After almost getting trapped in the matrix between where several dogs tried leaving at the same time I enter I noticed a few small dogs were also on the large side. It ended being no problem because all the dogs played nice. The water area is very close to a fence. On this warm morning while the dogs take a drink all the small dogs gathered on their side to bark and squeak. Definitely watch the dogs closely. It was an easy day once all the small dogs left and the big dogs could play less restrictive.

You sign a registration and also a release waiver. Once registered, you'll receive a lock code combination that is used to get in. We made the mistake of bringing our little one unknowingly without registering and while there were others in there, you will not have access and no one will let you in. You have a big dog entrance and a small dog entrance as shown in the pic. Always very clean and well maintained.

Deicke was a philanthropist who gave money to people and organizations in need in Illinois where he grew up, and Broward County, where he and his wife Lois built a home in Plantation in 1961. As a young man he wasn't able to afford to go to college but he became successful in the insurance business eventually becoming president of the country's oldest insurance company. He amassed a fortune and used it to help others before he retired to Florida. In Plantation some of the beneficiaries of his generosity were students at Plantation and South Plantation High Schools who received scholarships to go to college. Edwin F. Deicke passed away after a long illness in 1984. His wife Lois continued to give money to the causes they supported after his death. Deicke Park is a tranquil neighborhood park. It has a half-mile jogging trail with exercise equipment designed for use by the general public and people who are physically challenged. Other park amenities include two hard court tennis courts, a sand volleyball pit, a basketball court, picnic tables and open play areas. There is also a shaded playground for toddlers and older children. The park pavilion can be rented for parties, picnics and family gatherings. Restrooms are open only during the day. Although I enjoyed the exercise path, my favorite part of the park was discovering the nests of burrowing owls near the sand volleyball court. Burrowing owls are considered endangered, threatened or of special concern in nine U.S. states. Unlike other owls, they are not strictly nocturnal and are active during the day. They make their nests in underground burrows, which are dug out by ground squirrels and they prefer open grasslands. They are pretty timid and will pop back into their burrows if you approach but I managed to catch sight of one little fellow. The park was very busy during my visit. People were walking on the exercise path, playing volleyball, basketball, and tennis, and watching their kids play on the playground. Deicke is a great recreational resource for the Plantation community. Come visit Deicke Park anytime from dawn to dusk.

It is just a few blocks south of Sunrise Blvd., and just a few blocks west of Nob Hill Road. Since it's kind of hidden; it's never too crowded, plus there is a good sized parking lot and bathroom facilities. This park has everything you could ask for in a neighborhood park; wide open spaces for soccer or football practice, a nice, often shady, path for walking, biking, or jogging, 2 tennis courts, a volleyball area, a covered pavilion, and a playground. (Right now the playground is closed off & the picnic tables under the pavilion have been removed because of the pandemic.). There's still plenty of reasons to go to this cute, little neighborhood park and spend some time outdoors!

I finally stopped coming because some people were not watching their dogs as closely as they should. The worst incident I saw happened when a bike rider was going past the fence. A dog pulled off the leash a man was holding and leaped up and ripped her arm open. After that I was done. The problems of the past seem to be over with the new renovation of the dog park. You must register your pet now in order to use it. Registration is $35 for Coconut Creek residents and $70 for non residents. There are separate parks for large and small dogs. The city has added wash stations and agility equipment for the dogs. The park is lovely since it borders a lake and there are over 60 trees providing shade. Water fountains, benches, and a wash station were also added. Keeping your pet safe is a security fence surrounding the entire dog park. Right now only around 150 dog owners have signed up so the park is never crowded. The park is closed on Tuesdays for maintenance. The iconic windmill of the park has now been moved to the inside of the dog park and a lot of landscaping was added. The renovation of the dog park was part of a 3 million dollar Windmill park renovation. Parking used to be dicey but not anymore as the parking lot has been expanded to twice it's size. A new playground has been also added for human kids. Furry kids can be registered at the Community Center up the street on Lyons Road. Once you pay you are given a FOB to enter the dog park fence.

I try alot of parks in the area to burn off some calories walking before the summer heat hits hard. This morning it was very cool outside but had to walk along the wet grass through the park since there were no walking paths. Also noticed a small murky canal on the far west side with a posted beware of alligators sign - so no fishing or swimming. Also I would not bring your dogs to this park plus they are prohibited anyways. A small portion of the grass area is burnt but enough fresh green grass to play frisbee. Most of the park is well kept. There is kiddie monkey bars and a few picnic tables but no covered pavilions except for alot of large tree shade. No parking anywhere at the park so good luck with finding a legit spot. No bathrooms here either. Really not a people friendly park, but did burn a few calories walking.

Construction of the neighborhood began in the 1960's and is still ongoing today. Most of the homes are single family one acre lots. Many of the homeowners who live out here own horses. Tara Park also known as Plantation Acres South Park is a large neighborhood park with a lot of trees and open green space. The back of the park borders the Hiatus Greenway so you can see people on horses and bikes as they ride by. Park amenities include swings, a playground with climbing equipment, picnic tables, and benches. It is the perfect spot to fly a kite, exercise, take the lids to play, or have a picnic. There are no restrooms so it is primarily used by neighborhood residents There also is no dedicated parking lot so if you come by car you have to pull off to the side of the road.

A small park in Hollywood, across the tracks from Yellow Green Farmers Market…read more I stumbled (or my fingers did on Yelp) across this park while trying to find a place to do a HIIT workout with a friend. We originally planned to go to TY Park but it was closed off for COVID/Vaccine appointments only. A quick Yelp search later, we decided on Charles F. Vollman Park. This spot is very hidden and most people wouldn't know it was here. It sits in front of an apartment complex and has a sidewalk "trail" that winds across it in different directions. Large trees span the park and offer great shade during any workouts or picnics here. There were a few people walking their dogs and running. We ended up doing our HIIT workout in a little dead end part of the lot which was the perfect spot for it. You can see Yellow Green Farmers Market right across the tracks from this park. I would note that there aren't too many parking spots like other South Florida parks. Still a great place to be one with nature if you find yourself in the area!
