Based on my earlier and subsequent appointments I would strongly encourage perspective cataract surgery patients to go elsewhere. At my last appointment in April his staff conducted several assessments and measurements of my eyes. Most of the tests were inconclusive due to equipment malfunction and/or staff incompetence. They were unable to get conclusive or definitive information. Other staff members attempted to get the equipment to work but they were unsuccessful. Dr Risser explained it might be due to the degree of cataract density even though one of same tests conducted a few weeks earlier on the same equipment had no issues. I stopped seeing Dr Risser and went instead to Payson Eye Care. They were able to see me within just a few days and did the same tests and measurements using much more sophisticated and modern equipment. All of the tests were completely successful in minutes without any problems. Payson Eye Care does not do the actual cataract surgery but they have a strong relationship with two of the best cataract surgery facilities in Scottsdale and Phoenix. Dr Beeser, my primary contact, is amazing. Very knowledgeable, professional and attentive. He listened to my issues and explained everything in clear and understandable detail. If, despite my assessment of Dr Risser's office, you decide to go there I recommend that you bring a good book to read like War and Peace or the encyclopedia as the wait times are exhausting.

I work 7:00am-3:30pm and the latest appointment they do is 3:15pm. They are open Monday-Thursday 8:00am-5:30pm and Fridays 8:00-1:00pm. They do not work Saturdays. 2. I work remotely, a desk job, and my vision would start off fine in the beginning of my day, but a few hours into my day; my vision would get blurry for a few hours, then go back to being fine in the afternoon. The doctor kept testing my vision in the exam room; as in seeing if there was something wrong with my lenses. It turned out my eyes were dry. How can a doctor not know when a patients eye is dry? That is alarming to me. Luckily, he has been patient throughout the process; but is frustrating to see an optometrist who cannot detect dry eyes. 3. If you have an appointment at 12:00, plan to n being there until 1:30pm. The doctor does not see you until 12:45/1:00pm.

I was sent to a doctor in Phoenix who quickly referred me to Dr Maynard, who was an expert with my specialised needs. He was so amazingly excellent and knowledgable. I love the entire staff and have always had the absolute best experiences I was so nervous when Dr. Maynard retired, but Dr. Heffelfinger has continued to give excellent care to us and any nervousness I had about him retiring has vanished.
