Dayton from customer service is very rude in responding back to customer issues. My PC was sent in here for diagnosis and the staff failed to put wires back in correct place and the start up wire wasnt connected, I noticed that later myself and fixed it...which was their job. instead, they pushed the blame back to me and refused to take responsibility and gave extra attitude for their terrible work. They also charge you two times for repair for both products and services. I recommend watching a YT and buy component yourself and you save ton of money by installing them yourself. Beware of this business, here are the reasons. Went PC Doddle today to have my HP laptop repaired, no diagnostic issues, just needed parts, hinge and screws; the cover of my laptop came loose. PC Doodle requested my pin number to access my data, which I asked why do you need my pin since I do not have any diagnostic issues with my computer whatsoever, however, the agent behind the counter continued to insist that I provide my pin. I ask the agent, what is the legitimate business reason for wanting my pin since there's not a diagnostic issue, the agent became angry, teary eyed, his anger was obvious, still, in continued to request my pin, knowing all along it was not required or necessary to fix the cover of my laptop; actually, the service I was requesting doesn't even require that my laptop be turned on, he still insisted, I just decided to leave. Soon after I left PC Doodle, I went to another computer repair establishment, "Ubreakifix", located in Uptown Minneapolis on West Lake Street, which I highly recommend; they took my computer, ordered the parts, no questions asked, nor did Ubreakifix require me to submit pin for service since there is no diagnostic issues; they went on to say, if there was a diagnostic issue, they require their customers to create a "guest profile", creating a pin for that guest profile as a measure to protect customer privacy. PC Doodle never, never mentioned this alternative, therefore, PC Doodle's persistence that pins be provided for customer computers without a legitimate business case for the pin, this is a concern and very disturbing. This constitutes an unnecessary intrusion of customer privacy. Beware of this business, whereas requesting pins from customers without a legitimate business reason to request the pin, I will not trust this business. If you don't need a PIN to fix the laptop, then why would PC Doodle ask for it? Doesn't make any sense. read more

Phoned to see if they sell laptop screen cleaner or cleaning kit. Knowledgeable guy I spoke with basically said for the kind of screen I have it needs nothing special, just Windex or vinegar and water mix and microfiber cloth to clean it. Didn't have to spend a dime or waste a trip, even though he said he could dig up some dedicated screen cleaner if I really want him to. read more

My laptop had run slow almost since I'd bought it a few years ago. I thought that Best Buy's optimization and/or Windows Vista had something to do with its performance, so I took it to PC Doodle. They charged me about $120 for a little more memory and a clean-up of the hard drive. It seemed steep, but that's what it costs when you don't try to foist tech-related jobs onto tech-literate friends. So I left the laptop there and waited a few days to hear from them. I called a week later and was told it wasn't ready. Another week passed; I called and the person who answered said they didn't know anything about my computer, but so-and-so might and he would give me a call back. A few days later I got an angry voicemail from PC Doodle saying that my computer was ready and I should pick it up. I called back and arranged a noon pick-up. When I got there at noon, I was told it wouldn't be ready for another 90 minutes or so. Yeah. I came back later, paid my bill and left. Upon removing the laptop from my bag at home, I noticed a plastic cover on the back was missing. I ended up driving back again to get it. The computer runs fine. That's the only reason this isn't a one-star review. read more

I couldn't get anywhere with my laptop. First, a virus. Then, a crash. I thought it was done for! I was ready to sell it for scrap... I brought it into to PC Doodle and three days later...it's running like new! They did a great job backing up all of my files, and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg (like geek squad would have). HAPPY HAPPY DAY! After dropping my MacBook Aire one too many times, I was left with a machine that could not hold a charge and had no sound at all. Sigh. Time to get new machine? Nope. I have to agree with Mary, who has used the services at PC Doodle. They know their stuff, and are quick, thoughtful and intelligent well meaning computer repair people. They came to help get me connected to the network (at work) amongst other things. They even went above and beyond by suggesting a virus scanning program that takes no memory and runs at night, and helped me install it. There was none of that attitude you get from some computer experts who think they know everything and lord it over you. Sure they have the knowledge, but without the attitude. An old friend of mine turned me on to these guys. My sons gaming computer died and he was despondent. Honestly, I thought it was a GOOD thing... an impetus for him to find something else to do... I had know idea how SERIOUS gamers were about their computers. "The board is fried!" he said. "Its DEAD... and I could never get a new one!" I called my friend and asked if he knew what a "fried board" was. He went into his phone and got Dericks number out and said "call this guy." He owns P C Doodle. Derick told me to bring it in... (which was no easy task.) He confirmed that it was indeed "Dead." He and my son started talking in another language... when they finished... My son was smiling. Derick went in the back and started pulling parts off of old computers and said... "We can rebuild it... call me in a couple days." It took a little over a week... but for $200 my sons old computer underwent a full Boy- make-over! it was in a box with red flames on the side, with little silver lights. It even LOOKED fast! Terrific shop. Terrific folks. Here's what happened: - Coffee + laptop don't mix. - Apple store said "Needs new motherboard & battery, $800 please. Oh, and it'll take x weeks" - PC Doodle said "We'll try to repair the motherboard, no charge if we can't" Several hours of work later, motherboard fixed, battery ordered - The whole thing took 24 hours and was several hundred dollars less than Apple. The guys are great on the phone, calm, never feel pressured or rushed. A great experience all things considered.....Any tech problems from now on I know where to go. read more

These guys are so amazing! They saved my life, well, the life of my office laptop. I spilled tea on my laptop and not only were they extremely knowledgeable, but they worked fast on my issue because they knew it was a time sensitive situation. Their prices are absolutely fair, $79 to take apart, clean, and put my office laptop back together!! Awesome. SO much better than Geek Squad. PC Doodle was recommended to me by a friend. I brought my laptop in, to replace the hard drive. They called me the next day and said it would be done in three days. I called them back after five days. They again asked me if I wanted to replace my hard drive. I told them that I told their coworker five days ago to go ahead and replace it. They responded by telling him that the previous employee did not leave that note in their computer. They said three days and it will be ready. Over a week later I finally got the call. A total of almost two weeks. I returned home with my laptop excited to get some work done. I turn it on and my battery is in critical condition. I feel like this is something PC Doodle should of told me about. Also, my computer doesn't work for more than five minutes before it freezes and glitches. Running worse than it ever has. I WOULD NOT recommend PC Doodle, because of their lack of communication between employees and their half ass work they did on my computer. read more

My Desktop Pc was sick with a virus & slow connection. Well I brought my computer into PC Doodle, and the staff was very helpful to determine my problem on the first drop off. I brought it back home the next day & somehow it was working, but still moving slow in Firefox tabs. Well I came back, Max, the gentleman who helped me, fixed it right away, I learned something from this too, don't put alot of add-ons to your toolbar, Some of them were eating my computer cpu & slowing it down. Man, once I got back home and hook it back up, it's running perfectly. No problems at all. This place saved me from purchasing a new computer. Service is horrible. They will not call you with any status of your PC. I let my laptop sit there for over two weeks. I would get the same response, "we'll call you when we get anywhere with it." At the 3 week mark they still could not figure out it was a bad hard drive that needed replacement. I figured it out myself once I took it back from them. I fixed it myself with a $39 hard drive from Newegg.com. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Sorry guy, I tried my best to give you a chance. Avoid PC Doodle at all costs! My laptop got a virus, so I took it into them. Some guy with slight body odor said he would take a look at it and give me a call. He called the next day and said they could easily fix it and I could pick it up in two days. I called two days later and it wasn't finished. Two days later (now five days after I dropped it off) I went in there personally and they said it would be done by noon the next day. It wasn't done by noon, so they said it would be done by closing time. They called me and said it was finished and working. When I arrived 10 minutes later they said it wasn't working again. WTF? They said they couldn't install the operating system and the HD was fried. So why did they tell me it was fixed in the first place? Who knows. So I walked out of there with a laptop shell, essentially, and thinking I lost all the stored data on my HD. Thank god for Craigslist, though. I found a guy who fixes PCs out of his home part-time. He said any repair shop who can't re-install an operating system and recover HD data is clueless. He fixed my computer like new in one day and only charged me $60.00. ANOTHER REASON TO SWITCH TO MAC We still had one PC in the house and it was having some virus problems, plus the battery would no longer hold a charge. We took it in to PC Doodle. They did manage to get our PC running a bit faster but it took a couple of weeks to get the PC back. The battery they said they would have to order, so we prepaid and waited for a call. Nothing. After four weeks we went in to see what the problem was, we were promptly informed that they had called to tell us our battery was in, though they couldn't remember what number they had called and since we did not get back to them they had sold our battery, even though we had pre-paid for it. "We are not a storage facility" was the response we got. They did tell me that they would re order another battery and call me when it came in. I waited ten days and then thought I better check in and see if the battery had come in, when I called they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. They didn't even know what type of PC i had let alone have my battery. I always try to shop local but the PC Doodles of the world give other local business a bad name. read more

I originally went to Best Buy and the Apple Store which have me an estimate of 2-4 weeks just to diagnose the problem. Possibly the worst customer service experience I have encountered. And, keep in mind, I have had cable television. Here is what happened: I had trouble with the recharge of my phone. So I brought it into this neighborhood shop, thinking I would save time over, say, the dealer's store. I also like to support local businesses. Yet the PC Doodle remedy created a greater problem than I had before I started, as during a battery replacement the hardware of my phone was damaged to the point the phone itself must be replaced. (I later learned I was charged sixty bucks more than a battery replacement would have cost at the dealer.) The most distressing part? Their response. Hey, no one is perfect. To be sure, I make mistakes at my job. Yet immediately they were accusatory and unwilling to refund the full amount of the battery/install (I didn't ask for them to replace the phone, which will cost me, at minimum, $300; I think many people would have). I don't know how you stay in business without standing by your work. I do know their response was more off-putting than the failed fix was. read more

Very professional, knowledgeable, courteous and thorough repairers with good communication skills. They look like a bunch of geeks with a very cool repair shop on one of the more cool areas of the city (Uptown). John very quickly & correctly diagnosed the problem with my laptop. Charged $20 for further investigation fees which can be later applied to any repairs. They seem to be very busy, with diagnosis taking 2 to 4 business days if not urgent. The whole repair took a long time as certain parts were ordered from EBay and replaced. Most of the time was the ordering and shipping of the required part.
