Took 6 weeks or more to get my glasses and had them not even 2 months and they started falling apart. Took them back and now they have to order me a new pair. read more

Amazing helpful staff! I was out doing errands and the screw holding the side paddle came out of my prescription glasses....so i was driving and with one hand holding my glasses on. I found Peak on Yelp and it was close by. I popped in and told the woman running the front desk my predicament. The shop was very busy that day but she went on her own and found a replacement, installed it and cleaned my glasses and returned them....and insisted it was free! What nice service. So now I know exactly where i will go when I need a new pair of glasses! I will be back! read more

Wow after being a customer for 30 years I am very disappointed and disrespected by the front office staff !!! I've read some of the other reviews and see that others had similar experiences. I purchased a pair of Prada frames with the insurance and my cost the bill was right at 1,000.00 the frame was 480.00 a bit pricey. I got the insurance for a year and my frame broke in half right after the insurance expired. The girl at the front desk was very rude and direscpectful. I ask for the manager and she was no help at all. The Dr gave me 3 samples of my contacts and I left them, I ask the rude girl at the front for them she said the didn't have them and gave me 1 pair and said I should be grateful for that !!! Our whole family goes to Peak Eye Care, each seeing a different eye doctor. Love them all. They have a great selection of eyeglasses and sunglasses. They carry a wide variety of designer brands and affordable wear. We're all in Ray-Ban's and loving them! The staff is wonderful to work with. Perhaps once upon a time this was a premier eye care center. The prices were a bit high, but you pay for premier eye care. The doctor was a bit aloof, but we talked. Glasses ordered. Not once, but twice, and well, I asked for a refund as after two attempts to get my prescription correct, another appointment and a new order had to be done and I said, no. Got a refund and cannot recommend Peak Eye Care Center. The staff seemed disgruntled and with the "new computer system" the staff exhibited great frustration. So who is to blame? The corporate takeover, the software, the user, the staff the doctors? Does it matter? I have left the care off Peak and moved on. read more

I have had my first pair of eyeglasses made here since coming to Hickory, North Carolina. I know it shouldn't have taken as long as it did this time. I got no notice about it by phone nor text. So I went in to inquire. I believe the person just lied to me about the situation. I believe the situation has not happened to anyone else. I wanted to find a new eyecare center because I grew increasingly unsatisfied with the care I received/didn't receive at the larger eye conglomerate monopolizing Hickory. I had never heard of Peak Eye Center but I saw them advertised, took a chance, and made an appointment with a Dr Sigmon. I rarely write reviews but I have to say this was the best decision I could have made regarding my eye care. Dr Sigmon was professional, cordial, attentive, and even spent extra time trying to find the best pricing on a pricy prescription I needed for my eye problems. He went above & beyond what any doctor is expected to do giving recommendations and suggestions for my care. After numerous years spent with the large eye center in the area, I am amazed at the difference in care and service. He reminded me of doctors from many years ago who actually cared about patients. What a relief to find a doctor like Dr Sigmon. A great decision for me! read more

Find somewhere else to spend your hard earned dollars. These people are kind or considerate of their customers.. In the past 4 months I have purchased 2 sets of new glasses for my granddaughter with warranty's culminating in $580. The lenses on the first pair were scratched and needed to be replaced. The second pair were purchased when the first pair were sent out for repair. This was 3/11/24. We were told it would take 2 weeks. The new glasses arrived within 2 weeks. After more than 5 weeks we had not been notified that the repaired glasses had come in. I called on Thursday, 3/18 about 4:45 pm. Yes, the glasses were in but they close at 5 and would not reopen until Monday. I asked If they could hold locking the door until I got there. No. They could set the glasses outside the door but couldn't guarantee their safety. I said I'd try to get there by 5. I arrived at the door at 5:01 pm. The door was locked and these large moon faces were sitting behind their desks not looking up like I wasn't there. They wouldn't even come to the door and pass the glasses through. ONE MINUTE! And they refused to give me the glasses forcing me to wait 4 more days to get them. I am in utter disbelief at the lack of customer care with not a single apology for the incredible delay or their abysmal behavior. Shop anywhere else but here. read more

I've been coming here since early 2019 when I first moved here . Every time I have came the staff is always very down and miserable . Today will be my last time coming one of the staff was rude, the doctor didn't even care how I felt ! I told one of the other staff how I felt and she asked is there anything she could do, I just think it's funny how a staff member tried to comfort me but the doctor could care less .. I have been living for 6 years in Hickory and never encountered a situation of this magnitude. My mother moved recently to the US from PR. She's been learning English and speaking is a bit difficult for her. Because she needs new glasses, a friend suggested us to use the Peak Eye Care office, as apparently, they have great staffing and do a very good job. The day of her appointment came, and not only did she was not received properly, as there were three ladies doing nothing at the front desk that didn't even to talk to her when she came in, these same ladies laugh after attending her once she turned around because of her accent. My mom felt so uncomfortable that she told them to cancel the appointment as she was not coming back. Once out of the office, she called me crying letting me know about this. I asked her if she was sure they were laughing at her and she said yes because she was the only one in the waiting area and it happens immediately she turned around. I decided to call and speak to a supervisor, who told me to wait a call from her supervisor. Once I received the call, I explained him what happened to my mother and my discomfort due to their discrimination and racism attitude to an Hispanic woman just because of her accent. He them told me he was going to speak with the ladies to get to the bottom of this situation and will call me back. He did, and said they never intended to laugh at my mom and that he will personally go and make a call of attention but the damage was already done. My mom will always have to live with this awful experience. By writing this post, I just want to encourage anyone who read it to always speak up so it does not happen again. read more

My daughter has used this office since she began school at LR. The past four years, every time we have called or used their office the staff has been extremely helpful. My daughter has had internships in other states and and out of the country and in the past years the staff has gone out of their way to help us. However, this past week I called on a Monday and as of Tuesday of the following week had not received a call back (with two other attempts). The solution of the answering service was to "stop by". She is home for the summer-three hours away. Thankfully she needed to return to town for something unrelated and was able to stop in as she is again leaving the country for an extended period of time. The front desk was immediately rude and condescending to her, charged our credit card wrong initially, and told her the insurance could not be billed because it had not been a full year. However, we knew from talking to the insurance directly she was indeed eligible to file for contacts again. I never write reviews but was just so frustrated with the whole experience. It used to be such pleasant interactions, but whatever has changed has not been for the good. read more

As good as it gets when it comes to Dr. Boan! What a nice man and it is just like the old days in getting to know him, personally. Not only do they have a super convenient location but the opportunity to know him (and through the coming years) is just like the old days of actually being able to enjoy life with the same Doc. As a privately owned place, it is comforting to not have a cookie cutter service (like other places) where the Doctors change or come and go. I've been a patient for many years. The past year the front desk staff have been horrible. For some reason the people handling insurance have no idea how to handle filing 2 insurances and now there is always an issue and delay when I order contacts. No one calls back and it's very frustrating to get an order placed. I'm going to have to change offices. It's a shame they can't get it together because the Dr's are great. read more

I recently made the move to the Eye Care Center. I had been with one of the VERY large eye care "mills" in the area. I started having a little bit of vision trouble, and tried to get appointment over at previous. First available appointment was 6 WEEKS AWAY!!!!! I decided to look around and I found the Eye Care Center. I called and asked for appointment. I got one within two days of my call. I have since made my first visit. Everything was very quick and very professional. Dr. Weeks very quickly discovered vision troubles, got me in contacts to correct, and ICAN SEE AGAIN! I had been looking to get my eyes checked for sometime but every office close to me were out 3-4 weeks, one I called over 2 months!! When I went into the office the staff was caring, sympathetic, and VERY understanding. They helped me through the entire process and even got an appointment the same day! Everyone from the pre-screening to billing have been nothing short of amazing! From someone who has never been to an eye Dr before, in my eyes (no pun intended) they are TOP!! I went for my exam Dec 7th. When I came out to pay and schedule a follow up contact lens visit the discussion was that I needed to get back in for appt and to select glasses by the end of the year. The lady told me it was fine that the information was pulled now and that I didn't need to worry about getting glasses/contacts appt in before the end of the year. That once they have the authorization it is done. Got a call today as I have my follow up for this Friday Jan 11th and they said they are pulling my insurance for the visit and that it is not covered under my insurance. I call to find out what is going on and the lady informs me that what I was told in December is NOT true! So now I can not get my glasses or contacts with the insurance I paid on ALL YEAR because it DOES have to be done within the year. That the insurance is pulled every visit. We are not caring the extra vision insurance in 2018 as everyone in our family had their eye exam and new glasses Nov/Dec of 2018. So rather than pay in 2019 we would pick it back up in 2020 when we would need the exams and glasses again. Well everyone in the family BUT ME! I am the only one who chose to go to Eye Peak. Took my 7 year old granddaughter there this week. Called on Monday, got an appointment for Wednesday. Everyone there was totally awesome! Prompt service! The doctor was great with her. Made her comfortable. The technician that fit her frames to her couldn't have been any better! We love you Pat!!! Will definitely stick with this group! We were with a large practice. Takes 6 to 8 weeks OR MORE to get an appointment there. We were there 3 hours last time! Watched an entire Nemo movie. Much happier with the Eye Care Center!!! read more
