They have shuttles from various locations as there is limited parking nearby. The fair is located around the Cary town hall and beer garden. Wear your sunscreen and good walking shoes. There are lots of trees for shade but walking around you will be in full sun. Only thing I don't like about it is that you will have to carry all your purchases around but looking is free. Loved the bands that played throughout the day as well as the kids area entertainment.

Lines were minimal. The food and beer were flowing. At around 12:40 it became VERY CROWDED !!! There were lines almost everywhere. They obviously decided to UP THE HEAD COUNT for VIP admission. My favorite foods were from Tazhikis (pork slider) and from Cameron Bar And Grill (pulled pork slider). WHERE WAS THE CHOCOLATE COVERED BACON ???? Nowhere to be found !! It was a great two days of "beer sippin', bourbon tastin', music listenin', cigar smokin', and barbeque eatin'." That's what the website said they offered and it did not disappoint. Each guest received a souvenir glass to enjoy unlimited samples of beer and bourbon (plus there were a few wines and other spirits on hand to try). It was nice to discover some local distilleries and learn more about them inside the Tasting Theatre( where we opted to attend one of the seminars). We explored BBQ Food trucks galore but even if you don't eat it there were other options like Cousins Lobsters . I would say if I had to choose which day was best, Friday night VIP session included a Dinner Plate, where you can chose to get a sampler platter from the food trucks with that offer. With VIP, you get in 1 hr early to avoid the lines but food does not start till noon with general admission, so you have been drinking for an hour and in need of some food but the lines are ridiculous so you end up paying for food at one of the food trucks. Should open the food tasting stations an hour early to make it more of a VIP experience. Not our type of wines and did not stay long. They did have live music which was decent.

I would say compared to the beer events they have at the Cary amphitheater, the wine festival draws more of an older diverse crowd (beer festival is a big fraternity bro-fest). Ok, so they do have a lot of sweet muscadine wines at this event, and I am not a huge fan of the sweet wines which basically taste like kool-aid with alcohol. I generally like the dry red wines, but when the weather is warm I will venture over to a white or rose. This last time was really warm so I tried a white and a semi-sweet red. I liked the white wine the best which was from Chatham winery in Morrisville. I would say if you are really into wine, you probably won't be impressed with the NC wines at this festival. IMHO California wine is much better as is French wine and I have been to some wine festivals in Virginia with much better wine offerings. North Carolina is known for barbecue, not wine (unless you count Cheerwine) However, If you want to spend a day outdoors in nice weather (usually) and catch a wine buzz while listening to bands then Great Grapes wine festival will be a good time!

I was on the search for a band that could cover music from the 80s and early 90s and could keep the crowd excited!! West Street Band surpassed my expectations. I never had the opportunity to go hear them live before I hired them and they really impressed me and the crowd. Mike the lead singer was so easy and professional to work with. The band showed up right on time and was ready to rock n roll when the event started. This was the first event where I actually had folks dancing out on the dance floor and I have to give credit to the band for that. I look forward to working with West Street Band again in the future and I highly recommend them for events big or small.
