Chickens are actually the only things I prefer to not eat un-local, though I am a huge sucker for fried chicken. For battered and oil-cooked poultry parts, I will drive miles and miles...moreso than BBQ, to be honest. But... I can eat pork and cattle from completely un-ethical sources, for the most part. Chicken must be local.
That being said, I love paying the extra $1 or $2 per lb. to get some quality local red meat. Wait... is pork the "other white meat?" It sure doesn't taste like it here. And I actually don't eat a lot of local chicken as it is, so I guess I only eat chicken when its fried. Is that conducive to me writing a Yelp review about "eating local and clean"? Probably not.
Their pork necks are some of the fattiest, meatiest nasty suckers that you can find in products that are cut from swine around. Furthermore, they do hand-crafted dog treats. Who doesn't love dog treats made from actual animals. Dogs are mammanibals after all, right?
The people running this local meat operation really know how to take care of their meat. And by that, I am basically implying that the proof is in the puddin'. Get yourself some of their pork, beef, or dog treats, and the offerings that you procure will speak for themselves.
I am not actually implying that you try their dog treats. Unless you don't have a dog and really want to see what a grade A, need-to-be-refrigerated snack for a canine should taste like. My dog approved. Pick some of Peach Creek's goods up at the Saturday Downtown Austin FM. read more
