Every coffee I've tried (and I try a different one every time) is very good, and the desserts are great, but the quality and taste of lunch items have declined over the past several years. I've gone from telling everyone about this place to being reluctant to recommend. I have eaten here 4x in the past year, and every time I walk away disappointed. The chicken avocado sandwich used to be the bomb, but they have cut corners, and it's now just "ehhh". I tried two different paninis yesterday, and then both were pretty blah. I don't mind paying $13 for a sandwich if it's good, but the sandwiches here have lost their taste and pizzazz. It makes me sad because I used to really enjoy having lunch here. read more

I was in town for a wedding. My friend and I didn't know where to find any breakfast, much less a good breakfast. We checked out a few menus and I was sold on this place because of the avocado toast. That's what I had and it was pretty good. My friend had coffee over ice and enjoyed it enough to wait to come back the next day (alas, we didn't return). I also had a banana peanut butter smoothie. It feels like a typical college town coffee shop, but as this was a Saturday morning in the summer, it was not crawling with college students. The second room is larger and features a pretty blue sofa and some tables, at least one of which was pretty crafty. I'd go here again. read more

This place is a gem! Need some caffeine? The coffee is delicious and there are plenty of fun options. Want a salad? Somehow they have the only actual red and juicy tomatoes I've seen in winter. There aren't enough good things I can say about Soap Co. I lived in Jacksonville for four years and was always a huge fan. Now I make it a must to visit when I'm in town. Went today and the coffee was so delicious, service was great, and the food was amazing. I love all of the upgrades they've been doing and I feel like this has the perfect coffee house atmosphere. This is easily the best coffee shop in town. The environment is very cozy/laid back, leaving it to be a perfect place to come study or read while enjoying your lunch or beverage. I am a former barista, so with an education under my belt in coffee and espresso preparation, the quality of product is a little underwhelming. I have stepped in here and there (when I'm too lazy to make my own Lattes at home) every few months to see if the quality of beverages has improved, and it simply hasn't. A big part of this is their quality issues is the quality of bean used, but also equipment available to them. Realize this isn't a Starbucks, so don't expect to make any side by side comparison of products. One of my favorite highlights of this place are some of sandwiches and breakfast items they have available, but like their coffee products feel a bit overpriced at times. It has been listed as "the best coffee shop in IL" on a online blog that has really left me scratching my head as to how someone would/could make a claim as such. Regardless, I will continue to support this local business, and will update my review after a few more visits at the end of the fall in case there are updates to be made. read more

This coffee house is by far the best of its kind in the area. Inside, you are greeted with an eclectic and quaint atmosphere, from the wooden tables decorated with inspiring literature excerpts to the delicious menu and delightful staff. I personally love picking up a specialty cappuccino blend and one of their whole grain muffins (so delicious), but you'll find that Soap Co. Coffee House has a nice handful variety of items to choose from - and they always look enticing! As the name suggests, you can also buy hand crafted local soaps; however, the options don't end there. They also sell locally made spices, lip balms, jewelry, as well as some decorative pieces for your home. Again, I said this place is eclectic, and it is ever so charming. If I had to compare Soap Co. Coffee House to anything, I'd say it's as close to a big city "hipster" coffee joint as you're going to get in the Jacksonville area, and I mean that in the absolute best way. read more
