Near the corner of RM 2147 and Highway 71 you'll find this cemetery a few yards from the road. The cemetery is surrounded on all sides by the Texas countryside. The one drawback is that there is no parking lot so you'll have to find a place to park along Highway 71 which is a fairly busy road. This is one of the older Texas graveyards, which was founded in 1859. As the sign at the entrance states, this cemetery is "dedicated to the early settlers of this vicinity". Many of these older headstones could really benefit from a good cleaning. Sadly, like many cemeteries from this you see several infant graves, and people who died in their 20s. The cemetery does have a fenced in perimeter and has been reasonably cared for over time. The majority of the graves are no longer visited by family members, however, there are actually some newer interments from the late 20th century which show signs of visitation. There is one small Texas historical sign associated with a grave, but there is not a larger sign on the property.
