The food was large portions. However I did not love the food. The medium steak came out medium well with a burned crisp outside very seasoned. What a hidden gem! We arrived at 6pm and were seated within 5 minutes (when we left at 7:30 there were 10 people waiting!). The food was delicious (tasted homemade!). Started with beers for hubby and I. Hubby had the chicken/rib combo with veggies, I had the mushroom/swiss burger with onion rings. I noticed almost everyone walked out with a to-go bag, as did hubby! I couldn't finish my burger as it was so big, with lots of onion rings, for quite a reasonable price. I've been to the Loading Dock several times and I'm finally writing a review. The food is always great here, that explains why there's always a wait for a table. They serve generous portions and you're sure to take some food home for leftovers. I've heard the owner gets a bad rap, but you know what? Running a business is hard, let alone a restaurant. I've never seen a restaurant owner so dedicated, that he's pitching in and constantly moving throughout the night and supporting his staff. Whether he's serving food from the kitchen like a waiter or wiping a table/chairs off for new customers, he's always right there working hard. As I said before, the food is always good quality with large portions. However, we ordered the shrimp and crab dip and it was kind of gross. This was nothing but Old Bay flavored Velveeta cheese with bread. BUT my salad was amazing and made up for the poor appetizer choice. I feel in love with this salad so hard, that I finished the entire thing, and started buying the same ingredients in the grocery store so I could keep eating it at home throughout the next two weeks. Place looks like a hole in the wall when you pull up, but when you step inside it's a very nice place. The staff is super nice. This place was recommended to me because I love wings! I've eaten wings all over the United States so I know a really good wing. Now this place there wings are probably good to someone who likes them deep fried to a point the skin is like something you'd find on a cadaver. Just sayin, I like my wings grilled and blackened. But hey everyone is different and that's cool. I just didn't find them very good at all. The house sauce is different also, kinda sweet not real sure. First of all, the food was very good. The portions are insane for the price. Our waitress was friendly and the food came out really quick. The secret sauce wings were an exceptional main, the potato skins were a great app. There were probably 4-5 potatoes in the dish, it was huge! The only issue was the host's attitude upon arrival. I understand that the restaurants kitchen closed at 8, but we did not need to receive such an attitude about it. However, he did redeem himself as time went on. I understand that he could be stressed at the closing time but there really was no need for such an attitude. Overall, it was a very solid experience and I recommend arriving at least 45 minutes before the kitchen closes. Unbeatable value and great vibes once you're seated. read more

Food was good and plentiful, service not so much. The host was friendly but that's were the service stopped! Our Server seemed annoyed that she had to serve us. I don't know if I loved the crowd. Two of the patrons, from different groups, were coughing heavily which made us very uncomfortable. You'd think after the pandemic, and what we've been through, people would be more considerate and dry home if they're that sick, but I guess not in Scranton. Several years back, I reconnected with a dear friend from my teen years. We met here for dinner. Great conversations, re-kindling a friendship. And enjoying some great food. Well here we are again... it has been about ten years but we met up again here. Another great time catching up and enjoying some great food. Great value too. Three of us had decent sandwiches or soup and sodas. Mid $40s with a good tip for great service. It was really busy for a Saturday but we were seated in about 30 minutes. Service was prompt. Food was delivered hot and tasty. Nice presentation. Good for kids. Variety on the menu. Entrees after 4pm. Mostly sandwiches, appetizers, soups, salads before that. All good. Great portions. I have been to this restaurant a few times. The food and service were always good and I have recommended it to other people. That was definitely not the case with my most recent experience. We sat down and the server took our drink order. She brought our drinks and we needed a couple minutes to look at the menu. Maybe two or three minutes later the owner came by and took our food order. Between the time our food order was taken and a different server brought our food out, nobody stopped at our table for anything. Normally a server will stop at your table 2 or three minutes after you get your food to ask if you need anything else, but it was almost like our server was actively avoiding eye contact with us. That is on the few times she actually went past our table and didn't go through the kitchen or behind the bar to go past our table. She did have time though to go to at least two or three other tables multiple times bringing them drinks and cleaning off dirty dishes. Probably 20 to 25 minutes, went past before she stopped at our table again, bringing with her Styrofoam to go containers, and to finally ask if we needed anything. At that point we were pretty much done eating. My son's cheeseburger was OK in the middle and burnt to a crisp around the edges. My food tasted fine but I would have liked a side of dressing and would have asked for a side if our server had bothered to stop at the table. read more

My clients decided to get lunch from this location and I had to pick it up at 11:45. When I arrived I parked in the plaza parking lot. I walked in and waited around for the server. She came up and greeted me. I told I was there for pick up. The price was about $80 for several items and that was great. We weren't even late, probably 1 minute between getting the text and walking back into the restaurant. Our server was very curt, took forever to check on us and take our order. Only non-rude staff was probably the kitchen staff that brought us the food. Moving on to the food. Don't let the quantity fool you into thinking that the food is actually good. This restaurant is so exceptional that everyone, not just the locals, are trying to get in. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has an amazing and unique atmosphere that is extremely attractive and appeasing to all ages. Who knew that I had to travel to Dunmore Pa. in order to get good "Italian Wedding Soup" I was Lyft Driving a fare to Scranton ,PA. from Philadelphia. A trip that takes over two hours. I dropped off the passenger and was looking for a local lunch eatery. I usually don't go to chain restaurants. I found the Loading Dock at a shopping center. The doors are opaque so you can't see how crowded it was. It was the usual lunch crowd. Retirees with their families , some couples and kids. Although it was busy the service was fast. I ordered the steamed Clams appetizer with garlic and butter, Italian Wedding Soup and a Bun-less Bacon Cheeseburger with a side Caesar salad (been doing Keto ). HOLY ITALIAMUNDO! This Philly half-Italian guy was impressed with the Italian Wedding soup. Its even better that mine. The broth was tasty, It had chunks of chicken and mini-meatballs and greens. with some pasta. I ate the broth , chicken, and meatballs (I move aside the pasta) . I commented to the host about how impressed I was. He indicated that the owner is Italian and he created the recipe that the cooks follow. The clams were fresh and the Burger was juicy. It takes a lot to impress me even when in South Philly. I've normally had nothing but positive experiences here- the management is incredibly hands-on, service is fast and pleasant, the beers are crisp, and ALMOST every single dish is a banger. I unfortunately ordered the perhaps singular miss on the menu: the chicken Caesar wrap. The dressing was great, but the texture and temp were a misstep. Putting hot chicken on top of lettuce and then heating the wrap ultimately resulted in wilted lettuce. Additionally, the inclusion of croutons in the wrap itself was (in my opinion) a mistake. I ate half of my wrap in house, and the croutons were hard and disruptive to the eating experience; and the other half leftover, eaten about 7 hours later, and the croutons were soggy due to absorbing the dressing. The Coca Cola was delicious and crisp. Would absolutely come back, and I'd probably order the chicken Caesar salad. read more

They had an extensive craft beer list and I opted for Founders Nitro Rübæus, A nice raspberry fruit beer à la Lambic-Framboise from Lindemans. As for food, Joya, came over and recited her verses. There is a lot to love about the Loading Dock Bar & Grill between large portions of delicious menu items, an expertly curated craft beer menu and top notch service (even the owner is out working the floor) to say you are anything less than impressed with this place then you must be lying. My family arrived on Black Friday lunch after doing some shopping to find a PACKED HOUSE. C'mon people, don't you have Thanksgiving leftovers at home?! We had to wait about 20-25 minutes for a table where me and my step-dad drooled over the tap beer choices trying to decide. STOP THE PRESSES we cried when we saw that had Goose Island Bourbon County Stout on the menu! This brew out of Goose Island in Chicago is generally released on Black Friday and can be somewhat difficult to find. Having this 14-15% ABV heavy hitter for around $10 for a 10.5 ounce pour made me feel like I hit the jackpot. I ordered it as soon as I sat down for fear of them running out. It is limited to 1 per customer, but honestly I would have passed out if I had another. It was all I dreamed it to be - FANTASTIC BEER! My parents familiar with this place only ordered soups and a shrimp quesadilla to split since they knew it was going to be a lot of food. The Italian wedding soup is a hearty bowl with the signature tiny meatballs. I had a taste - big flavor! The french onion soup in a wide crock came with perfectly melted cheese over bread - excellent version. The Seafood Bisque is a another thick, rich bowl packed with various seafood. I am not a generally a wrap fan, but had to go with the SIGNATURE wrap which includes chopped sirloin marinated with fried onions, sweet peppers & American cheese topped with Secret Sauce - ridiculously good. The fries with this were generous and perfectly crisp - we shared them. We also ordered the buffalo shrimp ceasar salad, which had an incredible amount of perfectly fried, spicy buffalo shrimp - too much to finish. It was easy to see why this place was packed. The owner and the wait staff were constantly busy between cleaning the tables, taking orders, attentively checking on customers - they run the place with military precision. The price to portion ratio is off the chart - so much food for the money. This is going to be a must stop when I am up in PA visiting my parents - That tap beer menu is one of the best I seen anywhere along with that amazing food for great prices makes this place a no-brainer!
