The Peck Park pool is not open! Don't waste your time looking for it. The pool is empty and deteriorating!

Nice facility when its functioning. Rude and arrogant employees. Starting from lady at the front desk and finishing with pool manager.

Review #845 2025-017…read more George Mannon Aquatic Center (aka Torrance Aquatic Center) opened on Saturday, 03/03/18 with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Enter on the driveway between Honda Service Center & Starbucks, the aquatic center is between Torrance Elementary School & Shery High School. Eric Trujillo, former North HS student & design committee member, designed the facility's logo; the "Shield Marquee" is displayed at the entrance. The $15M project was made possible by Bond Measure U funds (approved in 11/2014), so this state-of-the-art pool has been long awaited by the community; yeah, I voted for this, not knowing my LO will be using the aquatic center 7 years later. She made her high school's JV swim team in her freshman year for the 2024-2025 school year with swim season held between mid-02/2025 - mid-04/2025. It's awe-inspiring to watch her & teammates race in this beautiful facility! The aquatic center has a 60-meter Olympic size competition & warm-up pools (both partially heated by solar panels) with 10 competition & 12 warm-up lanes, 600-seat spectator bleachers, separate lockers for TUSD's 4 high schools (Torrance, North, South, & West HS), & visiting teams changing room. There are showers available, but I'm told they're not working. While designed to allow 2 sports to be played simultaneously, her school competition schedule has not calendared concurrent competitions. The District Aquatic Programs include both water polo & swim, but no diving, in this proper world-class competitive facility. Upon entering, the far left pool is for water polo & swim meets, with middle & right pools are for practices. I thought I saw lessons for the younger set, but I could be wrong? According to USA Swimming, Swim Torrance is a local swim club that uses GMAC for training. Her team's locker room is 1 of 2 schools that's next to the competition pool. Time pads are a bit wonky since it's been 6 years, so H relies on the volunteer timers to record her times/splits. I wished they thought of building a snack shack by the NE corner near the water fountains, instead of using tents & foldable tables to set-up the snack stand. It's extra time needed by the parent volunteers for set-up & tear-down. The parking lot ginormous & is used by the aquatic center & also the adjacent baseball field. No diamond (prime) spaces by the entrance, but the circular driveway makes it easy for drop-offs & pick-ups unless the driver just parks their car, blocking others. \(`0´)/ The spectator bleachers have shade structures, but coverage is limited in the later afternoon/when the sun is setting unless you're sitting in the top/back row. We have to give props to The Plunge for their youth swim lessons to get her where she is today.

My company has had a few events here and it always goes smoothly. This is a very nice pool with a…read morespacious deck area and moderate seating. There is overhead coverage for the seating, but if it's the wrong time of day, you'll definitely be getting blasted by the sun straight in your face. We were able to get roof access to stream our event which was nice and have plenty of room for large tents, team seating and more. They also have nice meeting rooms where we tend to serve food to our athletes or hold team meetings.

After years of…read morepatiently waiting for this location to get the much-needed care it deserved, it's finally here! Both the first and second floors have upgrades, including improved flooring and new, additional machines that actually work. There are more weight machines available, which really helps elevate your training or even learn the equipment (I'm still learning myself). The only downside is that the bathrooms still need updating--they aren't the best and could use some fixing. If they took care of that and extended the hours, especially on weekends, I'd be most ecstatic...one can hope.

There are many things to complain about with this gym…read more Today was my first visit in several years, and to be fair, they are finally upgrading a lot of the equipment that was in complete disrepair before the recent remodel. Unfortunately, the bathrooms are still disgusting--absolutely deplorable. It wouldn't take much to improve them: a few screws, working ventilation fans, and regular cleaning would make a tremendous difference. But the biggest issue is the remodel itself. The entire gym is arranged backwards. Look at the photo--the equipment faces away from the mirrors and toward the windows. The un-tinted windows. Who wants to work out like that? Do the decision-makers here actually work out? I have my doubts. Anyone who has spent time in a gym knows people generally want to face a mirror while training. Even reflective window tint would be a huge improvement. The whole place feels lazy, thoughtless, and driven by greed rather than the member experience. Which is unfortunate because it's always busy. They clearly have enough members to justify investing in meaningful improvements, but the decisions being made suggest poor planning and a lack of understanding of what gym-goers actually want. I won't be back. This place completely kills my gym vibe. In fact, I'm standing here writing this review instead of lifting because it's that frustrating. And it's shoulder day--my favorite day. Could post my real review because the wording limitation is set to like 5 words! So bad!! So, so, so bad.
