The owners, Susan and Larry, were very welcoming and helpful with local information. His wines consist of mainly fruit that he grows on his property and from his neighbors near by. Mr. Martin is very welcoming and full of knowledge, to be honest i could talk to him for hours from making wine to the local towns. His base of operations is small but he produces alot of wine. His wines are not to dry and not overwhelmingly sweet. I will be going back to visit him with a bottle of my own mead for him to try out as i tried his delicious wines.

I have fond memories of the Garlic Festival I once attended in upstate New York - garlic ice cream, garlic breads, and a world of other creative things to do with garlic, growing tips, etc. Alas, the Quabbin Garlic Festival should be called "Another excuse for a Craft Fair." The rows of food trucks were all selling their usual (not particularly garlicly) fare. The rows of booths were selling their usual Arts and Crafts, without even a hat tip to garlic. The only evidence of garlic was one garlic vendor (from upstate New York). I felt cheated - lots of traffic, $10 admission, long lines and wait to take a 15-minute bus from the parking lot, and essentially no garlic content once we got inside. With that said, it is a lovely Craft Fair, in a beautiful location, with plenty of activities and fair food for the kids. I'm sure it'd be a fine day in the sun for anyone not expecting a garlic festival.

Wow, this place really surprised me. I'd been driving by a few miles away for years and never…read morerealized there was a course here until I spotted it on Google Earth. $9 to walk 9 during the week? Count me in for an after work run. I didn't expect much so I was even more surprised at the quality of the course and the country club feel. It's a bit more manicured and open than I thought it would be given the location in rural western MA. The 11th is very picturesque, with a winding brook framing the right side and then cutting across in front of the green. The 15th was also very pretty but a good bit more challenging. The closing 18th is a bit of an odd hole where I had to fight through geese and their legions of droppings but somehow fisted a wedge onto the green and made birdie (it was the only hole where the fairway wasn't in good condition). Looking at satellite images, I guess the course had some serious burnout issues at some point but everything looks good now and was quite lush and consistent when I played.
