About a month before my wedding, the simple logistics of setting up the flowers while getting ready for my own wedding started to set in, and I changed my mind. Finding Kim was such a saving grace for me. Not only was she totally willing to take on the challenge of my wedding only a few weeks away, she understood what I was trying to do on my own and set out to do it for me. She gathered the supplies I had already collected to incorporate them into her own designs. This meant so much to me, because I didn't feel like I had wasted my time. Kim immediately understood what I wanted, and when I didn't know what I wanted, she was wonderful and providing examples and helping me decide. She kept communicating with me, and was patient when it took me forever to reply or sign something because my life was a whirlwind. The flowers turned out amazing, the candles and glass work perfect. But Kim did more than just the flowers for me. The venue had some hiccups in setting up my wedding, and Kim, onsite to set up the flowers, really took charge to make sure that things were perfect. This was above and beyond what she had been hired to do. I know, with certainty, that the reason my wedding was perfect is because Kim was there. For that, I can't thank her enough, I can't recommend her enough. My advice for working with Kim: Trust her. She's a true artist.

I've never stepped inside of Merriwicke's store, but I call them every time I want flowers…read moredelivered to my grandmother in Savannah. I'll call up and say something like: "I want to spend $70 including delivery, no carnations, no baby's breath, I'd like it to be white and purple, and traditional. She likes it fragrant." And then I'll get a call from my grandmother like: "Oh my gosh Caroline, this thing is the size of four bouquets, it's just gorgeous, and so fresh!" So that's five stars in my book.

The minister crossed out the county and wrote "illegibly" so the court did not accept our marriage…read morelicense. Elope to Savannah said they would sign a new marriage license, and mail it to the court for us. I communicated that I would reach out to them when we were able to get a new marriage license, but because of work and illness it took two months for us to get a new marriage license. Once we got a free day we paid a local minister to marry us legally. During our session with Elope to Savannah they suggested their mail service was unreliable and at that point I did not want to risk another mistake. Apparently their mail goes to Florida before it goes to the mail recipient. When I requested a refund they blamed us for taking a long time to get the new marriage license. They said a refund would be problematic in this economy because they are a small business. They gave a breakdown of their expenses and suggested a small partial refund. Being scolded for not getting this fixed right away was shocking. Use them at your own risk. If they fixed their mistake with us this way, imagine what kind of fix they will give you. Not a good experience.

Luckily, the pudge factor disappeared....around age 4. A Floral Affair was recommended to me by the GM of one of my FAVORITE Hilton Head restaurants, Steamers Seafood. Erika had hired them to do her wedding. I phoned this order into the store and they were so accommodating. They asked what style I wanted. I am sure they get these "creative" types a lot. My response was, " lots of color, tasteful, NO CARNATIONS." Semi-vague but they got it and my mom actually cried when she received them. She showed all her neighbors and I knew my "frivolous" spend was money well spent. When it comes to moms, I have the best.
