month and MANY, MANY hours of frustrating interactions with Paylocity to work out. 9 months later, a new employee did not get their first payroll deposit. Almost a week later, STILL spending hours trying to get that worked out. VERY long story short, if you are researching payroll processors because your's is horrible, you may want to re-evaluate that. It gets FAR worse. But if you are set on switching, mark Paylocity off your list of potential servicers. read more

We suddenly started receiving emails stating a "paycheck" was waiting for us, but since we do not use Paylocity for anything nor do we get paid by anyone in this way, I tried to reach out to Paylocity to verify the validity of it and garner the source so I could contact the source of the payment to verify it (to make sure it's not some scam to try to get our banking info) and Paylocity's customer service was a joke! They would divulge any information, not even if it was a true email from them! I tried to get transferred to someone else, and the rep refused! She gave me a generic customer service email to use, and after emailing, got an automated response back stating since they don't recognize my email address, they blocked my email! read more

Received a Call about problems with receiving my medical reimbursement. Told I was verifying the account wrong. Even though verify 3 times and sent screenshots. Tried to explain that I kept getting emails but the person would not listen or let me talk. Rep kept saying I needed to listen and stop talking rude, rude, rude. It's my money and then told I would be getting a paper check. Even though I had an email that my check was being deposited. Not sure if I should wait for 10 days for the check in the mail or if it will be in the bank account. As a long-term customer of Paylocity, I must express my disappointment with the level of service we have received over the past three years. Our company has entrusted Paylocity with managing payroll for nearly 80 employees, expecting efficiency and reliability in return. However, despite our consistent payments, Paylocity has failed to deliver on several services for which they have charged us. We have repeatedly brought these discrepancies to their attention, requesting a full refund for the services they failed to provide. Unfortunately, their response has been unsatisfactory. While acknowledging the oversight, Paylocity has been reluctant to offer anything beyond a partial credit, which falls short of compensating us for the full value of the unfulfilled services. As a business that values transparency and integrity, we find this lack of accountability concerning. Despite our loyalty and investment in Paylocity's services, we are disappointed by their unwillingness to take responsibility for their shortcomings. We understand that mistakes can happen, but it's how a company addresses and rectifies those mistakes that truly matters. Unfortunately, Paylocity has fallen short in this regard. In conclusion, based on our experience, I cannot recommend Paylocity as a payroll service provider. Businesses deserve a partner who prioritizes their needs and delivers on their promises, qualities that Paylocity has failed to uphold in our case. Paylocity is the worst payroll company we have ever used! We had 6 buisness with accounts with them and they regularly miss communicated with us and created barriers for us to process our payrolls on time. The customer service is shockingly terrible and their lack of help with any issues causes us stress and hassle at every step. We are switching to Gusto because they have great reviews and a hassle free setup process. Paylocity should just throw in the towel because no buisness owner deserves to be treated the way they have treated us. -Everytime you call you speak to someone different. They say you have a payroll specialist but that is not the case. -They create wire requirements when they provide incorrect payroll totals and hold your payrolls from being processed. Then when you try to get assistance with it they ignore you, hold your payroll, delete your batches and send you email only responses days later. -Employees hate the system and regularly get frustrated and need help. We have had multiple employees locked out and they have to call the 1 800 number over and over until someone can successfully get them access. -If you have an issue it is difficult to get someone to help. Most of the important emails they send have no persons contact info included so if you need to respond you have to call and hope you get someone who knows what you are even talking about.
