Bought a bag of their ice at 7/11 on Greenfield and East main in El Cajon. Got the ice home. Was gonna put some ice in my drink. There was a handful of ice in the bag that was dirty!!! Bag completely sealed un opened. The bottom of the bag was littered with dirty ice. I buy ice every couple of days. I've always wondered what kind of cleanliness these places have. What's a Christmas party without SNOW!!!!!!!! I was looking for a way to really kick up my Team Christmas Party a notch when it hit me..... SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Being SoCal residents we don't often get to enjoy snow in our back yard so I was excited to tackle the idea. After a quick Google search I located San Diego Ice Co. They offer snow to be blown, but you have to buy a few tons and I didn't have $800+ in my budget. They DO offer 50 pound bags of snow for $10 each though! The friendly girl on the phone explained that 2-3 bags will cover about a parking space. I bought 7 bags :-) We spread it around the walkways leading to the party and framed the back yard. It was truly an amazing accent tot he party that helped everyone get in the spirit. Just as a frame of reference for anyone that wants to do a similar thing at your party. We put the ice down around 5:30 PM and it was about 60 degrees out. The snow lasted the duration of the party and even a little into the morning. San Diego Ice company is easy and convenient to work with. I drove my truck right up to the loading dock. I paid and they loaded my truck for me. I was literally in and out in minutes. BEWARE!!! Long story- Moral, DO NOT USE Spoke to them last week about delivering a 300 lbs block of ice. After a pleasant email back and forth with Sandra, we were all set for a Friday delivery. Come Friday and I get a call saying the truck broke down, and they will need to deliver on Saturday. Okay, understandable. Things happen. I was left a voicemail by Sandra to call them back to arrange Saturday delivery. I call back and speak to another woman. I ask for Sandra, but she was not able. She says that she can assist. We confirm the scheduled delivery for Saturday delivery between 11-12pm. 1pm on Saturday an no ice. I call and Sandra picks up. I ask her for an ETA, she says that I never called back to confirm. I explain I spoke with someone else and she says they have no record of my call. There is no driver in the area and they will cancel my order. BEYOND UNPROFESSIONAL. This delivery was for an event for my boss. Sandra and her team almost got me fired. Terrible customer service. How does someone confirm a time and not log it in? You need to get your employees in order. DO NOT USE THEM. Ended up calling S & S Ice in Palm Springs, and they delivered within 2 hours. And it was $80 cheaper!!!! Crazy. Three years ago we purchased a block of ice for the luge which we built at an expense of 85$. It was unusable and began to have holes throughout. It wasted good booze and was a total bummer. I called to complain and told that there were no refunds and that it never happened before. Saturday was my Bday and a friend was insistent on getting a luge and warned him of the holes the last time. He was insistent and picked up the luge 1 hour before the party, we handled it with kit gloves, put it in the shade covered it with a towel and after an hour developed 3-4 holes which again ruined the experience. SD ICE should be ashamed of ruining peoples parties and taking their money. Be forewarned the luges form these thieves arent worth the water they were made with. DONT BUY ANYTHING! read more

The truck showed up exactly when promised and they proceeded to make a huge mountain of snow in the middle of the soccer field. I never write reviews or complain for that matter, but I am still so upset with this business that I had to do something. I called on the Wednesday before Labor Day and talked to a very nice man regarding my optoins for ice luges for my Labor Day party on the following Sunday. I decided on 2 small luges instead of 1 large and was told that he would have them ready for me and I said that I would be there around 2pm to pick them up for my party that started at 3pm. I left my prized parking spot in Mission Beach on Labor Day weekend at 1;30 and arrived just before 2pm. I explained to a young man on the dock htat I was there to pick up the 2 luges that I had called in on Wednesday to have reserved. He responded "Ugh-I will check to see if we have any left." He came back to let me know that they did not have any luges left and he did not know anything about my order for 2 luges. He barely even apologized. I then frantically tried calling everywhere in San Diego to find ice luges with no success. So I headed back to Mission Beach where I then spent 1.5 hours trying to find a parking spot, and was over an hour late to my own party with no ice luges. This business basicaly ruined my party and did not even apologize for thier error. I would reccomend not doing business with them at all as they do not take thier customers seriously or even care. read more

Not sure what's happening with these guys but it seems like it's heading in the wrong direction. I gave them two stars as an overall rating for the two experiences I've had. For the 2015 superbowl I bought their single track ice luge ($55) and two bags of ice - huge bags. Not cheap for frozen water but the luge is what I wanted. The luge lasted about 4 hours of use - can't say how many shots but I would think more than 50. The bags of ice were much bigger than I could purchase at Vons (at least twice the largest bag). If I had been on Yelp last year I would have given them 5 stars. I wanted to do the same for the 2016 superbowl. On Feb 7, I bought the same set up (luge + 2 bags) but THE LUGE NOW COSTS $75, bags of ice are way smaller and selling for the same price! And the worst part of it, the luge lasted maybe an hour. For those who haven't had one, a crack appears in the luge track (where you pour the shot), and it opens like a tunnel to a lower part. That crack which quickly becomes a hole, is where all of your shot will go! We got crushed ice and packed the holes as we continued to try to salvage it but they were too many as more and more kept appearing. The $86.51 spent was gone by 2p. So ice and luge prices have seriously gone up and the luge was an embarrassment. read more

I arrived 30 minutes before closing and had my Ice luge in my Subaru 10 minutes before close(they close at 5pm). The staff was very friendly and the pricing is extremely fair! I am an avid fisherman and outdoors man. This place sells 40lbs bags of ice for a fraction of what a grocery store sells them for. The facility is immaculate and the staff is very accommodating. Last summer we were loading up for a multi fishing trip and need 300lbs of ice. I couldn't get to them on time. They actually stayed open 30 minutes after closing so I could get my ice. San Diego Ice was at one time The Best place to get ice from. Great customer service etc. This past weekend we purchased a Dual track Luge Ice Block for $80. 1.5 hours in to our party the Luge developed a hole because of an air bubble in the ice block. All the Tequila (1942-Follow) ran down the ass end of the block - BRUTAL! We took video of the damaged Luge and also had the hired Bar staff give their testimony to the shady Luge experience. I go back in to see the same dude I bought it from. He tells me that it has never happened before and did we damage the block ourselves?? Reading previous reviews here I see that isn't the case. He offered me a $30 discount and said it was all he could do - LAME!!! Just a Heads Up Here Do NOT BUY ANY LUGE items from this place. read more
