We sat outside on the deck with the sunshine and hot weather it was a lovely evening, We ordered the Raspberry Mojitos I highly recommend. The pickle Bombs excellent choice for an appetizer. I ordered the chicken Samwich and Old Bay fries. Our waitress was very friendly and had excellent recommendations. We will definitely be going back again soon. read more

This is a review of not just the Peanut Bar, which is a super cool bar with great food and service, but also their new addition...The Cashew. I was fortunate enough to be there to enjoy their brand new outdoor seating area during their soft opening, and tonight we were lucky enough to score a spot at the brand new indoor bar area. How do you rate perfection? I'm not sure, but I think it would look a lot like this. The atmosphere, the staff, and the food are all 5/5 stars! Food is homemade and phenomenal; staff is incredible and attentive, and the new bar area is a thing of beauty! That's not taking anything away from the original; it's a gem, as well. Recently attended a Birthday Party there and the food was Awesome!! Crab balls were excellent, wings were too! Truffle French fries and Ahi Tuna salad was off the hook!! This was our second visit to the Cashew. We had pizza and wings the first time, and were looking forward to trying their dinner menu. It was a typical busy Saturday night, so service was a little slow but our waitress got around of drinks quickly then we put in our food. This is where it went south quickly. Appetizers never appeared. Meals came out almost 50 minutes after we ordered, and not everyone at our table received their food. It took two different waitresses to finally get everything that was ordered to the table. Food was okay but definitely not worth the wait or the price. It's such a great vibe there, love the patio, but we won't be dropping over $100 again for subpar food and service anytime soon. read more

Classic, local, hometown bar. They have an amazing full bar selection (including Bloody Mary's and stout beers, which are both a rarity for the area in my experience) and quite the food menu. It took quite a while to get out to-go orders today, but man...we ordered a TON of food and it was on a super rainy Sunday, so I'm sure there was just one person in the kitchen rocking out everything!! All the food was really good-I thoroughly enjoyed the fried pickle spears (which stayed together when you ate them!) and the Honey Garlic wings with Ranch. If you get celery, also, it is basically a 1:1 ratio. Inside, they have a pool table, gambling kiosks, and some funky peanut murals on the walls. Our server was very nice and it was overall a pretty cool place for a beer and some wings. read more

An update from my previous review. The food is still delicious, the prices are still terrific, and the service is still friendly and it's quicker than it was! Also trivia has moved to Wednesday nights. It's still the most challenging trivia I've come across, but each game offers several opportunities to win prizes. read more

The new Cashew lounge is excellent. The atmosphere is very nice with concrete floors and a designer ceiling. But where it really shines is the food. The food is too good for Carbondale! The burrata was lightly breaded and covered in a very delicious yet slightly spicy vodka sauce. Had the blackened mahi mahi which was so well seasoned and flavorful. But the absolute best was the gnocchi with chicken. The gnocchi were pillowy soft with an out of this world sauce. Finished up with a delicious brookie that resembled some of the best in the business. Overall great experience. Very happy with the food. Certainly on a class level well beyond this small town. read more

I've visited the peanut bar on many occasions and they are by far one of the best small town bar I've been to! The positive energy that radiates from the bartender makes you want to stay and have another beer or two! The prices are great and don't even let me get started on their food! well, well, well... i didn't know what to expect when my fiancé took me here but i was pleasantly surprised! some may consider it a 'dive' bar but with the recent updates it is working it's way out of the category. small spot but lots of seats at the bar and a couple cozy booths. we sat at the bar for lunch and ordered one of almost everything. we started with doritos bites (original concept!) and mac n cheese bites. both were good but the mac n cheese were better! delicious. then we tried the toasted raviolis and the pierogies. so toasted raviolis are hard to compare when you've had the real thing in st. louis... but these were almost there. i wish they were a little thinner but the taste was great! the pierogies are HUGE and their potato stuffing is almost like mashed potatoes rather than a dense potato filling which was different but very good. then we had the wings.... and all 4 sauces: garbage, house (buffalo/blue cheese combo), asian, and mango habanero. my entire party liked garbage the best but the house was a close second. flavors in the other two were also great but i thought both were slightly too sweet. the wings themselves were amazing but VERY hot (temp) when they came out. last, but not least, we had a cheese pizza. sauce was amazing. dough was good but slightly too thick for my taste- i'd like it to be just a little crispier! overall, this is definitely a 5 star place with great BAR food. if they can get even more creative with their menu they have the potential to be even more stellar! read more
