I played the course last weekend for the first time and i was satisfied with the course conditions for the price. It was cheaper than my regular Austin city courses so for me i can't complain. Only a couple of greens on the course could use some extra attention but again it was playable enough to make a par here and there. After reading a numerous amount of negative reviews from the past i wasn't sure what to expect. The staff was actually very nice to me and I had no negative experiences with the marshals. Also there is always 2 sides to someones story so i wouldn't let the reviews keep anyone from at least trying the course out. See for yourself and if you're new to golf then don't have high expectations for anything under 40$ a round. I thought the course was fun and ill be going back for sure. read more

Stay Away!! This place is terrible. They actually made me take my cooler back to my truck that was filled with WATER. And the greens were absolutely horrible. You could not make a 2 foot putt. no way I'm going back. You would think that they would entice people to come play here, instead they deter them. But hey you do you, losers. read more

Can't keep the greens in good shape. New greens are needed latest attempt to put 7 new ones in has failed. Have 2 others that are temps with little progress to get them back to useable greens. So 9 greens that are in terrible shape. The other 9 are in fair shape. Fairways have 50 50 grass and weeds. Golf carts are old and need work. Club house smells like mold and mildew from water leak problems. read more

You'd think for 40 bucks you could maybe hit the driving range but nope members only. And usually "temp" greens means temporary but they've had these for over a year so I think it's safe to say they'll be there for another one, what kind of golf course charges 40 bucks on a Tuesday to play on temp greens that is like putting on the damn fairway you might as well use a wedge and the normal greens couldn't get much better. The only good thing about the entire round was the hotdog from the club house they probably shove up your ass after they charge 40 bucks to play. read more

I use to love this course growing up, but it's a complete joke now. They have been "fixing the greens" for a year. That's a complete lie and it's sad. The course just keeps getting worse and worse. About six of the greens are in the middle of the fairway still, and these greens they are suppose to be fixing look horrible. Also all the other green are destroyed as well. It's probably the worst course within an hour drive of College Station. I know this is a harsh review, but gosh dang fix the damn course and stop charging people the same price as A&M when it's horrible. I hope this course gets good again but from the looks of it, that won't change. I will not be coming back for a LONG TIME!!! read more

Course is fun! Marshal is a complete asshole. Fat bastard! Told us we were holding everyone up when we let 3 groups play through. He was very hostile and started cursing us out after being extremely respectful. If you go make sure you play fast or they will get disrespectful. (FYI finished in 4 hr 45 min with a 4 some). read more

The marshal is a complete jackal and will cuss you out in your face if you are playing "too slow". Had a group of 4 and finished in less than 5 hours, don't get how that is slow but don't come here if you plan on playing normal golf. read more

For about $30 for a green fee this course is a little overpriced for the quality you get. Although there is not too many options in the area I still can't help but give this course two stars. For one, you are definitely going to play worse than normal here. The greens are very difficult to read and very, very hard (not necessarily in difficulty but hard as in you could probably rent out the greens as mini roller skate rinks). The people at the "pro shop" are very nice and the course is not necessarily ugly. It is very pretty at sunset. The course is wide open with few trees. They have put in lots of water hazards though. It appears to be one long interconnected channel that runs through or around almost all the holes on the course. An enjoyable course that was not particularly crowded you just have to keep your expectations low. read more

Played out here yesterday. This course was in really good shape. Looking at some of the past reviews of the greens, they are definitely not that way anymore. They are really slow, but I can see why.....they don't want to dry them out and have them die like before. Plus, as an amateur, slow greens stop your crappy chips and are much easier to putt. Customer service, fantastic, and the range balls quality (which to me is always a good gauge of the course) were almost new. Played a really nice course in Tucson last week and out of all the range balls provided, maybe half were good. Anyway, I'll be back! read more

I consider this course to be a bit pricey for non students (about $35), but I think it's a good deal for students (about $25). I'm perfectly willing to pay $35 for a decent course, but the greens have been rough. I'm hoping they improve dramatically when Spring gets here. Update: The greens did not improve. read more

I live in Millican so this course is very close to me and I love playing out there. The course is also steadily improving and the greens are normally in very good shape. I used to play out here 1-2 times a week but that has been cut down to about once a month. The reason for this is that they are no longer on the GolfNow or Supreme Golf apps and you cannot get the hot deals anymore. I used to play out there for $15-$20 but now it costs me $30-$35 each time. I usually drive a little bit further to Legendary Oaks in Hempstead now because I can get much cheaper tee times and the course is comparable to Pecan Lakes. If they would bring the hot deals back I would be out there constantly. I used to spend about $130 a month at Pecan Lakes but now the prices are higher so I spend $30 a month out there and play other courses more. If they would put the course back on the various tee time apps I think they would get more business. It's not a spectacular course but it is a very nice local course with friendly people and you won't be disappointed. read more

This place has really turned around since Ross arrived. I hadn't planned on ever playing there again but months after my review he apologized for the bad experience and said things have turned around. The course was in good shape the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was it is a bit pricey costing almost as much as the campus course. read more

Zero stars! Showed up early for a tee time, was told "sorry, no tee time available. There is a high school tournament today." Again, I had a tee time scheduled! I called Monday morning. Drove an hour for a scheduled tee time, left the course. Never again!!!!! read more

Played during twilight. $23. Wasn't expecting much after reading the previous reviews. I will say Pecan lakes course is well maintained. Grass is greener and scenery is great. Friendly staff. Played on July 18 which is typically very hot, yet the grass were still relatively green. Would advice to play on this course compared to the Bryan public golf course. I've played this course for a number of years. I rank it as one of the best values in the area. It's a scenic layout that is just challenging enough to be fun. Lots of water and areas of heavy trees offer variety. The greens have had a difficult time due to weather. However, even early in the Spring, they roll fairly fast and true. Great driving range with separate chipping area and practice greens. I really feel this place is a hidden gem in the Brazos Valley. read more

I'd like to know where people are playing who think $30 is pricey for greens fee. The course is beautiful and the personnel are friendly and helpful. The casual, pleasant atmosphere is a welcomed feeling compared to the "look how rich I am" attitude and atmosphere I've seen at other golf clubs. My buddy and I played the course on Tuesday July 26th. We are both single digit handicappers from the white tees.The course was in good shape. The people who were complaining about the terrible greens in June didn't bother mentioning that they had just been plugged and top dressed. Just the usual whiners. There are a few weed grasses on the greens and they have a fair amount of slope. It had rained the day before so they were fairly soft. If the wind blows and they get firm it will be real interesting. The secondary rough is very thick if you make a wild shot through the fairway, but in general the fairways are very generous. The bunkers were well maintained. All in all the course is worth a visit read more

I played a round yesterday and found the course to be a nice place to play. I would rank it as a fairly good muni course although they do have some kind of membership if people want to take advantage of it. The course is pretty flat and can be easy with wide fairways, but with high grass outside the secondary cut of the fairways it was easy for me to lose a few balls! The greens were in good shape though a bit slow (which was probably an advantage for me). The only problem I found with the greens were that other golfers were not fixing their divots. The greens didn't have much slope to them but there were a few that were on par with any expensive course. On a Friday, the green fees with a cart was $30. The cart is a gas cart which I didn't understand because of the lack of hills, but they are pretty new carts. I enjoyed the round and will be returning. There were several people on the course but I didn't feel rushed to finish a hole. Especially for a small town like Navasota, this is a pretty good course. The only really weakness I saw was the lack of restrooms on the course itself. You could use the clubhouse on the turn, but otherwise there were no bathrooms on the course. read more
