I've visited Peaked Pie many times to get their famous Aussie-style pies. I loved The Hopper (Kangaroo) and making it Peaked (with mashed potatoes and gravy). This time, I visited for a limited item for the Hot Chocolate Festival. I had a very delicious one last year, so I revisited to try the new item for 2025! #145 Happy Little Vegemite - A unique Australian twist on hot chocolate, featuring milk chocolate infused with a touch of Vegemite for a savory saltiness. Served with a Vegemite brownie, where the slightly salty, earthy undertones of Vegemite enhance the brownie's moist, decadent crumb. Vegemite is a spread from Australia, and it was a very unique ingredient to collaborate with hot chocolate. The hot chocolate texture was very smooth, and the Vegemite flavor wasn't overpowering. The Vegemite brownie was very delicious! It wasn't too sweet, and I could taste a slight saltiness in it. The presentation was gorgeous, with lots of whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and rimmed candied nuts. So delicious! This shop's signature is pies; however, their drinks are great too.

Pies are always good here but I'm here for the lamington. I fell in love with lamington after trying it at a farmer's market in Sydney eons ago. That was still the best I ever had. The lamington here is a bit of Aussie I miss, especially as I used to visit every other year when I was younger. Flat white is also good. This is a slice of oz here if you are missing it. Besides lamington, you can also get Anzac biscuits and vanilla slice. Good place for a light meal. I must confess one pie even with the mashed potato and mushy peas is not very filling. You will probably need two or three pies to feel full. So I usually just come here for the flat white and lamington. Friendly staff too. Parking is easy along the street or a couple of blocks away in the residential area. There's also a bus stop right in front. Very convenient to also grab something while waiting for the bus.

I've heard good reviews about this place from a few friends so I had to try it for myself! They have a pie with ground kangaroo meat in it, so I got it to try as well as got it peaked (added on mashed potatoes and peas). The total came out to be around $20, which I think is a bit on the pricier side, but the pie was quite good! The kangaroo meat filling tasted very similar to beef, and had a spiced flavour to it. I think it would have been a bit dry without the peas and mashed potatoes, so I'm glad I got the add-on. Overall, I had a good experience trying the pie. The place was neat and the girl who took the order was friendly.

My family and I stopped here last Saturday after lunch. We came in for a coffee /chai latte fix that day. We ordered Latte, coffee and Chai Latte. I personally found Chai Latte to be sweet and ended up not liking it. Coffee and latte were good. Please do not order Chai Latte here it tasted too sugary. I changed my mind after one sip and felt sorry to ask for a refund. Surprisingly the staff gave me a difference after getting a roast coffee. Service was fast and friendly here. I've never tried their pies, but will have to try them on the next visit.

This is our first time at the Burnaby Heights location of Peaked Pies but I've been to the locations in Whistler and downtown previously. We came around Thanksgiving but missed out on the pumpkin pie. I got the steak and mushroom "peaked" (mashed potatoes and peas) and it was delicious. I usually recommend eating in as I find once the pies cool - they're not as tasty. The Burnaby Heights location has lots of seating and even had a little patio area outside if you're wanting to sit out.

PEAKED PIES in Burnaby is definitely a pie paradise! Their pies are practically legendary in town, so we always turn to them when there's a house party in the works. We had their seasonal pumpkin pies to go. The flaky crust stole the spotlight. Delicious! What impressed us the most was the perfect balance of flavours - not too sweet. After a quick warm-up in the oven, they were ready to satisfy our guests at the party. As loyal customers, we have always been blown away by their consistently amazing food. Without a doubt, they serve the best pies in BC. Having them right here in the neighbourhood is a sheer delight. If you're in Burnaby and seeking top-notch pies, PEAKED PIES is the place to be! Food: 5/5 Must Try! Service: ‍‍‍‍‍ 5/5 Kids: 4/5 Price: Range between $10-$20 Presentation: 2/5 Parking: Street parking available in the neighbourhood Tips: * have a variety of pies available, both sweet and savoury options. * offer takeout and frozen pies for baking at home. * have meal combos available, allowing pie pairing with draught beer. * is an ideal spot for date nights or brunch. * offers family or party packs for larger gatherings. Great service where staff are friendly and knows their menu well! They recommended the carrot lava cake with its cream cheese filling in the center, it was on the sweeter side but perfect on a day with sweet tooth craving. The lamington dessert is a vanilla sponge cake with chocolate and coconut and I recommend enjoying it with whipped cream and raspberry jam. Ambiance is very relaxing here and I just noticed that they have patio area by bus stop in addition to their table seating inside. Light music, lots of natural lighting plus beer options = refreshing and chilled. I especially appreciate their chilled vibes on these extra hot summer days! Salad looked fresh and makes me more curious to try than their pies. They have a couple meal combo options such as the roll + salad combo, and breakfast combo, etc. Their Ned Kelly looks yummy and the breakfast combo with a breakfast pie and coffee is actually avail until noon instead of 11am. This location also had a offer for 50% off on two selected frozen pie flavors which could make for a good lunch the next day. Interesting place to visit during Crave the Heights - perhaps you will discover a menu item or a peaked pie that piques your interest.

We went out for a late dinner at Peaked Pies in North Burnaby. I had tried a couple of pies from the Denman St. location a few years ago, but back then I'd only gotten the ones from the fridge and brought them back to my parents' place to bake and eat. There's no "peak" when you eat it that way. This time I finally got to experience the "Peaked" version of Peaked Pies.  I had the Vegetable Medley while my daughter shared a Steak, Bacon & Cheese with her daddy . Mmmmm...it was so good. Kinda similar to Sheperd's pie, except it had the addition of mushy green peas, gravy and pie crust. It was a very satisfying meal and an excellent choice for a late meal as the pies were already pre-made; they just needed to add the mashed potatoes, mushy green peas and gravy to it. Much quicker than going to a restaurant, ordering food, waiting for food, and then finally getting to eat food!  Service: Good Parking: Free parking on Hastings St. Location: In Burnaby Heights, on Hastings St. @ Gilmore

Not the first time I've had Peaked Pies but both experiences were pretty similar (had it once here and once at Whistler). I always think the gravy will amply cover the peas, potatoes, and pie but it's always lacking. The peas are a bit bland in flavour as a result and so is the mashed potatoes. Realistically, this concept is one I should like. But there just isn't enough flavour overall to my tastes

Decent but expensive (Australian) meat pie place in Burnaby Heights. Parking is available in on Hastings and Gilmore streets, as well as the city lots in the surrounding area. The place is modern and hipster. Lots of wood and glass. There's a nice patio outside too. The pies are some 15cm (6") across. As of the time of writing, each pie is some $9, without toppings. Make the pie "peaked" (pile of mashed potatoes and a scoop of peas on top, with some gravy) for another $4.50. 1 pie isn't quite enough for a full meal, so most people would be looking at 2 regular pies, or 1 peaked one. There is also a slight discount when buying bulk pies (batches of 4 or 9). This place also has a decent coffee/tea selection. Interestingly enough, they also serve beer. Special mention. The pies are quite tasty I must say. I tried the chunky steak & mushroom, as well as the beef curry. Crust isn't too dry, and the pies are filled to the brim with goodness. The peaked bits aren't super tasty to be honest. Personally I would recommend 2 (non peaked) pies instead of 1 peaked pie, for a few bucks more. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point in the future.

We loved everything about this place! Free 2 hour street parking! Nice indoor and patio seating. High ceilings; warm lights and simple yet elegant decor! The best part were the pies! We ordered Ned Kelly breakfast combo and latte and a few other pies. Took away 4 frozen butter chicken, which were 50% off! Warm hospitality and simply wonderful pies! Reminds us of when we had amazing pies like this during the few years we lived in Australia! It would be amazing if they had a location closer to Langley and Abbotsford! But we were happy to drive to Burnaby just to get them! Love, love, love!

Yum! Such delicious and filling comfort food. I got some pies delivered and was not disappointed! The traditional Aussie was great - definitely get it peaked! Something about the peas, mashed potato and gravy just hits the spot. The sausage roll was also great with flaky pastry and stuffed with meat. I also got the minington but it was very mediocre - so would pass on that next time.

Chunky steak and mushroom peaked pie

Saw this place as I was driving by looking for eats whilst wifey was getting a facial. Stopped in and ordered a chunky steak and mushroom pie. Got it peaked(mash, peas, gravy) also got a sausage roll and latte. The pie itself had a nice flakey crust that soaked in the gravy giving it that lovely doughy consistency you usually get when soaking pastry with gravy, tasted delicious. The seasoning inside the pie and with the gravy/peas/mash was perfect. Not too salty and tasted so good. I loved every bite of it. Sausage roll, as I'm always looking for a good sausage roll I thought I'd get one of these on the side. The pastry again on the outside was flakey Anna quite nice. Sausage itself was tender and decently flavoured. I myself prefer a more peppery seasoning so I wasn't to big on this but it was a good sausage roll despite my bias! Latte was standard good quality fare and I enjoyed sipping on it whilst nomming on the meat pie. Definately would go back and take wifey next time. Gravy is veggie based as I am told as wifey is allergic to beef but there are plenty of non beef pies available!

It is also a fantastic spot to work if you wanna have a café setting because their pastries and bake goods are absolutely fantastic. In fact last year for Christmas, we bought one of their Christmas cake options which proved to be super popular with the family. What I love about this location is the decor. On one side it is a simple industrial warehouse. But it has that post modern feel with all of the live plants. The live plants is what I love and the tall ceiling for the plants to fully grow. Though if they are looking for something else, which could really bring this to the top, it would be to have a fish tank. A fish and or water feature around the massive plant island in the middle of the dinning area would be chefs kiss. Of course, what about the food? From here, I find the food here is excellent. Sometimes the flavour combinations are a little weird. But that's typical for the Vancouver foodie scene. Vancouver food scene is a fusion hybrid of local ingredients mixed with traditions from cultures from other places around the world. But the bottom line is the portions are a good size. The platters in particular are large and would feed a very hungry person. You definitely get your moneys worth. You don't get much table service once you are done with your order. But that is all right because of it size and volume for the amount of people who come through. I am totally happy with the self serve station, which could be enhanced and the large setting with all of the very mature plants. If I would offer advice to anyone it would be this. If you are going to be there on the weekend arrive before 9 AM. People start lining up at 10 to 15 minutes before the store officially opens. The liquid part was kinda "meh" for me. I think the best thing we ordered was the matcha soft serve ice cream. On the flip side, there was a guy playing piano there and they were taking requests. I suggested Demon Slayer and the guy played the famous "Gurenge" song by Lisa from season one of Demon Slayer. That was kinda cool. He was a very good pianist. Great way to liven the atmosphere. Also, there was a guy who came around and gave us all tiny paper cranes. It's nothing much, but still always nice to be gifted with anything at all. Business must be hard for them. It would sure be nice to see them return to how they used to be, with a bigger menu, tastier drinks and more days/hours again. We love this place for the manga/ anime vibes that it exudes, and love the Matcha soft serve ice cream they sell here. I wasn't going to write any reviews because I just don't want to spend time doing it. But when I showed pictures of the cake Cory created for my daughter to my family and friends, I knew I had to write one. I was also reminded by my cousin and sisters about that rip off cake I received last year for my son. The cake we all called the Photocopy cake ( see review for Yummy Yonnie Cakes) But first, let me tell you about CORY'S cakes from HEY CAKE THIS! Cory does not limit the style, colour, theme, flavour, filling or size of the cake. He gives his clients free range. But keep in mind, price will obviously go up the more elaborate your imagination. If you can imagine it. He will create it! I reached out to Cory to get an idea of how much a Poppy cake would be and I even sent a picture I found online to him for reference. I told him to put many flowers and make the cake pink. I wanted strawberry filling, with fresh strawberries and a vanilla cake. Boy did he deliver! The cake I received exceeded my expectations. Everything on that cake was fondant. He cut out all the flowers, the letterings, the number, AND the star of the cake.... POPPY! He made a 2D Poppy! Nothing on that cake was a photocopy image stuck onto sugar paper. Look carefully at Poppy. Her dress, the eyes and mouth. So much details. Cory handprinted some of the details on her too. I commented on his Poppy and how I appreciated him not doing a photocopy image. He told me if the image is not complex he will do all it all freehand. I only gave I'm a week and a half for this cake too! Due to the pandemic, Cory offered free delivery. He wanted to make sure his cake was in the best condition for his clients. Cory is also very considerate. When he arrived, he actually took out a fold up table to place his cake on. He did not want to put the cake on the floor or ground where it could pick up germs. After he put it on the table, he stepped back (social distancing) so that I could take it. The box the cake came in was GOLD with a pink ribbon to complete the look. Did you know he actually MAKES all his boxes the cakes go into? No cheap see through cellophane. But a nice gold colour cardstock box. This is better because if the cake was to be a surprise , the box will definitely keep the cake hidden. My kids recycled the box and make gold cut out starts and crowns for their dolls. Cory is definitely a master cake creator. He will not disappoint. The communication between him and I for the cake was awesome. Before he went ahead with anything he was unsure of, he reached out to me. He wanted to make sure his suggestions was something I would also like. Vancouver is fortunate to have their own 'Duff Goldman'. I regret not having found him sooner to make my cakes. The Photocopy cake was an expensive lesson. Don't go to a place that limits you or brush your feedback off. GO TO CORY from HEY CAKE THIS! You won't be disappointed! I look forward to my two other cakes in the next few weeks! I will post it here as well for everyone to see. His work speaks for itself. All his reviews are excellent. Nothing less than 5 stars. I wish I can give him 10 stars! Cory's custom cakes ARE worth the splurge 1-2 or even 3 times a year! Thank you Cory!
