I had a group visiting from California and they wanted to visit both the California wineries here in Texas, as well as some of the Texas wineries that buy 100% Texas Grapes. During our Main Street tour, we stopped in for a tasting after visiting another 290 winery just down from you. The experience couldn't have been more different. They had a blast and the staff shared her experience/knowledge about her personal favorite wineries in the area. I am partial to William & Chris, Ron Yates, Adega Vinho, Ferris & Fletch, Becker, and Kalasi. However, she recommended several that I hadn't tried or at least not recently. Having individuals in the group that like sweet wines, she knew exactly where to send them. Personally, I tried several dry wines that I really enjoyed. If you have not tried Fat Ass recently or better yet, since the new ownership, I encourage you to drop in for a tasting.

The wine, however, was less than palatable. We tried the sweet tasting, and honestly it was a bit nauseating with all the back sweetening. If you like nice wines, though, I'd skip it.

We signed up for a tasting, and it completely possible that I just didn't know what that entailed, but it was far different from what I expected. Instead of being seated (or doing a standing tasting), we were given drink tickets and told to go outside for drinks. We were given a welcome wine to try with our tickets which I appreciated! When we got outside, we were met with long lines leading to what looked to be a bar with three staff members pouring wine. For the first pour, we were told a little bit about the wine but after that, no one bothered to tell us anything. In addition, the pours were very inconsistent. Some of them were barely more than two small sips while others were far more reasonable. We quickly discovered which staff member was willing to pour more and who he was willing to pour more for (not me lol). The wines themselves were fine but it was difficult to enjoy considering we had to keep getting up to get pours and the drink tickets felt a little like SXSW. We did very much appreciate that they offered actual food unlike many other places in the area!

We got there and it was a little late for them with a reserved party already seated, but they acted like it was no problem at all and we were delighted that we could do a tasting and enjoy the view outside, admiring the beautiful grounds in between going to the bar for another wine to taste. We fell in love with the Lone Star Cab and got a case while it was on sale and then decided to join the wine club with a purchase of the smooth and delicious Alamo Red. We are ready to go back with a new set of friends and try some others!

Big fan of the Grande Rouge which a sweet red. We prefer to pick up our deliveries here in Georgetown bc it's closer than the Hill Country, but still a great experience. Members pricing on wine & snacks if you join their club. Pickup times vary on the specific club you join. Hours are better here than in the hill country. Tastings are fun!

The location is listed as "pets welcome," yet we were turned away at the door. Joel said he would double-check the policy, pulled out paperwork, asked whether I had a disability, and then explained that "pets welcome" apparently means service animals only. He also asked whether we were "even members," which felt unnecessarily dismissive. I have been a member for years--since before he even worked there. If only service animals are permitted, that should be stated clearly rather than advertising the location as pet-friendly. The wording is misleading, and the way the conversation was handled made the entire experience uncomfortable and disappointing.

Comparing the selections we tried vs. other TX wineries, the wines at Narrow Path lacked depth and complexity. The server in the tasting room was not really familiar with the wines she was pouring, constantly using her phone to read descriptions of the varietals and tasting notes. The cost of the tasting was reasonable, cheaper than many of the other tasting rooms on Main Street. One positive note about the tasting is you're able to walk with your samples into the shop next door which is owned by the same family, interior door access, don't even need to walk outside! LOL

I filled out my card to choose the wines I wanted to try, and Floy kept suggesting wines I could try and pouring me thimble sized glasses to sip. I incorrectly assumed she was being friendly and giving some free samples before the tasting. After getting through exactly 4 thimble sized pours of wines I never asked for (and rejecting her push to get me to purchase a wine plan), she suddenly stopped and just stared at us awkwardly asking if we were finished. I thought I still had MY selection for the 34 dollar wine tasting, but I was wrong. Wasn't even worth the argument, and I just left. Floy had the audacity to say to mention her name in a review after. Well, here you go Floy. Your service was not appreciated. Thanks for wasting my time and money. For anyone considering stopping here while visiting Fredericksburg, go elsewere. Plenty of other great places with better tasting wine, nice service, and for a cheaper price.
