Learned while there that it's the first African American park in Charlotte. We easily found covered seating with a table not far from a basketball court and pickle ball court with games in play. We were also near restrooms which I meant to check out but from the outside the building looked new and well kept. Weather was nice out, park was not crowded. I saw a sign advertising music in the evenings every 4th Saturday. There's an amphitheater near the front of the park. We'll probably be back to check out the music. Really nice park!

We have been customers of Charlotte tennis for years and have been very happy there. Until…read morerecently, when it was bought out by Sports Connection and turned into a complete disaster. My oldest son is in the Allstars academy and does clinics there, you have to buy a package or pay $20 more a clinic. So, we usually buy a package of 10 for $600. You are also made to pay an initiation fee per child when you join, that fee is $200 per year per child. Packages were always active for 12 months until recently without notice, they changed that date to 3 months. No emails and no advance notice. They also turned all of the inside tennis courts to pickleball courts, again no notice. When we signed my oldest back up at the beginning of this year and paid the $200, no one told us the courts had changed to pickleball. This means when it rains, clinics are cancelled. This summer, it rained a lot and a ton of clinics were cancelled last minute. They also changed the app to where you can not schedule clinics out, you have to wait until a few days prior. Again, just another tactic to take people's money as they can't schedule things in advance. My youngest also takes lessons here for 30 minutes and has been happy until recent changes and the fact that we can hardly schedule lessons due to rain and cancellations. My son has tried to use all of his clinics that we were told to buy for the summer because "he would have time to use them before summer was over". Our instructor knew that he would be gone for over a month during the summer. Then when we returned, they kept cancelling clinics due to rain. We asked for the package to be extended and they declined. When I asked to speak to a manager, they called me on speaker and acted like they were doing me a favor by listening to me. They also informed me that now packages would expire in 2 months and cost more money. I asked them how all of these things were communicated in the past year and they said email. The app has no communications on it since Feb of this year. This company does not care about kids or parents, they have demonstrated that this past year. Continuously make it hard to get to clinics, changing the time clinics are offered and changing the length you can use them. I have asked for them to refund the remainder of our package and they have declined. I am writing this review in hopes that no one else has to be treated this way at this business.

I've been taking my kids to Clarks Creek since it opened. While this park does have some pluses…read morethere are minuses. The bathrooms are almost always nasty, they either don't have toilet paper or don't have paper towels to dry your hands. If it's the summer time and you're taking your kids for the splash pad, bring water shoes. The floors are disgusting. The trashes get overflown and the flies are everywhere. I don't know who thought it was a great idea to have metal slides with no shade but if it's a peak summer day, you're not gonna want your kids going down those slides, especially if they've got shorts on, their butts will get fried. Also, not sure whose idea it was to have the wooden rocking toy thing for kids because those did not last long. The handles broke after a year. When it comes to usable things for kids to play on at this park, the options are extremely limited. I would've loved to see something that kids could actually climb on and slide from that wasn't meant to be poor installation art. The main thing our kids do when we're there is swing on the only two swings climb up in the big web net thing and roll down the turf hill. The only well-kept areas in this park are the Pickleball courts and the dog park. There's definitely ample parking. There's a community garden that you can look at. If you come at the right time when the figs are ripe, you can pick them right off the tree so that's nice.

Inside, when it re-reopens, there is a gym with a hardwood floor, kitchens, meeting rooms, classrooms, and game rooms. Outside, the park features a large playground area, covered picnic shelters, walking path and a pickleball court. Of course, the playground is roped off but the rest of the park area is accessible. My husband & I enjoy the tennis, esp. the clay courts. I started with the beginner lessons but played singles for a Weddington team at a USTA Southeastern Tournament last summer. Tennis lessons and socials are affordable, friendly, and fun. You can play on the level you desire. You don't have to be a member to take lessons. Mike Murphy is pleasant & runs the club which boasts affordable annual fees. Nice lake front, hence the name, general meeting and activity center for Sun City Carolina Lakes,…read moreseven miles south of the NC border on Hwy 521. The office and front desk people are superb. They are "up" on all the activities coming up and through them you can purchase tickets for them. Very helpful and friendly to residents and visitors alike. Great folks. There is an indoor pool, kept at a nice 84F, so no cold shock. Large lounge area, computers for internet access, a ball room that can be segmented into three areas, a full pottery studio with six wheels and two kilns, beautiful outdoor porch and meeting rooms. The three story gym includes an indoor eighth mile track, weight machines, treadmills and ellipticals and lots of free weights. At one end of the ball room is a full kitchen for demos and the "Cooking Fingers" club uses it for their meetings and guest chefs. There is also a large outdoor pool open from May through September. When the outdoor pool is operating, children (yes, there are lots of grandchildren visiting residents) are restricted from the indoor pool. In the winter months, the indoor pool is open for child use and weekend days from 1pm - 4pm. There are six tennis courts, two pickle ball courts, two horseshoe pits and indoor there is a coffee and snack cafe open from early morning until just after lunch. In all, the Lake House is the hub of activities for Sun City. An additional amenity center, as it is correctly called, is planned for completion around 2015, which will include outdoor courts and a pool.
