The Peace Center for Performing Arts puts on great performances but I noticed some issues during my three shows in January. The ticketing staff is friendly and very helpful. The lobby is large and the windows make it seem even bigger. Then there is window seating around the building. Food and drinks need to be consumed in the lobby as well. There is just one restroom on the ground level for men and another for women. Thankfully my show did not have an intermission as that line would be very long. If it was a large women's restroom that would be one thing but it was a small restroom. Exiting the Center after the performance was very slow. I'm not sure why they were directing everyone to the bottom two exits doors rather than using all six of them. The balcony and mezzanine both were empty when the orchestra was still pretty full. If there had been an emergency this would be a safety issue. read more

Greenville is one of my favorite cities to visit for the weekend, green spaces, lots to do, and of course the food scene of amazing! Ive been here a few times thru out the years for various shows. Beautiful space to see some wonderful entertainment, very clean and well take care of. Drinks and snacks are expensive as per any venue space. If you get a chance go see "The Temptations", goodness it was absolutely amazing!!! They are traveling thru out the USA. A few tips arrive early for free street parking after 6pm or ride around for paid parking garages. Some of the parking garages are $5- $20, choose wisely, Lol! They are very organized once your arrive inside, your check in will move smoothly. If you are in the balcony be prepared to walk up two sets very steep steps. Not good for the knees at all. im sure they have a elevator for the disabled patrons, ask if you need it. Enjoy! read more

Visited this venue to see Wicked. It is a very nice theatre, and one of the bigger ones I've been to. The seats are quite comfortable. My main take away is how absolutely rude and unhelpful the staff were. Would still see a show here again, but just know if you aren't in your seat 20 minutes before curtain you will be treated like an uncultured swine. read more

The Greenville Peace Center is an amazing location, right in the heart of downtown and close to everything--food, hotels, and entertainment. The location was convenient, with parking at the Marriott costing around $16 overnight, where we were staying. We attended to watch Hasan Minhaj. Security was tight--we scanned our tickets and were informed that all phones needed to be locked in cases until after the show. So no pictures. The lobby isn't the largest, but the bar is very affordable. No beverages are allowed inside except bottled water. Hasan's show was incredible! The seat was great and the interior was so beautiful. We loved every moment and the night ended with a standing ovation. read more

Unable to travel to NC due to the hurricane devastation. Was shocked to learn Peace Center is sticking to their no-refund policy despite the situation. I was told I can resell the tickets for face value and to ignore the threatening wording originally issued advising not to do so. Also absolutely no direction given as to how the tickets would even be transferred if we did find a buyer. What a frustrating experience. We travel to the area often, but this place will certainly not be visited in the future. I hope they use our "donation" for hurricane victims. read more

Been here for a few musicals this past year and have been blown away each time. The Peace Center has a listing of top name musicals each year including Hamilton, Book of Mormon, Lion King, Anastasia. They also have variety of bands, orchestras and ballets that come through. We're not fancy enough to get seats that are up close and personal to the stage and orchestra area. However even being third to last row, you can see the entire stage well. The Peace Center has multiple bars open before the show and during intermission. They also have Genevieve's which you can make reservations to. You can also have them make you a drink that's pretty much waiting for you during intermission. read more

I saw Frozen the musical first in Orlando where I live. I loved it so much that I immediately decided that I had to see it elsewhere and take my mother along with me as I knew she would love it too. I planned a whole girls trip with her based around seeing this show in Greenville at the Peacecenter. I splurged on premium tickets because I wanted her to have the very best experience and because her hearing is not the best so I wanted her to be close. I flew to Georgia, drove an hour and a half to get her, and then drove another 2 hours to get to Greenville. The first act of the show could not have been any better. Our seats (Row F, front & center) were amazing and we were in awe of the whole thing. We even got lucky enough that the seats in front of us remained open. During intermission however 3 people filed in the row ahead of us and sat. As they walked down the aisle you could hear everyone grumble because this one lady was not only 6 feet tall but she also had a foot high head wrap on top of her head and she was accompanied by two very large men. It would be equivalent to someone wearing a top hat or derby hat to a show. I will include pictures to emphasize the extreme nature of this scenario. I kindly asked "hey where were you guys for the 1st Act, did you miss it?". I assumed that they must have been late and therefore not allowed to enter. If this had been the case it would have been understandable and easier to overlook the inconvenience of my now blocked view. One of the men in their group of 3 replied "we bought the cheapest seats way up there in the balcony but during intermission the box office let us trade them in for free for these seats, we do it all the time." I can not believe this is allowed. We paid more than double per ticket what theirs cost and it felt extremely disrespectful for them to be able to come in and sit in front of us and basically block our amazing view for the second act. Everyone in our row and rows behind were furious at the situation and apologetic towards my dear mom and I. I just can not wrap my head around how anyone would think this is ok, and even worse at a show where half the audience are children! Why should anyone pay for premium seats if this is allowed? It doesn't make any sense to me. I emailed them to ask if this truly was their policy and they said yes they do this so basically "sorry not sorry." I am angry and disappointed and could not recommend this theater based on this experience. The show itself is amazing but I would recommend seeing it somewhere else. Or hey, if you do go to shows here I suppose just buy the cheapest ticket and then ask to move up during intermission because apparently that's something they see no issues with. read more

I've attended several plays, musicals, and book talks at the Peace Center over the past two years and I'm so thankful that Greenville has this beautiful performing arts center! If you have the chance to grab a show or a book talk, I highly recommend doing so. Here's why I recommend spending some time at the Peace Center: My background: I'm originally from the Pittsburgh-area and I'm used to a city having a strong arts district, including performing arts venues. Although Greenville's art scene is still developing, the Peace Center has definitely helped to lead the way for bringing artists, performers, and writers to the area. The qualities I love about the Peace Center: AFFORDABILITY: I find the price for tickets at the Peace Center very affordable. You can purchase tickets for shows online or in-person at their will-call desk the day of (provided that tickets are still available and not sold out!). The process for purchasing tickets through the Peace Center website is easy to navigate and they have great visuals for being able to select your seat, including having a virtual image of what your actual view will be. There are also season ticket packages you can purchase which I find to be fairly priced as well. I have attended shows for as little as $15 dollars and some more national tours, such as the Lion King, for a little over $100 that still landed me on the main floor only a few rows back from the stage. VENUE: The venue is beautiful and has recently undergone another renovation to update the seats. It's not as large as some of the venues you may be used to coming from larger cities (Pittsburgh, New York, etc.), but it is still very spacious and has a beautiful stone aesthetic inside the auditorium. The outside lobby of the main auditorium is beautiful as well with a huge open space featuring a lighted-sculpture of a dancer and posters of upcoming shows. There is also a cash bar and places to sit for you to mingle before and after the show is over. STAFF: Everytime I have attended, the staff is always so friendly and helpful! They are always very professional and will help answer any of the questions and help you locate your seat. They truly seem to love and believe in the venue and performers they support which really shows in the care they offer to audience members. SHOW VARIETY: I love the variety of show offerings the Peace Center curates each year. I love a great musical, but I also love a great book reading. There seems to be something for everyone. A few notes to keep in mind: ACCESSIBILITY: Although there are several handicapped-accessible seats available (and they are marked clearly on the online seat selector!), the seats on the main floor are arranged in a way that there is no center aisle. This means that if you have a seat closer to the center of the floor, you will have to walk past several seats of people to get to where you need to be. This is difficult to do for a healthy, able-bodied person, but it is even more difficult for seniors and anyone who has difficulty walking. PARKING: There is no designated parking garage or lot for the Peace Center. This isn't the Center's fault -- it's just that parking spaces in Greenville are still hard to come by until more garages are built to keep up with our population growth spurt. If you can, I recommend parking at the Richardson Street parking garage which is a few blocks up from the Center and walking down the sidewalks on main street to the venue. If you get a chance to grab some tickets for a night out, I hope you enjoy your show! read more

Ballet Folklorico de Mexico was invigorating! The costumes were so beautiful and vibrant and the dancers were exceptional! The dances were about the same pace as River Dance and I don't know how the dancers would keep that pace for two hours. The mariachi musicians were also great! Audience participation was encouraged and the room was electric! This performance was well suited for families and the young ones loved it! Prices for the production are very reasonable and children under a certain age are free. I really like the new seats at the Peace Center as well as the ease of seeing the stage and the generous amount of leg room. read more

Paid $45.50 (including exorbitant $4.50 Peace Center booking fee) for 45 minutes of high school kids dancing - not very well - to Michael Jackson music. This was advertised as a ballet. Two weeks ago my wife and I went to see Chris Botti with our friends from church. As always that was an amazing experience. Last week just the two of us went to see The King and I. In both visits as during every visit to the Peace Center we had a fantastic evening. We always enjoy a date night at the Peace Center and the shows are always of the highest quality. The acoustics in the Peace Center are great, and I've never once had a bad seat. The crowds are friendly and it adds to the experience the way the audience stays engaged. Especially during the Chris Botti show, I think this was the most engaged I've ever seen the audience. If you become a donor, even at the PeaceKeeper level you earn the ability to get your tickets earlier than general admission. It's money for a good cause, it helps you get better seats earlier, and it's even tax deductible. read more

Blown away by the performance of Phantom of the Opera.. I've been to 12 Broadway shows, and it was easily my favorite!! The drama, the action, the gorgeous sets.. Definitely something for everyone. The Peace Center is always beautiful and so perfect for a nice evening out. The volunteers and workers were friendly and helpful when scanning us in and guiding us to our seats. The Peach Center is a beautiful auditorium for performances. I visited recently to see Gladys Knight and the show was awesome. I believe the center is located in town and it is fabulous! Seating was comfortable and the view was great. The patrons sitting around us were friendly and we all had a great time at the show. Staff members were cordial and readily available for assistance. Parking was readily available, even on the street if you were lucky enough to catch someone coming out. I was able to find public parking a few blocks away that was free after 6 PM and that was pretty awesome. read more

I've seen a few shows at the Peace Center, most recently Hamilton. (I'll take a brief moment to be THAT person- Hamilton was awesome! It's the most I've ever spent on tickets, and I was afraid it couldn't possibly live up to the hype, but I'm not even mad about what I paid. Worth it.) We were a little concerned about getting to our seats because the fella had recently broken and had surgery on his leg and was non-weight bearing. I called the box office to see what we should do, and they looked up where our seats were and let me know we'd be allowed in first to get situated. I thought it was so sweet that as soon as we got through security the usher for our section approached and asked if we were the ones in such and such seats. He said he had been keeping an eye out for us and kindly navigated us to a spot where we could comfortably wait until they were ready to take us in. There was a small issue with something making a distracting noise near our section during the first half of the show and they were quick to resolve it during intermission and offer everyone drink tickets. As for previous shows, I generally know better than to try and go to the bathroom during intermission- time is tight. I'd say almost all seats on the ground and in Founder's Circle are good. 3rd balcony... tried it and never again. Can you see? Yes. Can you see any detail whatsoever? No. I find shows much more enjoyable when I can see facial expressions of the actors and such. read more

We were at the Peace Center this afternoon for the Greenville Symphony Orchestra's children's program - it was FANTASTIC! The orchestra was top notch, and the program was clearly targeting children and helping them to love and appreciate the orchestra. They played wonderful music, but also introduced each instrument through song for the kids to see and hear. The performance was just shy of an hour, which is the proper length of the time for the age of the audience. The center itself is very nice, great view and sound from anywhere, and has plush comfy seats. There is a parking garage directly across the street from the Peace Center, and the parking is very inexpensive! (We paid $3 for 2 hours.) I would highly recommend the Peace Center for live performances! read more

I grew up coming to/playing at the Peace Center in Greenville. On a visit with my parents, we came here to see Alton Brown Live. We had such a great night! Right as we entered, my boyfriend (from New York) said "wow, this place looks like it's brand new!" The facilities are always clean and well-maintained, the theater is also beautiful and feels so grand. The only comment I had, was that during the performance, Alton's microphone kept cutting in and out randomly. I think it was corrected after the intermission, but it was something we definitely were aware of and a little annoyed by. Otherwise, sound was fantastic. read more

We went here over the weekend to watch The Nutcracker. I have been to some iteration of Nutcracker every year for the past 9 or 10 years, but this was my favorite one. The building is beautiful! It is right downtown. We found a parking lot charging $5 to park and it was just a short walk down the street. The inside was wonderful. Full of life and open and grande. They were selling drinks inside but we just went right to our seats. The auditorium was laid out very well: not a bad seat in the house. Our second level back row seat had a great view and wasn't too far from the stage. The performers were great and the live orchestra performed splendidly. His is a great place to see a show! read more

The Heart of Cultural Arts in Greenville, this venue has been a long standing icon for concerts, musicals and plays. Bringing the area smash hits from around the world. I've enjoyed being a patron of venues of the past several years and the excitement of being a peacekeeper each year. A few upgrades are underway which hasn't come to completion are the audience seating. The place is classic having Art Deco and Genevieve's to relax, enjoy a beverage and great conversation. Parking has and will an issue for downtown Greenville as the city grows and more restaurants and other business clamor to the area so we simply deal with it to the best of our ability. I enjoy the performances and the staff are eager to assist you with your requests. Volunteers line the performance seating area to direct you as quickly as possible. The inside and outside areas are nicely done and situated in the heart of downtown. I recommend that you arrive early for parking reasons and simply your surroundings while waiting on the show to begin. read more

Peace center is a tale of two venues. 4+ stars for Broadway type musicals but 2- for any type of pop, rock concerts. We attended a couple musicals in 2015 and enjoyed every one of them. But, we also attended 4 'concerts' in 2015, to include Sheryl Crow, Govt' Mule and Bob Dylan. All three lacked energy and it come through the performers who all visibly couldn't wait to get off the stage. The formal sitting does not help matters and really doesn't allow for dancing or 'getting in to the show' I'd spend my money on musicals but pass on any concert type shows at this venue read more

The Peace Center is a beautiful facility with great acoustics. There are floor to ceiling windows in the lobby area, with great views of Greenville and the Reedy River. They have two bars set-up, and take preorders/payments for cocktails during the intermission. The only thing you can bring into the actual theatre is their bottled water. Restrooms are centrally located off the lobby area, so both sides do use the same restrooms. It is also adjacent to Genevieve's Lounge, and they do a nice job there as well. read more

The people at the Peace Center are awesome! Very informative and helpful. The venue is just the right size and the quality of most of the plays is excellent. It's a treat to go to beautiful downtown Greenville to this lovely setting. Genevive's is nice also. We especially love having a table at intermission with our coffee and dessert waiting! We bought season tickets, and were so disappointed in one of the selections (FUN HOME) that we will probably not do that again. We would never have gone to see something that "dark", yet as part of our package, we paid a high price for tickets. We wanted to walk out, but kept thinking it would get better. I have not seen any surveys that PC sends out to see what their customers think about the event selection, but it might help them to pick more appropriate musicals.
