If I could give 0 stars, I would. We dropped our vehicle off on 6/21/26 for a scheduled calibration appointment on 6/22/26. On the morning of 6/22, we called to confirm that the keys we left in the drop box had been received. We never received a call that day indicating the work had been completed, so we called again on the morning of 6/23. During that call, we were told they weren't sure why the vehicle was there and had been waiting for someone to call. We were then informed that the calibration would be completed that day. When we picked up the vehicle on 6/23, my significant other noticed that one of the windows had been left down. When he attempted to roll it up, it would not operate properly. What was especially concerning was that no one informed us of this issue before we picked up the vehicle. The window had been left open with paperwork and personal items inside the vehicle, leaving them exposed and within easy reach of anyone passing by. At a minimum, we would have expected to be notified of the issue before taking possession of the vehicle. I called the business politely to ask if anything had happened while the vehicle was in their possession so we could provide accurate information to our mechanic. I was not accusing anyone of causing the issue; I was simply looking for information. Unfortunately, the manager immediately became defensive, raised his voice, and began yelling during the conversation. Rather than speaking to me professionally, he repeatedly interrupted me, called me names, and spoke to me in a hostile and disrespectful manner. He also told me that if I came into the business to discuss the matter further, he would have me arrested. At no point was I threatening or aggressive--I was simply trying to understand what had happened to my vehicle. He hung up on me twice, and when I was finally able to speak with him again, the conversation remained hostile and unproductive. Instead of addressing a legitimate customer concern, he chose to belittle me and treat me with complete disrespect. Regardless of whether the business was responsible for the damage, customers deserve to be treated with professionalism and courtesy. The lack of communication regarding our vehicle, combined with the manager's behavior, made this an extremely frustrating experience. We have contacted our insurance company regarding the damage and will also be filing complaints with the appropriate consumer agencies. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this business. The customer service was unprofessional, communication was poor, and concerns were met with hostility rather than assistance. Based on other reviews it seems this is an on going issue read more

I keep coming back because I know that I can count on them to do a great job dealing with my problems. I'm not sure if my review was deleted...I can't seem to find it here or on the other site I posted on. Do. Not. Take. Your. Car. Here. They will rip you off, berate you, and treat you horribly. Took my car here for an issue that seemed much bigger than it was. The owner, Paul, wouldn't even look at it. Offered to "scrap it" for $100...yeah no. The cat alone on it was worth $1800+. I took it to the local dealership and the fix was only $50. A few months later, I find out my cat was stolen (I'm a minute walk from the auto shop). Very suspicious...possibly illegal dealings going on here. Avoid at all costs. Take it to the Exxon shop located just up the block - fair prices and the owner was extremely friendly. read more

My car broke down just outside of Peake's (lucky right?); they said it was fine to leave it there. It took around 7 hours for them to finally even look at it, and they said it would be "too much of a hassle." The owner was very condescending and clearly did not want to take the job. I would NOT recommend Peake's to anyone. UPDATE 2/11: ended up just taking the car to Toyota - the fix was a simple filter and throttle body clean (FREE OF CHARGE!). What a great business! I took my truck here for some work and they were extremely responsive and very friendly when I came in. Fairly good pricing as well. I won't say it's super cheap but I'm not upset at the price I paid. No idea what the review about rude service is talking about. They were super friendly and did great work. Very disappointed in my experience here. I am a college student and he was very condescending and disrespectful with every interaction we had. I took my truck in for electrical issues. He charged $100 only to tell me that "He has no idea he just has to keep checking things." If he was worth paying $100/hr for labor, then he would be able to come up with a better solution than "I don't know". I don't neglect my truck by any means and he proceeded to tell me that maybe if I took better care of it that I wouldn't have problems. He pointed out the salt and the mud on the undercarriage. There was no noticeable mud and of course there's salt it's winter in Pennsylvania. Overall the guy was just condescending and seemed like he had no clue what he was talking about. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Great repair shop, I would definitely recommend! Paul, the owner and lead mechanic, is the one you'll talk to on the phone. He's the most honest and straight forward mechanic you could ask for. One of my car's issues was with its computer, even though part of the repair went beyond this shops capabilities they still stayed in touch, recommending a car dealer and ensuring the proper repair was accomplished. They charge by the hour and do a great job at keeping you updated on the car's status. I don't plan on going to any other repair shop after working with these guys. read more

Great place! They really take care of your car and make sure to look for all of the problems, not just fix the obvious one.

I went in for a custom exhaust. I wanted 1/2 inch larger diameter and mendral bent. The owner talked me out of it by mocking my car. When I finally got my car back it sounded like an exhaust gasket was improperly installed on was actually fluttering inside the pipe that had the catalytic converter. One of the bends of the new was all crumpled up and poorly bent. Now this next part I can't prove they were involved in but my fuel pump died a couple of days later. I took my car to my regular garage and they said it looked like the fuel pump was smashed by something. I didn't hit anything. read more

If there was a minus star to rate this place, I would give the bottom lowest to get rid of this false 4 star rating of this place. I lived in state college for more than 10 years and have never dealt with this non sense before. First, they quoted me 140 dollars, just to figure out what was wrong with the car. I don't know much about the car, and as I was listening to what he was saying, it seemed like I have to get this fixed now, so I authorized him to proceed with repairing my car. When I confirmed, it was around 4:30pm, an hour before they close. Then I talked to my family and people at my work, they all thought I was quoted too much for the job that was being done. So my family told me to go back first thing in the morning the next day and just pay for the labor fee and get the car back. So the next morning, I explained the situation and told the owner that I would like to pay for the labor fee and get the car back. He start going emotionally and started cursing and yelling saying that I authorized him to do it and if I want it back, I would have to pay $500 in cash to get my car back, unfixed. Also quoting that his dad is a lawyer and if I wanted to sue him, he's ready for it. after round of yelling, curing and shouting at me saying that he doesn't even want to talk to me, he goes, you have A or B. A. Either you pay $500 in cash to have your car back unfixed, or B. you pay 1074 dollars to get it fixed. You choose. I was with my friend at the time, discussing what I should do (not in English). Then he goes, now they're speaking tongueless. It just seemed like I had no option to just let him finalize fixing my car, as he was yelling across my face saying that I have to pay $500 dollars to get my car unfixed. Then, he tells me that I have to pay $1074 dollars in cash when it's finished. I told him that before all of this, I've only agreed to fix it because I thought I was using my credit card. Then he said me and my friend caused it and to get a cash advanced on my credit card to get my car back. It's just.. I'm not an aggressive person myself, never had this kind of issue in my life. I've called the police about this entire situation, not to bargain the price, but to persuade him so that I can use my credit card to pay, as paying in cash was never mentioned upon agreement. The police told me that it's all civil issue and there wasn't so much that he can do. Just the fact that I'm a costumer and I'm the person who's paying this guy... and get all these insulting words and experience.. it's just outrageous. EXCELLENT! Can't say enough about this place. Paul helped me out. Had electrical issue with driver's side headlight. Turned out to be the bulb assembly and ground wire. With labor and parts, it only cost a little over $100 to fix. I went to another shop, they quoted me over $250. They did a great job for a fair price at Peakes. I'm very pleased! Had my first experience with this garage today. I had a flat tire and let them know that I needed a new tire ASAP because I was supposed to go home tomorrow morning. They were very helpful and managed to get my car finished in an hour, so Ill be heading home on time tomorrow. Everyone I spoke to was very respectful and kind and I will definitely be bringing my business back to Peake's. Very appreciative of how these guys handled the situation I was in. A big thank you to Peake's Auto Repair for repairing my daughter's car on very short notice especially when the shop was already busy for the day. First time customer and will definitely use again as my daughter is a PSU student. They were honest and even stayed late to finish her car since she had to drive home early the next morning! I 100% recommend this place to anyone! I have a VW and I took it to the VW dealership, and they recommended a repair that would cost over $8,000 and take 3 weeks to do. Then I took it to Peake's and they said it would be less than $500 and it was done in 2 days. This trip saved me $7,500 and I recommend to everyone that they get a second opinion here (or save time and just go here first). In the past I've also gone here for simple things (replacing headlights) and it was cheaper and faster than Midas. The owners are honest and work with you to get your car fixed in an inexpensive and timely manner, something I think is hard to find. read more
