I live within walking distance to this wonderful community park that over the years has played host to many community events and continues to do so. It's such a great green space right in the middle of the city that is home to the Florida Panthers with the recent addition of the Baptist Health Iceplex and the Federal restaurant and the newly renovated Jimmy Evert tennis center. Lots of great activities for families, sports enthusiasts, and four legged friends alike. They continually improve the grounds making it safe and enjoyable for everyone. Lots of free parking and benches dotted throughout the park for relaxing and enjoyment. Weekends are super busy with peewee games/practices but usually quiet during the weekday mornings and afternoons. Come here often and or early enough during spring training and you might get a glimpse of professional athletes training. read more

I was looking for a park that would be open late to take a quiet evening walk with my dog and came across this suggestion. There's plenty of activities here ranging from sports, recreational gatherings, dog walking, nature stroll and more so I decided to scope it out. While the dog park itself is small, the park is large enough for you to venture outside of the enclosed dog area and take your pup for a stroll. There was plenty of lighting and people were still around yet it wasn't excessively loud which is exactly what I was looking for. They did seem to have some interesting playgrounds that with a few that seemed rather futuristic. It's not the easiest to get around because the signs are kinda dim and there's no large map at the entrance but it's not large enough to get fully lost in. We got to scope out the full moon and take a brisk walk before continuing our night. Not a bad option at all. I do like when parks are open late with the safety of police presence. read more

This is the "Central Park" of Fort Lauderdale. It's really a pleasure to visit this park. During the day it's very well kept and clean. At night, it's well lit and full of people playing sports, jogging, walking, running, relaxing. The park is just north of downtown so for many people who live in the city it's an easy walk to the green spaces. This last time I went, I felt very safe enjoying the park at night. Tucked between Victoria park and Flagler Village. There is an outdoor gym, bike trails and even a tennis court adjacent to it. They conduct outdoor music events in summer on Fridays. For a outdoor photo shoot, I wanted a park that had very little foot traffic. The photographer that did the photoshoot suggested this park. It was a perfect choice because the area that he set up had no people in it. We were beside some beautiful trees and it seemed like the best nature's backdrop. There were people in the park but they were on the trails, or in far distance from us. We were able to do the photoshoot in little over an hour and even though it was extremely hot outside, due to the trees and the sunset timing we picked it was not very humid. This park has multiple areas such as dog park, children's playground, walking paths, sports fields etc. There was a park ranger on site that was driving around for peoples' safety. I would suggest them to maintain their grass area a-little bit better since some of grass needed better maintenance. Side Note - There were covid testing signs here too. Holiday Park is great to bring your dog or yourself on a walk. It's always clean, lots of free parking, and even has restrooms if needed. The park has baseball/softball fields and tennis courts. There is a fee for the tennis court but I believe it's under 10 dollars so pretty reasonable. The courts are clay and maintained very well. read more

You'll find a ton of things to do when you visit Holiday Park.  There's a playground for the kids, the War Memorial Auditorium, and Parker Playhouse all close at hand.   Available facilities include lots of different kinds of ball fields, and a wide assortment of different places to sit, walk, and/or just enjoy the sights. For people who enjoy the outdoors in general, it won't be difficult at all to find something fun to do here.  For those who prefer their activites to be indoors I suggest either the War Memorial Auditorium or Parker Playhouse. read more

Holiday Park is a great park that I wish I utilized more often and truly, all should! It's large, easy to access, and did I mention it's beautiful? Ok, let's begin. Minutes from the beach, I feel like parks like Holiday Park get overlooked, because who wants grass when you can have sand? I get it, but this is more than just a lump of grass. Located on the grounds are your traditional park flare such as swings and all things kids need to enjoy the outdoors. Side note: do kids still play outside for fun? Anyway, there are multiple baseball parks (or diamonds) so you'll likely hear the crack of a bat while you're enjoying the long walking/running trail. The park is clean and had a nice variety of people milling about, enjoying the sun when I stopped by. The park also connects you to the Parker Playhouse and Art Serve though part of its trails. The best thing about the park to me is the dog park and I don't even have a dog, but going for a run here and seeing all of the dogs was definitely a highlight for me and instantly made me want to come back here, even if it was just so I could pet dogs, but hey, whatever works, right? read more

Review is on DOG PARK ONLY- This is the only dog park/area I've been to with my puppy, so I don't have many comparisons... with that being said, the actual dog park is a little difficult to find (confusing signs), but once you find it there are separate areas for small and large dogs. There is a wide open space for the dogs to play- large area, plenty of trees, but lots of pine cones and it is ALL dirt. Not sand, DIRT. My puppy loves it, but I can imagine it's a muddy mess when it rains, and it takes me over an hour to wash her (and her poor ears) when I leave. Like any dog park, some people bring aggressive/dominant dogs that shouldn't be there, that isn't a surprise and not much you can do about it. I have noticed the earlier you come, the less dogs there are. There is also a hose you can use before you leave- but you'll most likely need soap to get all the dirt off. Free, plenty of parking, long hours, and friendly pet owners. read more

Please BEWARE of this couple. They came in (without latching the gates) and started asking if my dog and others dogs were over 30 lbs - stating that our dogs would get HURT if not. They did not unleash there dog right away, which led us to believe the dog was possibly aggressive. They just kept repeating our dogs would get hurt. We did not wait around to find out and left but please BEWARE of nasty people who bully others. Such a shame. read more

Holiday park has been around for decades, it's home to a community gym, outdoor walking trails, baseball fields, tennis courts, roller skate ring, playground and much more. But what has me excited is that they just opened a dog park! The dog park has a small dog and large dog separate area, a few benches, fully fenced, dog water fountain and beautiful Dade pines to provide shade. I am very excited this park is finally open because there wasn't a dog park in the neighborhood. So far all the dogs I have seen have been very friendly and well taken care of, and the people seem equally well trained :-) read more

Once Upon a Time a very athletic young girl growing up in South Florida wanted to be active in as much fun events as possible. If my memory serves me correctly this was the premier City Park in Fort Lauderdale. She spent a lot of time playing here. I would say Holiday Park has maintained its excellent reputation for cleanliness, educational, and recreational activities for all ages. It served my needs over generations. Just okay. I have been on air boats rides in the Everglades three times prior. Each time a different outlet, all very different experiences. Holiday Park is okay: Here is what set it apart from some of the others. 1. The boats are covered and have a windshield so they are difficult to get into and they have NO air flow inside. We went in June. Everyone in the middle of the boat was dying. Hot, stagnant, just totally uncomfortable. 2. It would appear they either don't pay their employees or don't pay them much. Everyone is soliciting tips. It's like being in a third world country. The boat captain and the alligator show dude both told us they are volunteers and their only income is tips. Guess what, go work somewhere else. I doubt that is the business standard in Florida. 3. No much too see. They take you on mostly fishing canals, so some birds, one alligator and a few turtles. I have been to a similar one in Everglades City, but there was a lot more wildlife including manatees and I have been to Wootens where you are skimming over grass and weeds with lots of alligators to see. Overall, they place is cool if you don't have alot of time to spend away from Ft. Lauderdale and if you don't mind people practically reaching in your pockets for tips. read more

I really enjoy this park. I can't really can't think of any cons to list to be honest. I like that there is a lot of sidewalk pavement for long walks- other parks I've visited in downtown Fort Lauderdale are not as large as this, so if you need a decent workout this is your spot. The park includes a basketball court, baseball/softball and soccer fields, and a mini outdoor work-out station. In the back is two, gated dog park sections. One for small dogs, and the other for large breeds. Everyone is super friendly here, and this park is always really clean (except one time I found a used condom on one of their wood workout benches...eww.) Other than that one time, this park never disappoints. My pup is always thrilled when we visit here. It WOULD be nice if they had some dog poo trash stations. Not sure if they have some in the gated dog areas (my dog is feisty, and doesn't play well with others) but the trash bins are pretty far apart. read more

What a great park! I've never been before (except for visiting the Parker Playhouse and the War Memorial) but I'll be coming back. I came here to see a concert, put on for free by the City of Fort Lauderdale. You can see my review for that in a separate post. When I got to the park, I was amazed at how big it is. I found the area and parked in a huge, FREE lot. There were park workers all over the place, so I felt very safe. The place is really beautiful. And I love the small town feel of Fort Lauderdale. Bring a canopy, put it up, set your chairs under it and watch the show. Or simply spread out a blanket and enjoy that way, if it's not raining. Either way, it's a great way to spend an evening in a beautiful setting. And next time we're brining the kid so he can run himself into sleep, which probably won't happen but we can try. read more

White male with yellow lab named Logan (blue collar) came storming up to my dog, grabbed his frisbee, and ripped it out of his mouth. He was belligerent and began screaming at us trying to steal our frisbee. He started taking pictures of us acting like he's calling the police. Be on the watch. This psychopath is still out there. I still have nightmare about that dog park. I cannot understand that the city never took action. I have been involved or witnessed 3 attack with one mortal. 1st my dog got agressed by a husky, the owner said that's dog training A..ho.., 2 huge dogs attacked a lady with a small, these 2 huge dog@ tore apart the small one in front of everyone and a gentleman trying to help got bites and full of blood. The police came and NO OWNER, they dropped their fogs on the way to work and picked them up at their end of day. I heard so many stories about more aggressions. Go at your risk and perils. read more

Love bringing my dog to this park because it's certainly spacious and has lots of room and trees for my pup to run around. There's a hose and a couple benches for us to sit. She always had a great time. I love that they have tennis, a regular park, baseball and so many other recreational options as well. The only thing is that I wish there would be more grass in the large dog area, I always have to try to get my pup to go outside where the grass is thicker. read more

Located about halfway between I 95 and Sunrise Blvd Holiday Park is a Ft Lauderdale institution. It houses the War Memorial Auditorium opened in 1950 that hosts conventions and shows through out the year. Other amenities at the park include basketball courts, volleyball, an activity center, playgrounds, and a walking trail. The few times in the past that I have been here I have noticed a lot of homeless people. They have not approached me but I feel sad when I see them. Friday night I found myself at the park to celebrate a friend's birthday. Her husband arranged a surprise party for her at the free Starlight Musical Concert that that is presented by the city every Friday night in summer from 7 until 10 pm on the football field. I didn't even know about this event and I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. Families come with chairs, tents, and coolers loaded with food. Different vendors have tents set up so you can purchase food if you didn't bring your own. There is a bathroom at the entrance of the field. My friend's husband set up his own tent and food for the party and the tent really came in handy because it was pouring rain. The city actually had to stop the concert half way through because of lightening. Friday night's band was Jaded, a tribute to Aerosmith. Next week they are having a country performer. In addition to the band the city holds a raffle great prizes worth hundreds of dollars like overnight hotel stays. My friend told me that $5 got you six raffle tickets. I would definitely try my luck next time. The city also asks you to bring a can of pet or people food to donate to their food pantry. This week Abandoned Pet Rescue who are a really fantastic organization was at the park receiving donations. A free night out with entertainment and a chance to help others, I love it! Now that I know about this great event I will definitely pay another visit this summer, hopefully with better weather. read more

Watch out for the guy with 2 Great Danes (the spotted one is aggressive) he put a hole in my dog's neck during "play time". The owner has two other dogs (brindle boxer and a tiny brindle French bulldog) and he spends most of his time chatting it up with a New Jersey woman who loves the sound of her own voice. After the incident happened (which I witnessed from start to end) the owner who goes by "coach" just shrugged it off. He has a gravely voice and he Could not look directly at the wound his dog inflicted and blamed my dog who was tag teamed by the Great Dane and the boxer. Eventually after he managed to pull his dogs off mine, we had an exchange of some choice words and he got so heated that he threatened me with physical violence and his daughter owns the boxer (responsible for the wound?) and only apologize when asked to. She says her dog has never done that before while I witnessed her father consistently constantly have to yell at the two dogs for being too rough and aggressive with other dogs for the past 2 weeks daily. She can no longer claim that her dog isn't aggressive. An aggressive Great Dane is a threat to any dog smaller than it and this one is double the size of mine. My dog has been attacked 3x but never responds with aggressive behavior. He is wounded but still wags his tail. There are no bad dogs. There are only bad dog owners who Make it impossible for the owners of gentle creatures to enjoy the park. He's a bully just like his dogs. We can't go there and I live across the street it was my dogs favorite time of day. Wow. read more

Guys, mama brought me for a ride up here, and said it was a NEW PARK!!! I was hoping it would be better than Snyder Park, because Snyder Park is not as cool as my favorite park where we used to live. That one is the BEST! (Happy Tails, Plantation). Snyder is cool, but it has lots of dirt and mama gets mad at me because I like to roll and get really dirty which I like but I hate baths. So mama said this park would be better because it is newer. Well it was okay. Mama was so confused! There are no signs in Holiday Park that show us where to go, which made mama mad. Only when I started barking in the car at another dog did she see where to go. I helped! But there is a little dog side and a big dog side. I never know where I want to go. I'm 20 lbs and I'm tougher than I look! There are a lot of trees around here though. Not palm trees though, that would be cool! They drop coconuts, which are fun for me to play with. These trees drop what mama calls pinecones. And there are too many trees and they get in the way of the pups running around which is no fun. There is lots of fun dirt too, but mama said this is not good just like the other park. Boo. Why is there no grass to pee on? This park is okay but mama says there are still no good puppy parks close to our house which makes us sad. If they had more grass this park could be so much cooler :( read more

Still a Nice Park. I played pee wee football here in the 70s and the park was designed different back than. I recently went here to eat lunch while sitting in my car. I drove around and found a nice shady area near the tennis center. I'm happy to say that the park is still in great shape and they still have the locomotive engine still on the play ground. I came here for a photography class and must say that I like this park. I entered from the 10th Street entrance and was able to find ample free parking with no problem. Big no no about parking - do not back into your spot. The park seemed very well kept and park rangers are nearby. I saw 1 pavilion with 4 well-kept tables and chairs right next to the kids playground. If you need a bathroom, you need to walk to the concession area closer to Sunrise Blvd. Bathrooms were o.k. kept. There are enough trees and spots to sit to enjoy your Saturday morning. read more

I have a 5 year old daughter and I've taken her to the play ground part of the park for years, it's good size but I'm not a fan of wood chips but the extensive play area is nice, we have also gone to packers play house for a show, and she goes to Stars gymnastics, which are all park of the grounds. I have also gone to events like pride fest with friends. The location is great. The war memorial and sports fields are here too. Great for people who live down town and want to get outside! read more
