The level of instruction is very good, and the level of competition from the other students matches this very well. I rolled with numerous students and none of them was anything other than respectful and courteous. They have nothing to prove here, and their confidence shows. George and Sarah emphasize drilling with a couple of days per week devoted to rolling. The classes include both women and men, but Sarah seemed to spend more time rolling with the women. This seems to me to work well if you are a woman who will roll with anyone or someone who wants to roll with women only. There is also Thai boxing taught here as a curriculum which looks very good also, but I didn't take any of those classes. If you are looking to roll BJJ in Fargo, look no further than Fargo Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!

ACA is a place where everybody knows your name, which is very important to me. The coaches and students made me feel at home and it felt genuine. They've continuously reached out to me outside of class, expressing a genuine interest of who I am as a person outside the mat, outside the cage. What's more, they've maintained contact with me via social media even after I moved over 1000 miles away from Fargo. If I was still in the area, I'd be there 3-4 times per week. They truly value you and your membership. Your dollar matters. They'll push you only as hard as you're willing to go, but don't get me wrong the classes are very demanding but no one bullies you to keep up; you go at your own space. ACA's instruction is not a one size fits all type of instruction. Instruction is carefully tailored to fit the specific needs and goals of the individual student. If you're looking for a home cooked meal that's made from scratch then ACA is for you. Don't believe the hype? Step in and see for yourself! I believe they offer a free trial membership. It's open to men, women, LGBTQ, and children. They don't discriminate. ACA is easily the most diverse martial arts center in the area. They don't discriminate on the basis of race, religion, and/or gender--which is especially important to me (black male attorney who trains judges and attorneys on racial bias). They have a racially diverse coaching staff (Filipino; Black; White; Indigenous/Native American, etc.) as well as a diverse population of students. Prices are very reasonable and they'll get you into a plan that works for you. Classes happen regularly throughout the idea. I highly recommend ACA. Thanks ACA for making me feel at home.

On August 11th, a classmate of my younger son invited him to play at the YMCA. So, despite heavy rain, we went to this YMCA. However, when we tried to swipe my membership card for entry, we were informed that my card had expired last month and were asked to leave and reapply for membership. Seeing my child's disappointed expression, I asked the staff if it's possible to renew the membership now since it's set up for automatic deductions. They could deduct the payment now. The staff coldly replied: "No!" They demanded that we go home and reapply by filling out forms. I attempted to negotiate, saying: "We came a long way in the rain, can I fill the form now and could you please update my membership card now?" The response remained indifferent: "No! You must fill out a new application. It's our policy.." Can I read your policy? I asked. No! I don't have it...... I asked, "Could you please have your manager check if it's possible to update it now?" The reply was, "I am the manager," and proudly showed me his name tag: Max! I'm not sure if this is the YMCA's policy or discrimination against me as an Asian? Membership expiration wasn't communicated, and the renewal process is so troublesome! Being treated this way as a YMCA member, humiliated in front of my child, has left me heartbroken!

I have nothing but amazing things to say about PGGC. I have been a member since shortly after they opened, but have been training with the owners and many of the members for the better part of a decade. I have trained at other gyms in town and have come across many others across the U.S. during my travels, and this gym is by far my favorite. I have personally experienced how hard the coaches work to continue improving themselves and building classes to ensure the members get the best coaching around. There are many class options and they follow a curriculum, which allows you plenty of time in variations of positions to get those repetitions and build the muscle memory. I love the camaraderie and atmosphere at the gym and even hanging with the group outside of the gym. All of the upper-belts are incredibly approachable and willing to help out. We also have a great group of collegiate wrestlers if you are looking to pick up the pace and work on your takedown and takedown defense. The kids' program is also booming and I am excited to see them learn from these coaches and continue evolving the sport in the area. The group has become some of my closest friends and I could not recommend this place enough. Check it out! read more

I began going to PGGC at the beginning of May this past year. As a beginner with no other martial art experience, they were phenomenal in creating a comfortable and welcoming environment, as well as just having amazing members. As for the instruction? Unparalleled. No need to worry about feeling dumb or embarrassed if you still can't get a move down. Whether you're just getting into it, or have been doing BJJ for decades, you'll be sure to always learn something new! read more

Ever heard of John Danaher? No? You should look him up. Now rejoice because Fargo has the next best thing. Professor Baily Badillo is delivering the most technical jiu jitsu instruction in the state of North Dakota. The environment is laid back and practical. It's all about the sport, none of the McDojo vibes found at most martial arts academies. read more
