I went to see Dr. Short for the first time this morning and was so happy I found her. My previous chiropractor did not do anything to relieve the pain of an atlas vertebrae that was out of place. After a thorough exam and X-rays, Dr. short adjusted my atlas and a few other places. I have to say that this afternoon when I lay down on the couch was the first time in I don't remember how long that I did not have an aching back of the skull headache. I will be back. read more

I would highly recommend seeing Dr. Oltmann for chiropractic work!! I'm an avid weight lifter and runner and have had back issues for years. since being adjusted by him I've felt more relaxed and feel that my performance has increased on the track and with the weights! I went through a lot of chiropractors before I found Dr. Rathbone. Granted, many of those changes were because I change jobs a lot and I like having a chiropractor close to work, but I hope the fact that I'm now willing to drive halfway across the Portland metro area to stay with Dr. Rathbone is a good indicator of how much I value his expertise. His office is comfortable and clean, his staff friendly and helpful and Dr. Rathbone is the kind of chiropractor who won't try to push extra services and expenses on you, or pressure you for multiple appointments when all you need is a quick "cracking". Unlike many of the others who I have had in the past, he lets me decide when I need to come in. That gives me the freedom to drop in immediately any time my back starts acting up, which means a lot less pain for me. I have never failed to experience significant relief from my reoccurring back and neck pain the day after one of his sessions. Sometimes I feel a lot better as I'm walking down the stairs after the appointment. He is also a very thorough and knowledgeable practitioner; on the initial consultation xray that he took of my spine, he noticed an injury which I had sustained forty years previous (and had forgotten about until he mentioned it), and closer examination revealed that this old injury was causing deterioration of the disc pad at that site. (which explains the chronic nature of my back problems) None of the other chiropractors who had treated me noticed it. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who is experiencing back or neck pain. Or even chronic headaches or other body pain. When I start to experience headaches that seem to center in the back of my head, one session with Dr. Rathbone offers pretty quick relief. That's not to say he can cure necessarily cure your headaches, but if you are having them and you don't know why, this might be one possibility. read more

Before I started going to Dr. Short I had consistent, moderate pain in my right lower back and hip. I went to acupuncture, which helped significantly, but after awhile I felt like my recovery leveled off. I was significantly better, but I didn't feel like my body was in recovery mode yet. After seeing Dr. Short my recovery renewed and it pushed me over the top where many times I am without pain. It also feels like my body is slowly repairing itself. I am able to exercise and play with my kids almost pain free which is fantastic. Dr. Short is knowledgeable, friendly and is a good listener. Before I saw Dr. Rathbone I'd spent over 2 weeks coping with significant pain and a serious range of motion problem that bothered me constantly. By the end of my appointment, most of my pain was gone and I had 80% range of motion again. After my first decent night's sleep in weeks, I had almost 100% range of motion and I was able to do everything I wanted/needed to do, nearly pain free. I have only had two appointments so far, but during my first appt I had the atlas orthogonal adjustment. The next day I had 50% relief from the chronic pain in my neck, shoulders and upper back. More improvement with each day that passed. My pain is just about non-existent. I also have pain in my lower back, as well as other issues (fibromyalgia, panic disorder and Ménière's disease). After the second treatment, the pain in my lower back that I have had for years is slowly improving as well. In general, I have more energy, and an inner calmness that is foreign to me! I am so remiss and should have left a review a long time ago. I have a patient of Dr. Rathbone for about 7 years. Went to him originally for atlas because of chronic neck pain which was a result of over-adjustments by other chiropractors. After a few visits, only using atlas (NO adjustments) I was pain free. He has only manually adjusted my neck ONCE in all these years. I also hurt my lower back about 3 years ago and see him occasionally for that.
