Jesus told me he'd research the item make sure it's in stock and call me back in 15 minutes, we confirmed my phone number for the call back. Never got a call back. I have always wanted to check this place out when I am cruising on Miramar road. I do not own a restaurant but I do like to cook. I went there one Saturday afternoon, there were a lot of items that are used in restaurants. (restaurant appliances, enormous pans and pots, utensils, food storage displays, knives, kitchen gadgets, prep bins, sauce bottles, etc) They basically have everything and anything you could think of and more. I ended up buying a few items that I've always wanted. I now know what they have to offer so they will be on my list if I'm looking for something specific that most places might not have. I shop at Chefs toys multiple times a month as I'm a regional manager for a restaurant chain in Southern California. Today my restaurant in Del Mar needed a new rice cooker because theirs broke. I currently have norovirus so I called to see if I could purchase it over the phone and send an uber to pick it up. He said "how about we just deliver it for you" he took my info over the phone, and sent his driver to drop it off in lesss than one hour. I loved them before, but I love them even more now! We had heard good reviews about Chef's Toys knife sharpening service, so we took some of our Henkel knives for a professional sharpening. When we got them back, they were sharp, but the lines of the knives were absolutely ruined. If you have good quality knives, definitely avoid this place. Let me explain. A quality knife (these *were* excellent) has a nice rocker from the tang to the tip so that as you rock the knife while cutting food, they make good contact with the cutting board all along the blade. When ours came back, they had removed way too much material from the mid point in the blade, leaving a gouge in the blade curve and ruining the most important part of the knife shape. It's obvious that the person doing the sharpening didn't know what they were doing. We will NOT be returning, and you should definitely find some place else to take your good quality knives. read more

MY PRIME STOP for my pans and other tools I need to run my baking business. Nothing is bad or poor quality of this store and I can't explain enough how many times I've come here in a pinch and they have everything that I ever need in stock. All my pans, piping bags, and cooling racks come from here. I've told so many people about this store and my cousin is STOKED that there's a new location in San Marcos. And the commercial kitchen I rent is also in San Marcos so it makes it REALLY convenient if I ever need to head in again for last minute tools. Location is always clean, and Annabelle was amazing when she helped me out. I've been in and out a couple of times so she may not remember me but she's always given me a great experience. This place is really nice. I'm just some random dude and went in today to get one offs. They didn't give me a hard time for not buying in bulk or anything, nice. I bought a refrigerator $3,600 item from them. Overall a great experience with Price/Service/and Delivery. Delivery guys did everything possible to move in and out the old and new equipment. Glad their delivery service included taking the equipment inside the building and not just "drop ship" like others. They took off old refrigerator doors and door frame so the old fridge could be taken outside, and then installed everything back to its place. Manager called us to make sure everything was done correctly and to our liking. I recommend Chefs Toys for first time equipment buyers. Great people. read more

I have purchased many pieces of equipment from this company and every single time there was some problem or another with it. I had 2 ok experiences with them I bought an ice machine and fridge from them they came took the old appliance away and brought the new appliance in. But I had some terrible experiences as well. I went to the store to look at dish washers. After talking to the rep and finding a suitable dishwasher they said it is an easy install simply plug it in and attach the soap lines to it and you should be good to go. They forgot to mention there was no plug attached to the machine. Even the delivery guy said they usually come with plugs and when I spoke to the company they said they never ship with plugs which is fine I just wish I had known when purchasing. When I ordered the stove they told me it would be delivered on this date between this and this time. We close down the restaurant for lunch to move the stove in and out. They tell me the oven is held up in traffic it won't get there till the next day around noon. Great so we close for no reason. Next day I get a call at 6 in the morning saying they're outside with the stove. I rush over and get it taken care of. Couple days go by and the cook tells me the oven doesn't work. We almost never use the oven and I figure the cook simply hasn't turned some knob to let the gas flow so I don't take care of it for a while. Couple months later we need the oven so I try to set it up and find it doesn't work. I'm still in my 1 year warranty so call up to get it repaired. After spending hours on the phone with chefs toys and the manufacturer being bounced around between both finally, the manufacturer sends someone out and tells us they won't fix it because we are using too large of pots. Nowhere in the manual does it say to use any size pots or warn about using large pots. The pots we use are on the larger size but not hanging off the stove in any way. Chef's toys tells me their hands are tied and they can't do anything. After only going to them for all my equipment I'll never go to them again. read more
