I love Payne Park. I do NOT like too many of the people that use it. Recently, the number of unsupervised kids that are riding their bikes, scooters, and electric do dads are inconsiderate with their use of the sidewalks, their total lack of attention to their surroundings and other people. These kids need more adult supervision and parents need to take more time teaching them manners. I also am taking exception to the growing number of pet owners that think THEIR dogs don't need to be properly trained, leashed, or picked up after. The 5 O'Clock group of owners that let their dogs off theie leads and let them just take over a section of the park is non-sense. Read the signs. That is not acceptable. On several occasions, while just walking I have been run up on by dogs showing their teeth. I stop, sayd nice doggy and then move on. But some day, if I do get bit by one of these unruly monsters, their entiled owners will owe me money they haven't even made yet. I would like to see more of a park police presence for a while to get the kids and dog owners back to being decent people. And to the people that are feeding the ducks and squirrels, STOP. Read the signs. You aren't doing the wildlife any favors by feeding them and you aren't doing the other people that use the park any favors either. Payne Park is beautiful; a great place to enjoy the out of doors and the wonderful weather in Sarasota. Kids and Pet owners don't have the right to ruin the experience for everyone else. Oh, and teenagers, we know you are smoking pot there. Move away from the popular walking areas. Your weed smell like skunk butt. read more

4 stars because the bathrooms are closed currently due to a leak . But other than that this is a super cute place to go to and bring your toddler. This park has a variety of activities / slides , tjings to climb oh and there's a skate park on the other side. Plus the trails are nice walking here. read more

The cutest little circus themed park in Sarasota! Looking for free entertainment? Just pop over to Payne Park, grab a seat, and let the kiddos burn off all the energy. The area is very clean. Other features include two small pavilions to picnic and a small splash area. There is also limited parking nearby. I appreciated that there is an area for infants vs older kids. Great park for the little one to run out all his energy. There is plenty of shade from the Florida heat and even a water mister for the kids to run through. Parking is a bit strange. Maybe, because like the park itself, it is all on side streets or side parking lots that almost feel they are not part of the park. read more

Payne Park has something for everyone. Great big circus themed playground. Check. Lots of water birds and pond. Yes. Frisbee hold? You betcha. Nice big skate park with various features? Yuppers. Nice little local cafe on site? Yes. Plenty of parking despite being downtown? Yes. Trail for walkers? Yes. This is my lil's favorite playground. It's oversized with lots of special features for lils. We used to walk to Checkers from the park but I think the downtown location closed? Tears. But otherwise all good at this park. There are homeless around and some trash issues. But it's a lovely downtown Sarasota park with gonzo playground, skatepark, birds of a feather, and trailage. read more

This park is gorgeous and there are many facets to it. There are beautiful well-kept tennis courts (I have been told they host tournaments), a skate park, walking trails, a cafe, and nice pond with wildlife scenery. We greatly enjoy our visits to this beautiful park The playground area has a circus theme, no doubt a nod to Ringling Bros. which is embedded in the area's history. The playground area has a younger child section and an older child section and has lots of structures to climb on and other interactive components. There is also a little splash area for the little ones in the 2-5 year kids area. The times we have been to the park the water is not running because its been cold/its the off season. Our child loves running around, going up the unique play structures and really just enjoys all aspects of the park. We have not been to the cafe yet but that is next on our list. Check it out! Found this park on a whim and so glad to have stumbled upon it. There is something for everyone here. A skatepark, walking path, cafe, playground, and even ultimate frisbee nets. Brought some Publix subs to the park with my husband and pup and easily found a shaded spot to sit and eat. After lunch, took a little walk around the park. Definitely recommend this park for an afternoon out! read more

Moved across the street from the park approximately one year ago and the park was a huge selling point. It has so much to offer. Walking, biking, a awesome circus themed kids park, a great skate board park, tennis, a cafe that offers a great venue for live music on Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. It also offers a challenging disc golf course. It also has ponds with fountains and with an abundance of ducks and such. The exorcise aspect is tremendous and people come from all over with kids and dogs. It is very common to see events pop up frequently that require vendors from all over. It is always well maintained and it is close to our law enforcement locations and the park always offers a safe environment. Payne Park is a huge plus for for Sarasota! read more

The park is nice, with the exception of unleashed dogs all over the place. There are multiple signs that clearly state the leash laws, yet people here ignore them. Now I've been bitten by dogs before, so the last thing I want to worry about on my relaxing walk is seeing a 75 pound German Shepherd bounding up my path and its owner about 60 feet away. read more

This just might be the best playground I've been to! My two-year-old son and five-year-old daughter had a blast. There are things for little kids (2-4) as well as older kids (5+). There is artificial grass in the play area and a crushed stone walking path around the playground. The playground is huge! There was a field trip with a bunch of kids when we were there, but there was still plenty of room to play. There is plenty of seating and space for adults also. There is a small cafe as well as restrooms at the park. I have nothing but positive things to say! We'll definitely be back! read more
