Well when the team at the law firm realized we had just come to an agreement I was hit with an immediate $5000 invoice. I thought "what do you mean? I am sure there is stuff to file but it's done". It was a $7500 retainer followed by discovery i.e. her paralegal calling me threatening me with "you know Mr. Carroll if we don't do all of this she could go for more" - to another invoice for txt and emails - to them basically extorting me for $5000 to finish the case. I did it myself and they still have the nerve to keep sending the invoice.........Did I mention that I spent $10000 and was never given an ounce of legal advice and I never even spoke to the lawyer?? So I am sure if your one of the real deep pocket people you can talk to her but not us regular folk.

I should not have done STUPID things like admit to my attorney that I was embarrassed by the pork belly recipe that got inadvertently stapled to the divorce papers that got served to my (now ex-) husband. He was a chef - what, if you can't beat him, join him? Or that it took weeks to get a response. Or that I became her Friday afternoon client. You know - the one she'd *maybe* get to IF she had nothing else to do before she went home for the weekend. She even forgot to include me on an email TO ME, then had her paralegal follow up the following Friday afternoon because no one had heard from me! I paid almost $30,000 for THAT?! That's justice here in the United States. One word: FAIL. Don't make the same mistake I made. If you have any sort of a soul left, please find someone who's not just like the person you're trying to divorce to represent you!
