Came here to try to order the matcha latte I had kiddie corner at their cafe, however they do not have it at this location; ended up settling on a wonderfully flavoured vanilla decaf americano Misto at kid's temperature, and they made it PERFECTLY. Service was quick and they were very friendly. Loved that the place was decorated festively with poinsettias and a lit up lamp for the the holiday season!

I chose the Pie Shop for a quick but quality lunch with my parents while they were visiting town and I was once again very happy with the food, as were they. I had a slice of Roasted Red Pepper and Goat Cheese Quiche and a Chocolate Raspberry Cream Pie, and I had an Iced Mint Green Tea to drink. I liked how the quiche was layered, with caramelized onions on the bottoms, then a creamy egg and goat cheese layer, and a spinach-heavy layer with slices of roasted pepper on top. And the cream pie was very decadent and tasty! I really liked the flavour of the raspberry layer and the chocolate flakes in the chocolate mousse were nice. The tea was very refreshing. But the star off comes from how they messed up every aspect of my order. Before we paid, I changed my drink order from a turmeric latte to the iced tea and was only charged for the ice tea, but they made me the turmeric latte anyway (free stuff is great but not if I don't need or want it). They tried to give me a slice of the wrong pie. Some time after we'd all received our sweet pie slices and my parents had both received their savoury pies, I still hadn't gotten my quiche, so I went to ask about it and they'd forgotten to put it in, so I got it a few minutes later once they'd warmed it up. They dealt with all the mistakes fine, but it was frustrating that it happened with everything I ordered. Also I don't like that the default for hot drinks seems to be that they give you a disposable cup even if you order for here even though they have ceramic mugs available.

Solid 3/5 brunch spot. Would not go out of my way to eat here for brunch. The drinks are really well priced at $8-$10 per drink so if you want a brunch drink this is the place for you. The food is tasty with a side of home style potatoes usually and a well dressed salad. A go to brunch spot if you are around the kits area, if you are not dont sweat it you didnt miss something youll regret

I love picking up pies here to go to take home. They have both savory and sweet varieties and although it's been about 8 years since I was last here, it still tasted just as good. It was easy to heat up and made for an easy meal. We did find at the end of the mushroom quiche it was a bit salty but otherwise no other real complaints about either of the pies.

I saw the Pies sign and knew I was headed in the right direction.

Okay. I found this pie shop on Yelp before I was heading to the area and I knew I had to visit. Gluten free and vegan pie?! Um, YES!! And I'm happy to say that it lived up to my hopes and dreams. I ordered a "pie and chai" gluten free and vegan combo (just shy of $15). I can't resist a rhyme like that, nor the idea of enjoying a house-made chai with a slice of pie after a morning hike. Mmm! I went with a gf + vegan blackberry apple after a long look at several delicious sounding pie options in the gf + vegan case. For my chai, I ordered it with coconut milk so it would be dairy free. My friend got a house-made chai with standard milk. They brought our orders out to us at our delightful little table. The pie slice was a great size -- large enough to feel like you're getting your money's worth. It looked amazing and came out just warm enough. The chai lattes were both piping hot, so we couldn't drink them for a bit. I didn't get to drink mine until I'd finished my pie. The blackberry apple pie was amaaaaazing! They obviously know their way around gluten free and vegan baking, because it was easily the best gf pie crust I've ever had. The filling was the perfect blend of sweet and tart. So satisfying and delicious! The chai was a bit disappointing for me. I love chai and mine wasn't great. I realized it was because of the coconut milk, though, so I took it to the counter and asked if I could get it in a to go cup with almond milk added to it. The woman behind the counter agreed (even if she was a bit puzzled by my request at first), and once she warmed the almond milk and added it, the chai tasted 1000% better. So note to self and to all -- do NOT get the chai with coconut milk. Go with almond milk or soy if you need it dairy free so you get a tasty homemade chai! Overall, I was super charmed by this little pie shop. If I lived in Vancouver, I'd come work here and have coffee dates here. Well worth a visit!

Strawberry Rhubarb pie - this is as much as we ate before throwing it out.

We found this apparently nice pie shop and ordered our favorite - strawberry rhubarb. Unfortunately the pie was barely edible. Tastes like they forgot to add any sugar at all (and we don't like things to be too sweet), the crust tasted undercooked and had a very unpleasant texture. The whole thing was just a sour and bitter mess of mush. Honestly probably the worst pie we have ever tried. We ended up throwing it out after a few bites. Extremely disappointing, especially for the premium price! I hope this is not their standard quality. We won't be returning.

I live in the neighborhood and am always cheered by the warm glow coming from Aphrodite's--amid the corporatization of every street corner here, it's nice to see local businesses like this keep going. Even though they've got pie in their name, my favorite items have actually been their soups and cookies. As far as pies, I've tried a savory spinach and feta hand pie, and a slice of the lemon meringue. For my taste, the crust is overly thick, and in the case of the savory pie, the feta, or some other flavor element of the filling was overpowering to the point where I struggled to finish it (I'm not a fan of super earthy, grassy cheeses, which feta can sometimes be). However, at under $10, the soup and bread special is a comforting, filling, and budget-friendly option. The gluten free chocolate cookies are also a decadent treat--almost like eating a flourless brownie in cookie form. The extended hours mean you can come here for an evening snack, to do some laptop work, or perhaps read your latest purchase from the adjacent Banyan Books.

I was so craving for dessert on Sat night and took my mom with me for organic dessert. Sounds like much healthier... When we got there, we saw a short line up for table. We went to coffee shop side to order take out instead. It was incredibly disappointing of Aphrodite! I don't think we would go back again after we saw the kitchen and the pies handling and storage at there! Tons of pies stacking up on the rack with no cover! The cakes in the fridge are melting! All the pies are heated up in microwave when it served. I really suspected the ingredients are all in organic?! We got chocolate banana cream and blue berries pie to go! The chocolate banana cream pie was mediocre and the blue berries pie was so soaky (most the berries were tasteless!!) I didn't expect $7.25 & $9.25 a slice of pie was so bad! This place definitely not recommend!

I've had Aphrodites in my bookmark for sometime now...after reading rave reviews it was a must try. I was in the area so I tried it. The line for the restaurant was long so I opted for the cafe side. I ordered a regular latte and a blueberry lemon scone. The latte was good, the scone was ok, I didn't taste the lemon and it needed a hint of sweetness, for what I paid it wasn't worth it. I'm all for supporting local and eating organic but for latte and a scone for 8.98! You can find the same thing organic and local for less. I know they are known for baked pies so I might come back and give it another try.

I am shocked at their pricing, and the quality is not anywhere close to match it. $60 for a pie, $11.75 for a slice?

The food there was amazing and there was a HUGE variety to choose from along with many drink options and substitutions. The matcha basque cheesecake was heavenly to bite into with a mild matcha flavour that isn't too overpowering for those looking for their first matcha dessert to try. The pistachio cream donut was filled with creamy sweet pistachio filling with pistachios and glazed with a shiny pistachio icing that made bells ring in my ears when I took a bite out of the pillowy soft dough. The apple fritter was HUGE and very filling with nice soft pieces of apple and a piece of cinnamon heaven in every single bite. The peach iced tea was nice and soothing when paired with the oolong and not sweet at all for those who are looking for something to balance out the sweetness from the desserts. The service was also impeccable as the cashier was very friendly and all the workers had big smiles on their faces. When asking for extra plates to plate up our desserts, the staff member that supplied us the plates was kind and immediately brought us our plates. The bakery is also open 24 hours for anyone having a late night craving for a hefty savoury sandwich or those looking for something sweet to start their day early in the morning. We ordered our americanos, breakfast croissant, and breakfast sandwich and found a table in the courtyard outside the chalet-looking building of the café. There is small park in the courtyard along with about half a dozen tables. It was still rather early on a Sunday morning before 0930. It was quiet but neighbours were starting to emerge for their morning coffees, yoga stretches and dog walks. The americanos were rich. Good sign before we tasted our coffee: they were not served in mugs, foamy, and dark. Our croissant and English muffin sandwiches were pressed. My croissant had cheese and turkey slices with an addictive spicy jam. The English muffin halves of his egg and ham sandwiches were so pressed that they did not resemble English muffins. However, he said it was so good with its texture, greasiness and flavours. I think I'm going to get that next time.
