My husband was told to arrive at 9:00 A.M. for a 2-hour procedure that should take 4 hours total…read more At 1:15, when I was expecting to leave, I was informed the procedure hadn't even started yet! When I complained about the delay, the surgery center blamed it on the doctor. I told them I was going home and to call me when he was ready for pick-up. At 4:00, SEVEN HOURS after I took husband in, I received a call informing me that he was heading into surgery and it was requested I deliver his sling. I declined to drive back down until he was ready for pickup. At 4:42 the doctor called and said surgery was complete and husband should be ready for pick-up in about 90 minutes. The doc indicated he had nothing to do with scheduling and said would speak to the center supervisor about the lengthy delay, which he agreed was poor planning. Three minutes later, the surgery center called to tell me husband was coming out of surgery and again requested I head on down to deliver the sling. I told them I just spoke to the doc and he said husband wasn't ready for pick up yet and wouldn't be for quite some time. Considering I had already waited there for over 4 hours needlessly, I had no intention of driving back and waiting for another 90 minutes. I complained about the unreasonable delay and got the standard BS about how I shouldn't want them to rush a surgical procedure. I don't want you to rush a surgical procedure; I want you to not tell us come in at 9:00 for an appointment that I found wasn't scheduled until 11:00, and then didn't actually start until 4:00. This is not the hospital and you are not overrun with COVID patients or gunshot woulds that take precedence. This is a surgery center with allotted times for each procedure and, although procedures sometimes run longer than expected, they also often are shorter than expected, such as my husband's procedure, which was scheduled for 2 hours but only took 45 minutes. At 5:45, I received the call that husband was finally ready for pickup. He was released about 6:15 - five hours later than expected and NINE HOURS after being brought in for a 45 minute surgery . THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Worst medical care system ever!…read more Our wonderful doctor of 22 years retired last year and we are trying to find a new primary care doctor. Well, good luck with that! We have tried calling four doctors so far. Right now, our primary need is to refill current prescriptions that we got from our old doctor less than 8 months ago. But, what a run around we are getting, since each doctor in the FMC system we called is telling us we are considered NEW patients and the next opening for a new patient appointment is in four months. So, after 22 years we are new patients? So, all those previous 22 years of office visits, physicals, tests, surgeries, etc. suddenly don't count? So every time I want to see a different doctor I am going to be considered a new patient? And therefore have to wait four months for an appointment, for a visit during which I see the doctor for only 15 minutes. Well then, what is the reason for being in the FMC system? All we need right now is to refill our prescriptions, something that we cannot wait four months to do. These scripts were written by a FMC doctor, why all the hassle when we just need refills. Oh wait... I was able to get an appointment for the following week to see a doctor when they wanted me to have two expensive test procedures. Oh wait... we were also told of a new FMC policy. Patients are now required to see a FMC doctor TWICE a year, whether they need to or not or else they go back to being NEW patients again. Florida Medical Clinic system seems more concerned with the bottom line of money making than in any real concern for their patients' health.

I went in today for terrible hip pain. My hip seems to be out of place and it's making it hard on…read moremy everyday life. I had to leave work due to numbness in my feet only after standing for 10 minutes straight. I have had this issue for months and it keeps getting worse. I believe it's nerve problems caused by an underlying condition, they did not seem to care. They said a MRI is what I need but they won't give me one even though they are also an imaging facility so they should have machines to give me one. They seemed disappointed that I didn't have pain due to an injury recently although they could tell I was in pain. The workers got annoyed when I asked questions about what I was getting done and when I listed more problems that I was having. They kept pushing it off saying " it seems like sciatica nerve pain and there is nothing we can do here". Which I find ridiculous, they could have ordered more scans for me so they could find why it's getting worse especially since it's been going on for 6-7 months. They gave me three pills , a lidocaine patch , and a shot which all barely helped. I do not recommend going here at all.

More worried about his ego than doing his job correctly, Greg noted my dad had an issue with his pacemaker on his chart. My dad does not have a pacemaker. When I told him he had the wires from a previous heart surgery replaced, he insisted my dad had open heart surgery and not a replacement. Excuse me?! I was with the man on Monday for the surgery. Then he placed an IV line that was faulty and far more painful than it should have been. When the techs at CT pointed out they needed a new line, his ego again took the lead and he had to "prove" he did it correctly which the ENT who was in charge of transporting him pointed out blew the vein. Apparently it took getting a new nurse at shift change to get a correct chart to be made and the transport to actually happen. Once she came, everything moved swiftly and with accurate information. Care for my sister was equally good. Great communication and nurse Paul was excellent. Greg needs to check his ego at the door and put the focus on his patients.

RELIEF! This experience was tragic for us. But their experience & confidence in what they do made…read morelife so much easier for us to endure through the process beginning to end. My husband had surgery Dec 8, 2016. Before going in he had been having very high blood pressure, had several episodes of kidney stones, was in chronic pain especially his heels, knees, elbows & wrists, he battled chronic fatigue, sleep apnea, heart burn & extreme moodiness. Up to being on the stretcher going into surgery I requested pillows to help prop up his knees & lay across his lap to rest his hands on to try to make him more comfortable which he still was NOT. After going back to prep for surgery, have surgery & wake up in recovery approx an hour my husband was in better mood! He had his IV out & was talking. I asked him if he needed his pillows back & he said he was fine & wasn't hurting at all. When discharged a couple hrs later he was ready to eat! We went back to the hotel by shuttle & ate in their restaurant. He ate mild hot wings, blacked fish & seasoned veggies with lemonade to drink. Fasting for surgery and being about 4 pm (this is food & drink he generally can't tolerate on a normal day!!!) I was surprised he did well. When we got back to the room we played a full game of rummy with him wide awake (out of character with his usual preference to nap without being in surgery). After the game of cards he wanted Pizza so I ordered a pepperoni Pizza with great warning! But he tolerated it!!! That night he tried to get us up & on the road to head back to the Panhandle of Florida which took us 6 hrs to get there due to road construction & heavy steady traffic. When we got home he proceeded to go out to work in his garage! He has surgery less than 24 hrs ago. He has so much energy compared to before. He (we) now sleep all through the night without to 10-20 episodes of apnea that waked us up before each night. His blood pressure is now within normal limits & NO MORE bone & joint pain. He had a small growing lesion above his left eye lid for a solid year BUT it disappeared. I am hopeful he won't have anymore kidney stones. My happy, friendly husband is back! He had been missing for 12-14 yrs! This group of persons that work there were all extremely kind & informative. They answered questions I did not think of yet. The doctors are extremely confident about their knowledge & surgery of the Parathyrold. While we were there waiting for him to come from surgery we met people from New York and out West. One had previous surgery at a Mayo clinic but they were not complete in their surgery & she needed another so they referred her there. I am so THANKFUL for their practice & expertise! Worth the surgery!!!!!
