But Dustin (and the other staff who are friendly and totally awesome) aside - I really love this place because it's diverse. A typical morning includes new parents with their kids in car carriers, older women lifting weights and practicing balance, boxers, marathoners, teens, even kids with special needs. Everyone fits in here. The place is basic but totally efficient and has better equipment than the rpac at Osu. The sweat box is fantastic and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I was one of those kids in college that got up and went to the Rec before class to run suicides or lift weights. The first thing I did when I moved to Columbus was join a gym - before I even had an apartment. I've joined Boss a year ago and I'm not sure I've done the same exercise twice. Not exaggerating at all. No one is sulking around, there are no cell phones, theres ZERO judgement. It's impossible to have a bad workout here. There's abundant energy and motivation. The grueling workouts are fun and the time flies. I'm a better person everytime I walk out of the building. Taj and James are important people in my life. They both push and care about me. I talk business with James after workouts. Neighborhoods and real estate with Taj. They ask if everything is ok if I miss a couple days. I admire every single person that is a member at BOSS. They all push themselves, they dont judge themselves or others, they are tremendous leaders, and more so than anything they are tremendous humans. I see no reason to ever workout anywhere else.

He showed me stretches to help with knee soreness when running, how to engage the right muscles after sitting all day, and my favorite stretch to align my shoulders. Prices are reasonable (when I was there $75 for an individual session, $50 each for a group of two) and Juan is great at having a plan for each session yet being flexible to individual requests. (I also met another trainer Lindsi who I would be excited about working with as well.) A nice perk is that they offer more than an hour of training -- Juan follows up, offers nutrition guidance, encourages you to get other exercise, and provides advice on home repairs (okay, maybe just me on that last one.) TLDR: Juan is caring, knowledgeable, and a lot of fun! Definitely a good investment.

Truthfully, I hate every minute if it and I leave exhausted. But I have seen huge results. I am stronger, mor limber, and my muscle tone us popping out. The belly? He constantly brings in new toys to play with (recently its a keg for strongmen competitions). It has gotten busy but its the beginning of the year when newbies arrive for their new years resolutions. As far as cleanliness, He has a crew come in every morning to mop and wipe down equipment. This is a weight lifting centrist gym so chalk does tend to cover the floors by the evenings. If you want to lift you can work in with anyone who is lifting. I joined BLT because if its inclusive culture and atmosphere. This is a community of folks who work hard to make you healthier, stronger, faster or whatever your goals are. Rich and Adam's first words to me when i was looking for a downtown gym were "We don't succeed as a company if you don't get better" Rob-go back to Planet Fitness.

Lots more gym options out there to invest in improvements your health without the expense, health risks, and aggravation of Fit Club!

I recently completed a 6 week New You cross fit program for people aged 50 and over. Let me tell…read moreyou, cross fit is the hardest physical thing I've ever done. The trainers here are great, but they work you. Mitch, Ron, and Elena all know what they are doing and give a good workout. I hate burpees, but unfortunately they are a must when working your core. I made a commitment to the 6 weeks of working out here 3 times a week, along with the recommended paleo diet (for the most part) and was able to lose inches. The hour long classes were made up of 3 parts, including a warm-up, a skill such as beginning rope climbing and learning the proper technique for lifting, and then the real exercise portion. Each session we were given a variety of moves different from the last session, so we didn't get bored. I chose not to continue at this location, only because a) cross fit is hard and I'm a wimp, and b) if I change my mind, there is a club close enough to home I can walk there. I highly recommend Fit Club. It's located in a warehouse across from the parking lot where the water tower, rock climbing, and playground are at Scioto Auduban Park.

Simon took the time to understand my fitness goals, develop the workouts, get me back into shape and motivate me to achieve my goals. He also has a great app detailing each workout and I have been able to track my progression over the past year. It is nice to be able to see the progress and strength gain in one easy place. Schedule flexibility is important and the 5:00am session works best for me and allows me to get in a solid workout before going into work. The mix of cardio, core and strength training has gotten me into the best shape I have been in for many years. I am definitely in better shape today than I was a year ago thanks to Simon and I will continue with him. I would highly recommend Simon and FastTrack2!
