I am from out of town from this restaurant/ desert bar. However, if I lived close by this would be my go to late night snack location. There are endless amounts of chocolate items to purchase here. From what I noticed from other customers their food also looked great. I ended up with a chocolate chip cheesecake. Incredible and not too rich in flavor. I had been wanting to try this coffee & cocktail shop for some time. Visited on a Sunday early afternoon- their website said closed on Sunday- but they were definitely open. The vibe is good- candy store with an upscale coffee shop in the same large space. The coffee was fine. Chai tea latte- not special- but ok. The real failure here was service and food. Ordered a breakfast BLT (includes egg in the sandwich). The bread was toasted nicely and the bacon was crispy. The problem was it used a chopped lettuce completely saturated with an odd tasting mayo. I ate 1/2 the sandwich and did not enjoy it- took the other 1/2 home and threw it away. That's bad for a $14 grilled BLT. For me- in addition to the icky sandwich- they can't recover from the abysmal service. We sat down with our coffee and a pager that just did not go off. People came after us and got their food- our pager stayed dark. After about 40 minutes I went to the counter to ask- and it seems the order wasn't put through. Finally got the sandwich- which was totally NOT worth the wait. Spending $26 (including tip) for a cup of coffee, chai tea latte, and one bad breakfast sandwich is not good. You want a tasty brunch- try somewhere else. read more

Lovely spot in Springfield, IL. You can get homemade chocolates for a loved one here, candy for the kiddos, brunch with a friend, or a coffee to go! I chose the brunch with a friend option and got a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon on it! I had never tried bacon on a grilled cheese before, and I don't think this will be my only time. It was yummy! The red velvet cake was delicious. Huge! Realistically perfect for two people though. I loved that each layer had cream in between. Shoutout to Shauntay (sorry if it's spelled wrong)! She took our order and was so fun to chat with and recommended different items for us to try. She also attempted to make a heart in my friend's coffee. She was so sweet! Took my daughter for her birthday. Manager went out of his was to provide a tour of the candy-making area. The food was delicious, chicken salad, and the desserts are not only beautiful but also scrumptious. We enjoyed sampling coffees, and having the option to sit outside made it a new favourite place for us. read more

I met up with friends for a birthday on the evening of 12/18/2024. The establishment itself is lovely; however, there are several areas where they could do better. Since there is no table service, you must go to the counter to order. There is one area with place order here and pick up order here signs. Everything goes through this one area. Maybe they are relatively new to the bar business, but improvements could be made. A separate line to order a cocktail or a glass of wine would help improve the customer experience. We ordered a bottle of wine and one cocktail. Having bartending experience, I noted that the pourers appeared to be free pouring. If you aren't going to use stoppers that measure, then you need to use a shot glass or have a bartender with enough experience to make the appropriate pour for a cocktail. The pour was short. The bottle of wine was a white wine and was hot when they put it in the ice bucket. A couple of people in the group later ordered a glass of the exact wine, which was chilled, so the hot wine made no sense to us. Finally, one group member ordered the pretzel charcuterie board, and the pretzel was ice cold. She was looking forward to a warm pretzel. The others in the group enjoyed their food, and one person also had dessert, which they thought was fantastic. A candy store, a café, and a bar might be too much to manage in that one space but it could work with some minor changes, maybe. read more

Someone finally gave Cracker Barrel a makeover! This is the simple charm to treat the sweethtooth, vintage atmosphere given a refresh, lots of space and easy going menu. I have yet to see a more diabetes inducing thrill touting piles of candy, gorgeous icy shiny pastries, and sweet smiling staff happy to serve up all the right goods. Came just for coffee which despite little focus on the caffeine cherry beans was easy to drink but quite sugar biased and not any means a crafted brew. This feels right up the ole timer alley where grandkids are immediately at home and everyone quickly knows who is who by name. Can easily recommend this place for the casual conversation connoisseur. read more

Pease's at Bunn Gourmet is a hidden touristy spot on Springfield's west side. It sits in a cul-de-sac of an upper crust plaza of shopping and dining. Pease's at Bunn Gourmet offers soups, salads, sandwiches. coffees, teas and cake. A lunch bistró but secretly it's a really fancy candy shop. Ok it's no secret, you walk in to this beautiful candy shop before you see the dining room. It is quite the sight for any Sweet Tooth Sam or Sally. If you like fancy candies this is the place to go. If your decorating for a baby shower, bridal shower or wedding reception and you want vases of beautiful candies. Check this place out. They also have of room of traditional candies ...you know the kind us old folks grew up with. The diner is small, modern yet cozy and the food is good. Definitely a place for a first date, a Galentine lunch, a grab and go and an absolute wonderful spot for a daddy daughter day out. So for all the dads with daughters (of any age) ...if you're looking for a nice place to take your daughter to make her feel special this is a good place to go. I'd even go as far as saying it's a nice anniversary lunch spot and then you can take your wives shopping nearby. If you haven't been to Pease's at Bunn Gourmet. Make it a plan to get there. I personally consider Pease's under the "cafe" classification as they have more than just candy/chocolate. There is an actual menu where you can get a salad or other smaller "cafe" style foods. The ambiance was soooo comfortable; maybe because it was raining and it's dropping into the cool days of autumn but to sit at a little four person table in front of a fire place and have a scone and hot cider was simply divine. I was having one of my classic festive fall ravings for pumpkin and apple, which ironically enough Pease's had both ready on deck. I had a freshly baked and warmed pumpkin scone with a cup of warm apple cider. My fiancé, the more traditional chocolate richness American eater of us, went with a decadent slice of Oreo cheesecake and coffee. We both wandered the store as we waited to go see our afternoon movie; the candy shelves, popcorn, baking room and amazing sweets were every place your eyes looked! The only reason I am at 4* (closer to 4.5) was I felt the prices were a bit high, yes, I know you get what you pay for but beware this is not the cheapest of chocolatiers I have visited. ***Second Visit*** Stopped back in for 217 Comfort Food Week after visiting Pease's for the first time a few weeks ago. Once again, the open face chicken pot pie with puff pastry was outstanding! And, while I was at it, I indulged in a massive chocolate chip muffin to boot! I am changing my rating to a full 5* even with the higher prices because everything I have seen or tried here is simply amazing! Stopped at Pease's at Bunn Gourmet on a Sunday afternoon with some friends. It's a darling place! Who doesn't love candy and desserts? The colorful candy decorations are cute and we ordered two desserts, a couple of lattes, and got a package of chocolate covered oreos. One of my friends got the cookie dough cheesecake which looked amazing. I got the celebration cake. It was part cheesecake and part white birthday cake with sprinkles. Yes it was delicious! I took home a small package of chocolate covered oreos and enjoyed them in the days following. They were excellent. Really cute place and next time I'm in Springfield I will definitely be back! read more

A great place for brunch or lunch. Their cozy fireplace inside or patio outside are great. I especially love their quiche and steak salad.

My job includes responsibilities for arranging numerous meetings, both on and off-site. I've had a few smaller meetings at Bunn Gourmet, in addition to numerous other restaurants and coffee shops throughout Springfield. Bunn Gourmet is my favorite place to have these types of meetings when an out of office location is desired. It is casual but upscale, has a wide range of affordable options to fill the needs of everyone in the group, whether that is simply a cup of their delicious coffee, a slice of the best cake in town, or something more substantial, like lunch. Great food options aside, perhaps the most important aspect is that the acoustics are good in the seating areas. With a lot of casual restaurants and coffee shops, it is very hard to hear if there are more than a few other people in the place. But that doesn't seem to be the case at Bunn Gourmet. I was there last week for a meeting with approximately 7 other individuals. There was a pretty good crowd in the place. We were spread around three tables that had been pushed together to accommodate the group. Everyone in the group could hear and participate in the conversations taking place throughout the course of the meeting. Another important aspect when arranging a meeting location is the wifi, seating and table situations. My group was at Bunn for about an hour, which could be a long time for some to sit if the seating is hard or uncomfortable. However, the seating at Bunn is comfortable enough to allow one to sit for that period of time or longer without having to shift around or stand up. Additionally, the wifi works Every. Single. Time. without fail and it is fast. Simply said, Pease's at Bunn Gourmet checks off all of the boxes that I have when trying to come up with a location for a small meeting that needs to take place outside of my office. We are lucky to have it as an option here in Springfield. read more

I've bought cakes from here before and they have been awesome. This last Saturday I ordered 25 cupcakes and paid around 60$ for them. The cake was hard as a rock and the icing tasted like pure whipped Crisco with absolutely nothing else in it except some blue dye. Even the kids wouldn't eat it! read more

Just moved to Springfield. And I'm so glad that I found this gem. The decor is amazing!!!! Very over the top bling. Mixed with a cozy candy shop feel. The staff are very open and friendly. Let's start with desserts... OMG!! The chocolate candy is too die for. The cakes are amazing!!! We had the lemon cake and red velvet... delicious!! We even stoped by for coffee and lunch. We've been here a number of times to pick up some Pease's chocolates, and of course we did this time as well. However, this time we also decided to eat here too. My wife and I split the brisket sandwich and mac'n cheese. Both were good. All in all, it was an enjoyable setting outside in the courtyard for an evening meal. Would do it again for sure. read more

My sister and I went to Bunn Gourmet hoping to enjoy a decedent macaron- not only did it taste like mushy icing but the customer service was TERRIBLE!! We both got different "flavors" that tasted the exact same. The hairy man taking our order was demeaning and huffy, he carelessly served us the most cracked macarons in a PAPER CUP (clearly not meant for macarons) when it was time to check out, the chip reader wasn't working and he repeatedly blamed it on the way I inserted my card. He proceeded to snatch the card from my hands and did the exact same thing I was doing and guess what... it didn't work!! And later he said and i quote, "you need to get a new card BUD." eventually he entered my card number into the machine and guess what... my purchase went through, so it WASNT my fault but the machines! 0/10!!! read more

A great concept showcasing a variety of local Springfield businesses. The store sells Pease's Candy, local beer (Rolling Meadows), local coffee (Custom Cup), pastries (baked by Incredibly Delicious), meat (Bunn Family Farms), and I am sure I am missing some local products. While this sounds like it could be a mess, the space is well designed and tastefully decorated. A great place to get a cup of coffee, glass of wine, beer, or cheese plate. My wife and I visited after Christmas shopping, we enjoyed a cup of coffee by the fireplace. I would encourage Springfieldians to check it out and see all the best local brands on display. read more

Our group came here for brunch, and we ordered a couple of breakfast hashes, an omelet, and Asian vegetable bowl, grilled cheese sandwich, biscuit, toast, etc. All of the dishes had good flavor, and service was friendly and thoughtful. The coffee was excellent - plenty of flavor but not bitter. I took home a piece of chocolate mocha cake (?), which was the most scrumptious piece of cake in recent memory. Note that their online menu, a PDF download, is not up-to-date and shows many items that are not currently available. We'll be making a return visit! read more

We love coming here after having dinner with friends so we can get one of their great deserts. Out of the last 4 times we've come, 3 out of 4 times they've only had a few deserts left, a few cupcakes and a couple slices of cheesecake is usually what they seem to have left. We were told that since they're closed on Sundays they don't usually have many deserts to offer on Saturday evenings. So we went on a Friday night and ran into the same issue. We left and decided we'll just stay and order desert from the restaurants next time instead of coming back to Bunn. Makes me wonder how many others come for desert and leave disappointed! read more

Make sure and stop in on a Friday night when they offer their signature milkshakes. We shared the chocolate milkshake topped off with caramel popcorn. The milkshake was cook, smooth and creamy without being too sweet. While you're there, you might as well get the Raggedy Ann cheesecake, which is an indulgent dessert sure to please any cheesecake connoisseur. read more

They offer a wide variety of drinks- coffee, tea, even booze. My favorites are the coffee and tea drinks brewed on the Trifecta machine. Try the green tea or the Costa Rica coffee. Branded with the Peases name, you know chocolate has to be in play somehow. This is apparent when you walk through the door and are greeted with a tower of colorful candy jars, rows of chocolate, and big glass windows allowing you to see into the Peases factory where the magic happens. We've started making this place a regular stop on date night. The pastries are very good (made technically correctly with proper ingredients- you won't find hydrogenized/Crisco-based whipped cream or "twinkie" filling here). There are French and American pastries: cheesecake, tarts, cookies, muffins, mousse cakes, and American buttercream. It's a beautiful ambience... One of the best places in town to lounge. Even though it's upscale and relaxing, it's also kid-friendly. It's great that they serve wines and beers. The chocolate candies are just OK. The lattes are not memorable but they're definitely passable. I would definitely stop by here to pick up pastries to bring home.
