When I called back the next day, Katie was already expecting my call and immediately connected me with Philip. He had all the details, sincerely apologized, refunded the $45 without hesitation, and even gave me his personal number in case the refund didn't post. Between the fights, unpaid tabs, and what seems to be a shortage of customers, it's pretty obvious that something isn't working. And honestly, I think I can give a little insight into why this bar seems to be heading in the direction it is. Let's start with the lack of professionalism from some of the bartenders. I've witnessed behavior that is completely inappropriate for a professional workplace, including what appeared to be drug use in the bathroom (ALLEGEDLY). Then there's the favoritism--certain customers getting free food and drinks while everyone else is expected to pay. (ALLEGEDLY) Another major issue is the way some of the bartenders interact with the patrons. There are bartenders who, from what I've personally witnessed, maintain ongoing sexual relationships with patrons while knowing those patrons are already in relationships themselves (ALLEGEDLY). There seems to be very little separation between employees and customers, and the amount of personal drama that comes from these situations is ridiculous (ALLEGEDLY). And it's not just casual flirting. When employees are knowingly becoming involved with customers who have significant others, it creates unnecessary drama, tension, jealousy, and conflict inside the establishment (ALLEGEDLY). Then everyone is left wondering why the place is constantly dealing with problems. ‍ The owner can remove the outside tables, move the speakers, rearrange the furniture, or make whatever other changes she thinks will fix things--but the call is coming from inside the house! The biggest problem appears to be the STAFF. I've also witnessed situations where certain people seem to receive special treatment or are allowed to come in without paying because of arrangements involving drugs (ALLEGEDLY). Again, this is the kind of behavior that creates an environment where professionalism goes completely out the window. Honestly, the whole atmosphere can feel like high school drama instead of a professional bar (ALLEGEDLY). And ladies, if you're in a relationship, I'd seriously think twice about bringing your man here based on what I've personally witnessed. There's way too much flirting, favoritism, and employee/customer drama happening, and it creates an uncomfortable environment (ALLEGEDLY). Now, I will give credit where credit is due: Crystal is, by far, the most professional bartender I've encountered there. She actually knows how to conduct herself, treat customers appropriately, and carry herself like a professional. Unfortunately, my overall experience with the rest of the staff has been extremely disappointing. At the end of the day, if the owner really wants to understand why this establishment is struggling, I'd suggest looking much closer at what's happening inside the bar--not just changing what's outside of it. The problems don't appear to be the tables or the speakers. It's the people behind the bar. Both the bartenders I have encountered were very laid back and non judgmental. Also just for notes sake, I do go out by myself so I'm never in a crowd.
