    savoury pie & hot chocolate
    Ashley N.

I've been wanting to come to this pie shop since I moved to Vancouver 4 years ago! I'm glad I finally got the chance today. It's a cozy spot and upon walking in, it feels warm and welcoming. The staff are abundantly full of smiles and are efficient and helpful. I ordered a savoury (chorizo, mushroom, cheese) pie to be warmed up and eaten there, and a blueberry earl grey pie slice to go. I also got a kids hot chocolate. The savoury pie was a perfect lunch/snack for me. The crust was flaky and buttery, and the filling was hearty and flavourful. I love the sautéed mushrooms in it! I am excited to try the sweet pie slice when I'm home. The hot chocolate was alright as well, but I wished it had more of a chocolate flavour. I'm excited to come back at some point!

The matriarch of Cafe Diviano success. The Gabi & Jules are named after the daughters of the baker. This spot is the mothership. Although I enjoyed the Yelp Elite experience of their new store on Hastings Street, this place is another story. Rude staff. Kicks us out after us sitting down for 5 minutes, by announcing we are closed at 3:45pm when in fact they are closed at 4. Looking at their older reviews, it is apparent their business has been declining so much so they leased 1/2 of their space to a martial arts studio. FYI, it is not the times, or inflation. It is the terrible customer service!!

I am not that into pies as most places serve pretty average or mediocre pies. I have heard good things about the pies here and decided to try them when in the area. It is one street away from the main thoroughfare and there is street parking. I love the bright pink decor which you will see when approaching the place. Covid-19 protocol is in place. Two groups in the store at a time. There are patio seating if you cannot wait and want to devour your pie immediately. Besides pies, there are pastries, cookies (even dog treats which is awesome), frozen stuff, merch and more. It can be quite overwhelming so I am glad the flavors of pies is on the big board right at the entrance so I can peruse it while waiting. I got there around 2+ pm and not much choices left as they close at 3 pm (I think). I saw most customers pick up their pre-ordered pies so you may want to do that if you have a specific flavor. I decided to try the traditional apple pie and blueberry Earl grey pie slices. The slice is pretty generous which makes the $7 price tag more palatable. They look like what you see in picture books and taste like what you imagine a home style pie to be. The apple tart is on the tart side with lots of apple slices. Best served with a scoop of ice cream. I love the blueberry Earl grey pie. Not too sweet and fully of blueberries with a light Earl grey taste. I love how the fruit pies are chock full of real fruits, not a jam or purée filling. This will be my go to place in future for fruit pies.

I paid by my card in the store. Where are you? Where are you me I pay over there. Thank you.

I love this cute little cafe in Port Moody. Everything is pink! They have the prettiest pink Marzocco espresso machine and the walls are decorated with nice pastel pink doors. They even use a cute bottle with flowers for their order numbering system. All the aesthetics are gorgeous! The food is also reaallly good. They have a nice breakfast crostata that goes really well with a latte. It was super delicious and more filling than I expected it to be. They have a very nice selection of other pastries and, of course, pie. They also have other cute items for sale and some prepackaged goodies. The staff was really nice and the whole place had a nice lively atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

Whoa...now I see what my friends have been raving about! And they are RIGHT ON!!Gabi and Jules seriously knows how to bake some incredible pastries! We ordered the Loaded Potato Crostata + Ham & Brie Croissant + Strawberry + Rhubarb Crostata + Earl Grey Shortbread. Everything was exceptionally buttery and flakey you just want to finish everything in one sitting! The bakery is a popular one with a good line that runs very quick, but be sure to go earlier so you have a wider selection to chose from before they sell out at the end of the day!

Key Lime Pie. Tastes as good as it looks

The Key Lime Pie is great! Not overly sweet, slightly citrusy and unbelievably fluffy. The slice I got was a bit on the small side but it worked out for me as I hate having leftover pie. I also tried a bit of their Roasted Peach & Walnut? It was freshly baked so the fruit game me this feeling of comfort. The slice itself looked like a hot mess though. The filling was overfilling and the crust was just barely holding it together. They have such a sweet story to their business that you just can't help but support. Ive tried a few of their fruit purees and marmalades and they are delicious, not overly sweet. Next time I'll need to try an ice cream sandwich or cake pop if I'm in the area.

I was finally in Port Moody for once and made it to Gabi and Jules! This is the cutest pie shop! They have a small patio seating area by the sidewalk which is nice. We picked up a slice of the Strawberry Raspberry Cream Pie and it was delish! We were a fan of the crumble topping and the filling was generous and not too sweet. The crust was buttery and the right level of flakiness. They also had a ton of other delicious looking pastries but I didn't have space for any.

I want to sit someone under that light and interrogate them: how do you make pie so delicious!

Just when you find yourself blasé about hot beverages...Gabi & Jules marches in and steals your heart with a ginger and peach tea latte. Let's start back at the beginning (insert reel rewinding sound fx here). I came for the WHEAT FREE cookies. I need to capitalize (scream) that in case any Gluten-Free yelpers are skimming this. Oh, I know peeps hate the word 'moist' and yet I am having trouble thinking of an alternative in this case. They are the very antithesis of dry! Splodgy, fudge, chocolatey bunches of YUM. The decor is welcoming. We came during the week and sat & talked for ages, which nobody seemed to mind. By the time we left, the dark lot was punctuated with lines of bright lights that added a 'magical' feel to the night. I had a crostata. An open faced apple pie 'tart'. Mmmmm. I may or may not have licked the crumbs from the pie plate. Note: Pie tins can be returned for $0.50 deposit or just kept for reuse at home. What is not to like here? Nothing. The prices are relevant to the area, the goods are made with the best of ingredients and more importantly: tasty. A portion of the proceeds goes to Autism Support. I wish my house smelled like the bakery does when you walk in the door.

I bought several pastries in this bakery in early April. I was so surprised as I ate a black plastic band inside the spinach artichoke (See the images). This was my first time to travel from Vancouver to Port Moody because of their well-known baked goods. I lined up for 15 minutes to purchase the pastries. I am disappointed in this bakery. I left an inbox message via Facebook as I didn't want to share this issue to the public. But nobody contacted me according to this issue for at least 2 weeks. Be careful for what you eat if you purchase pastries in this bakery!

I have tried Gabi & Jules' both in-store and take-out. Both have been very positive experiences and would definitely recommend this spot to anyone who finds themselves in the Port Moody area. The store itself is not very big. There are around 6 to 7 two top tables inside, as well as seating outside. They were extremely busy on the day I went to enjoy I slice of pie in-store. Lots of families going in, which was not surprise given they are close to Rocky Point Park and a martial arts studio is next door. Regardless, we were still able to find a seat. Both my friend and I got a slice of pie and a coffee, which was 8$. I think a slice of pie on its own is $5. There is also the option of doing what they call a "pie a la monde", which is a slice of pie with a scoop of ice cream on the side. The best part about this spot is that they heat up the pie for you. I got the blueberry custard pie, which was delicious and I think is my new favourite pie. Think blueberry pie with an egg tart layer on the bottom. I also like it because it holds its shape really well, which is perfect for no mess cutting (and pics). My friend got the apple rhubarb (strawberry) pie.. the reason I put strawberry in brackets is the menu didn't say strawberry, but then the girl the brought it up called it a strawberry rhubarb pie and we were a little confused, but then we did find apple strawberry and rhubarb in the pie. So I think they could work a little bit more on consistency of pie names among staff. The apple rhubarb pie did not hold its shape as nicely.. looked a little soupy. However, it was pretty tasty still. I didn't really think much of the coffee.... a little watery in my opinion. As for their whole pies, I do think they are a bit pricey. However, their pie crust is one of my favourites, so I don't mind the indulgence every once in a while. Also they come in the same study pie pans they use to serve slices of pie in store, so I think of it as getting a reusable pie pan for free as well.

I lined up first, a white woman came in while I was already in line, instead of taking my order he looked straight at her and helped her. The lady turned to me to check if it was ok and I said yes because I gave the bald one the benefit of doubt. He then takes her order then leaves. Whatever, I get helped by the other guy a minute later. After 10 mins, my friend goes up to order, she is in line when another white woman walks in. Instead of taking my friend's order, he skips her and helps the white woman who sounded surprised (clearly my friend was ahead of her). Don't know what to make it this as it happened to us both and we are both visible minorities. It can't be a coincidence. I've worked as cashier for years and you can always see/get a feel of the line (mind you the line had max 4 ppl at peak) so it shouldn't have been a coincidence to skip us so blatantly both at different times. The pastries tasted sour by the end when we both recollected how we were treated. Racism is well and alive I guess, no matter how subtle. If you have melanated skin, beware.

The amount of filling that was inside amazed me. However, it would have been more enjoyable if it was more spread out, instead of a "log" of filling. Also, after warming up the pastry, the bottom was extremely oily. So oily that it was literally dripping. The meringue on the Lemon Meringue Bar was a bit deflated and dry. The lemon flavor wasn't overly powerful. The Mango Bar, mango flavor was very mild. I would have liked to taste something a bit more prominent.
