It was overall a fun experience! 10 minutes is a good amount of time especially if you have little to no experience with karting. Although finished last, I had a blast! There's also mini golf with 2 different courses available for additional price. The gift shop has plenty of options but almost no price tags. Took a star off for two reasons: 1. Still overpriced for the amount of time you get on track. The novelty of the location is great, but price to value ratio is still not quite there. 2. An employee, for some reason, seemed to take an offense that I asked for a green helmet instead of the one she picked out. Came out here for go karting and mini golf on a not at all busy Sunday. Not much is open during the day here. Though there was a free race going on. Go karting was really fun even if you get passed by are the series go karters on the track. I felt that 1 race was enough. It was a bit pricey for a single 10 min race but still worth the experience. There are two mini golf areas to play on. But you can double up your game if you done finish one of the last holes and just move on to the next..... read more

Fun track and reasonable pricing for the quality of Go Karts. The courses were well maintained, and the races ran every 15 minutes and were on time. They displayed lap times on tv screens in the viewing area. There is also a large minigolf course available to play for an additional cost. The gift shop has a lot of t-shirts and toys for purchase. This was more fun compared to indoor go karting! Took some family here over the holidays and they really enjoyed it. Unique experience since it's at COTA but lots of space and parking. Had my parents in for the weekend, we are adrenaline competitive junkies, and I thought this was the perfect way to get the family active and having fun! I got two races, and I recommend going with two. The races last 10 min long, and the carts go FAST! It is definitely different than your average mini golfing cart experience, this is top notch! These carts go FAST, the first cart race helps you get used to the track, that way the second one you feel comfortable on the second time around! The service was great, the safety measures were great! Bring some water because it may be hot! This is a great spot to take your kids too! They have two seater carts if you need a ride along! This place is so poorly run. After taking 30 minutes to get us signed up, they gave me a scheduled time, and then they ran way behind schedule. When I requested a refund since I didn't even race they said they don't do refunds. Staff was incredibly condescending and rude. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Literally the most inconsistent carts I've come across in awhile (obviously exasperated by it being a larger circuit). If you have an ounce of competitiveness in your body and enjoy carting, I'd recommend going elsewhere (that was the managers solution when I talked to him). Just because I was passing people in the corners but losing them instantly on the straights doesn't mean my cart wasn't egregiously slower... There's zero purpose in joining the league if your only hope is getting one of the faster carts. Consider yourself blessed if you have cart #60 (as of this posting). TL;DR: Lots of fun, but inconsistent karts Had a great amount of fun with my friends, and the race track is awesome. Everything about the experience is wonderful, except for the fact that the karts are incredibly inconsistent. In my three races: 61.7, 60.5, 62.6 In the last race, there was a very visible difference between the car ahead of me and mine as he was pulling away, and would catch up because of the corners. It was fun in the sense that I shifted my focus from getting the best lap time to racing him. Despite overtaking him and clearly being better, he was still 2 tenths quicker on his fastest lap. I felt overall I was on the luckier end, but I should have asked the staff to place me on the fastest kart (because they definitely know which karts are the fastest). As of writing this review, kart #16 is the best one. If you're very competitive, this may frustrate you. But overall great experience! read more

Why 4 stars? Because I'm competitive but terrible at go-karting. --- --- --- When I heard that we were doing this as part of a fun work outing, I was excited but a bit nervous. The last time I was in a high speed go-kart, I was in a couple of collisions and they were not fun. They actually hurt and were quite jarring. Fortunately, COTA's track is a lot wider than the one I road on, so I was able to avoid any collisions, despite a couple of close calls. However, I have to face the hard truth that I am atrocious when it comes to go-karting. There were some people who I was with that would fly pass me and immediately disappear into the night (even though it was daytime). I didn't really understand how they could go so much faster than me, despite driving a kart with the same engine. I was later told by the guy who finished in first place that the object was to not brake and minimize the use of the gas in tight quarters. I'd love to try that now that I know, but it also seems pretty hard to fathom driving that track without touching the brake much. Despite me being awful, this was still fun. I admit, I was a bit paranoid about getting hit, which ramped up the anxiety when I saw someone's shadow creeping up behind me, which led to FIVE spinouts, but it was still a cool way to bond with new colleagues. read more

Okay. I bought two races for $75. Everyone was nice but the biggest issue is the karts themselves. Two different carts, 4 second (worse) difference across the two heats. The second cart was an absolute dog. Incredibly bad. I wanted to join a league and practice here regularly, but not if the carts are going to be garbage. Disappointing way to spend close to $100. Wish there was more consistency especially at such a nice track. read more

COTA Karting is sooo much fun! Must be at least 13 years old, 58 inches tall to drive alone....48 inches tall in a double cart. Kiddie cart 5-12 minimum height 36 inches You need an ID with a photo on it. For safety, you must wear closed toed shoes, and if your hair is below shoulders...bring a hair tie to pull it back. Helmets and head socks provided. Kiddie carting starts at $15, Regular is 38 for one race, $70 for two, and $105 for three. It is expensive! But, what an adrenaline rush! We had a really great time racing a bunch of strangers of different skill levels! read more

A lot of fun for all ages! Check-in & equipment are located within souvenir/gift shop. Traditional, single speed, 2-pedal kart, no need to worry about manual shifting. Tip(s): Some Go-karts tend to hit "speed wobble" at top speed. Be aware of passing drivers during straightaways on the Fun race. There's two types of races: Competitive & Fun racing. I'd recommend taking the 'Fun' race prior to competition to gain an understanding of the track layout. I had a blast going on the Zipline. I have a fear of heights and this was one of my steps to overcome it. The operator was very nice and welcoming. The ride was quick, but the view once you reach the top was beautiful! It's also even better during sunset. Sit back and enjoy the scenery! P.S. I would have taken photos of the Zipline view, but didn't want to risk dropping my phone, and the experience is better firsthand :) I'm always looking to set a new PB (Personal Best) Lap time. I had the opportunity of riding go-karts that a vendor from work treated us to. If you're looking for a somewhat affordable way to get a group of friends together and enjoy flying around a track for an hour then come check this out. This is some of the best fun I've had in Texas yet! Everything about this experience was great. The staff were friendly and flying around a go-cart track with a bunch of your friends is a fun time. This COTA experience for kids is managed terribly. The time you book is not the time you will actually race (and was told that by staff). We waited in the cold in the dark for an hour after running to make it on time. We asked the desk 3 times, after running back and forth from the track to the office, where we get the gear for the kids and was told something different each time. The staff were very rude when we asked questions and instead chatted amongst themselves instead of helping us and other frustrated customers. There were no kids helmets, no helmet fitting, no mention of neck guards, no one to answer questions at the track. After waiting for 50 mins we figured out kids were going over and over again and no one was keeping track. We finally got into the last race after waiting an hour, and by then the kids were freezing and over it, ended in tears with no racing. Getting to the track requires a shuttle, after driving a half hour to get to COTA, so all in 3 hours round trip for nothing. read more

Came here when in Austin for a bachelor's party. Company management we spoke to before booking this event explicitly told us this would be grand prix style racing where the order of the drivers would reverse for each race based on where each driver finished. We were lied to, as this did not happen. Before our final (3rd) race we brought this up and we were refused. Also, we began 2 hours after the time we had booked. Cool track, but horribly managed. Avoid this. I spend $210 for 30 minutes and it was NOT WORTH IT. The staff ruins it. They don't care, and are just passing time. They aren't there for you, and make the experience stink. If you just want to toot around, it's fine. Take the kids, take the crew, take the entire Jack n Jill. Do a race then go have a drink. But if you're looking to post times, think again. You'll just waste $$. Here's why: staff doesn't care. They remotely govern top speed the first and last laps. Ok, no problem there. But for 2 of my 3 races they failed to release the governor. And only on my cart. The rest of the field went full bore & effortlessly passed me while my cart shuddered and backfired. For a few seconds here and there the cart came to life, and it was like a turbo kicked in, but overall my times were 4 to 5 seconds slower per lap than my friend's times (Yes, I switched carts between races. Yes, I used carts that were fast in the prior race. No, it wasn't my driving: for one race the cart worked and I was within a few 10th of a second of others). At $35 for 10 minutes that sucks. And did staff care? Ha. This business model isn't based on repeat customers, so they really don't care about your experience once they get your money. Trackside staff goofed with each other endlessly. They obviously had heard my complaint before and they just didn't care. When I asked for satisfaction, trackside staff told me to talk to reception. But reception merely radioed trackside staff, then told me there was nothing they could do. How about not passing the buck? I blame management for letting ground level employees get jaded. This place doesn't deliver the excitement or satisfaction promised. Save your money and save your disappointment. read more
