Excellent, efficient, friendly care. I was taken to the ER on the recommendation of the paramedic manning the ambulance, who said that this is his ER of choice. I had a hip dislocation (had the hip replaced 2 years ago). They put me under and popped it back in -- not necessarily an easy feat as when this happened to me last year, in a different out-of-state ER, they couldn't pop it in and it required full surgery under general anesthesia. Had a heart stent put in they couldn't stop the bleeding. when I finally got back in room my sugar was over300. It took them 3 hours to give me insulin shot. Their excuse was they only had 1 nurse on floor and she was doing her rounds. I would never go back there. read more

Review of Dr. McKenna and Peconic Bay Medical Center I recently had surgery this past Friday performed by Dr. McKenna at Peconic Bay Medical Center, and I have to say, he is hands down the best OB-GYN I have ever had the privilege of working with. From the very beginning, Dr. McKenna made me feel comfortable, heard, and respected. What really stood out to me was how he communicates with you--not at you. He is incredibly knowledgeable and upfront, but never makes you feel rushed. Even when I had to be readmitted to the hospital the day after surgery, Dr. McKenna was right there for me. After eating something I wasn't supposed to, I got in touch with Dr. McKenna directly through a personal number he gave me. To my relief, he immediately answered my call, took the time to talk me through everything, and even coordinated with his team to make sure I got the care I needed. I was truly touched by how quickly and efficiently he responded to my situation. Even though Dr. McKenna was at his office in Wading River, he ensured that I was taken care of in the hospital by his incredible team. They were just as amazing as he is--kind, knowledgeable, and welcoming. I really felt like I was in the best hands. I'm also very impressed with the overall experience at Peconic Bay Medical Center. The cleanliness of the facility, professionalism, and efficiency in performing the necessary tests to identify the issue were top-notch. I was thoroughly pleased with every step of the process. Another nice touch was the valet parking, which made things much easier, especially when I wasn't feeling my best. This turned out to be a very pleasant surprise... I say this because I got unfortunately use to my treatment at Brookhaven Medical Center and Hospital. Whereas my very 1st knee Surgery was done..!. I knew immediately it was badly infected! It was that obvious, To Me..!. After 7 visits back at the originals surgeons office he referred me off to Dr. Cimenello. This Dr. took care of me like you wouldn't beleive! The respect and care that was given was well received - BIG TIME! What a wonderful man, this Dr. was and what-else- need-be-said? I came in with my father (he's 68). He came in for a blood clot. After half an hour they finally admitted him to a restricted area and I went out to grab food and they told me in which restricted area he was in. I was told I was able to go in once I came back by the security guard. He had asked them to help me open the door so I could see my father. This extremely rude nurse with dirty blonde hair just ignored this and kept giving dirty looks until the security guard himself felt bad and unlocked the door for me with a code. Also, they did sonograms on my father for his blood clot and when I asked how long the results would take all I got was a "uhh... idk" kind of response. Was my first choice for many reasons, cleanliness, competence of staff, location and availability in my general. The nurses in ER are quick, non compassionate, they just deal with the emergencies. Hospital billing and admitting staff are quick to get your information and money. Once admitted, depending on the floor and reason and age and medical status and care needs it's scary. Sadly the medical systems are failing to help the patients, instead it's all about $$$ read more

My best friend died last week due to the "care" he received here. It took 10 hours to be admitted in the ER, 8 hours to receive imaging and a misdiagnosis of colitis, then his heart stopped and was revived to be re-diagnosised for sepsis, two hour surgery but by then it was too late. All the nurses in the ICU were nice and compassionate but that does not equal professional medical life saving diagnosis and treatment. Avoid if your life depends on it. read more

I just spent 15 hours in the emergency room in the hall and received the worst care I've ever had. They finally told me at 7am that they had a room for me. What they considered a room was a room with about 20 beds with a curtains around your bed. The care has gone downhill within a year. read more

Test results are inconclusive. Emergency room is crazy and does not go to any professional length to determine the real problem - always "Nothing is broken" - just two or three ribs, 2 vertibrae - I find out after I go back to work in pain. I have reviewed Peconic once before ,back in Sept 2023. I said then hat I would NOT take a loved one there. My partner needed medical care and wanted to go there because "they have all my records and doctors", so we went. Care was ok until we got Nurse Mona. She is in the wrong field. No compassion shown. She couldn't draw blood or start the 2nd IV line. She BLAMED the patient! He wasn't "relaxed" so she had to try multiple times, each try she made a point of blaming HIM! It never got better. She was awful, he was api cushion and she just had nothing hint kind to say to him. I wouldn't take a loved one there if I was given a choice. My husband had severe spasms in stomach which is a side effect from leukemia medicine. Usually lasts 5 mins but after 20hrs we went to emergency room. Dr Saul Gonzalez Perez was the attending physician in emergency room. What a Gem!! Beside his great bedside manner he explained why we would have to be there for a least 3 hours. Had some problems with a surgical wound that was bleed post-op. I called my surgeon in the middle of the night and was told he was on call at the hospital and that I should come meet him. After I arrived the nurse "triaged" me - basically took my blood pressure and temperature. I asked if my doctor was available and was told 1) no he's not here and 2) no doctor is available until at least 6am. 3) sit in this hard chair with your wound bleeding and wait indefinitely through the night. I decided to leave and manage the wound myself. PBMC then sent a bill for $1300!!! Can you imagine having your blood pressure taken for $1300? I called their finance department to complain but they said it's their policy and my problem. STAY AWAY FROM THIS EMERGENCY ROOM it's a clip joint for sick people. first off this is the worse hospital there is , they refuse to serve me solids after i told them liquids where staying down. i have not eating all night and a doctor has not come by to see me and the nurse said this morning ill let the doctor know that im keeping down liquids and here come lunch time and they keep giving me solids. From start to finish, we were treated excellently. The security were respectful, as all the people that helped us. The nurse who helped my wife was RN Brianna and the the doctor was Dr. Goldman. There were many others in the ER, but the care was excellent. You couldn't ask for more. She left the ER feeling better then when she arrived. All I can say is thank you. Horrible experience. Walked in to the emergency room and no one was there at the desk for 10 mins or so. Finally got checked in and sat in the waiting area for 2 hours before triage took me. Then after triage I sat for another 2 hours with multiple people coming in to visit family or friends in the ER and they were very frustrated and annoyed also. I had a bicycle accident and was taken by ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center. It was closest proximity to my home so it made sense from that perspective. Walked in and was seen immediately, and almost everyone I interacted with was exactly the kind of person you would want helping you out while experiencing a traumatic issue. All of the nurses (but 1, no names) were friendly, funny, patient and kind. The doctors and physicians assistants were calm, thorough, good bedside manner, and easy to talk with. The orderlies were friendly and smiling. I had no idea of the reputation this place has. Based on my experience, thankfully it wasn't too serious of a medical event (broken clavicle, scapula and rob), I would recommend this facility to anyone. read more

I'm never going back to this hospital again. Only one doctor knew about my condition (thank God he was kind and smart). Daily in the morning, a nasty doctor professor walked in with 8 students, they all stared at me (even after I said, "Hi"), where the doctor had a big frown and angry eyes. They left in a minute or so. Only a few nurses were kind; most were not friendly. The only nice people were the waitresses! When I pressed the call button, I had to wait 20 to 30 minutes before a nurse came EACH TIME to be allowed to get off my bed and walk to the bathroom, have more water, so on. One time, after 45 minutes of waiting, I had to go potty so bad that I stood off my bed, stayed next to it, knowing that getting off the bed would set off their alarm. A nurse ran in (luckily one of the few nice ones), asked me why I got off my bed, and I told her my problem. She walked with me to the bathroom, and found out that the nurse call cord was loose, so it had to be pushed back in. The worst part was that the head nurse was so NASTY, said unkind words in a mean voice, frowning and looked annoyed to be working, like she hated her job. One time when she came in to give me more water, she complained that I requested water too often. "More water already?!" in a nasty way. My medications make me have a dry mouth and dehydrated, so I drink 128 ounces of water daily. The cup of water was small, so of course, lady-more water please! I have been in many hospitals in my life since age seven, and I've enjoyed all of them except Peconic Bay Medical Center. My mother also had a bad experience during an emergency surgery removal of an organ there. Very poor quality service there. read more

From the check in to wheelchair out, each medical professional was kind and knowledgeable. My two doctors were excellent in pre op and post op, giving all details needed and always checking in with me. The nurses, they are phenomenal. They listened to everything I needed and were quick to help each time in my 5 day stay. Food service recently upgraded and provided plenty of supplies for me. Whatever improvements Northwell just pumped money into here, it's working. read more

11/2/17 I would not give this place even 1 star!! They are horrible!! I took my son to the emergency room with a 103 fever!! They left him sitting there for over 3 hours when I asked how much longer till he would be seen they could not tell me. I left took him to Stony Brook Hospital and was ushered right in because he was a minor pediatrics took him immediately!! Well, Peconic Bay has sent me a bill for $1,708.25 they said I have to pay it because a nurse seen him when he first arrived!! You people are insane!!!! read more

Elderly family member canceled knee surgery with Dr. Sultan due to mistakes of this hospital and the disgusting rudeness of an NP. Apparently, this is not a first for this woman, I've since heard multiple stories about her attitude toward seniors. The hospital wrongly charged her 850.00 for pre-op care that she never had and was covered by her insurance. It took 8 weeks to get that money back and only after a threat of a call to the NYSDOH. This hospital is a prime example of healthcare that has turned to crap. Too bad Sultan only works out of here. read more

I had an allergic reaction in the middle of the night and went to the emergency room around 1am in the morning. Everyone was so helpful and considerate. I could not believe how busy the staff was, there was so much going on and everyone was working together to try to see and comfort all the patients. I was processed quickly and the doctor I saw was polite and thorough. I had some blood work done and my issue was solved. I was very impressed by the staff and quickly I was in and out. The worst experience I have ever had. My boyfriend was bit by something that clearly gave him a serious bacterial infection. We went in around 1:30am after work to get it drain and some antibiotics. We waited 3 1/2 hours for a bed in the hallway then another 4 hours for the doctor that never came. After 7 1/2 hours we walked out and went to city MD and was in and out in less than 2 hours. Great Hospital for the most part. I was admitted Christmas Eve 2021 and finally released April 13, 2022. Admitted with Covid which then went into Pneumonia -- Cleared the Pneumonia and Relapsed to Pneumonia a second time. Spent at least a month in ICU -- placed in regular room for a matter of a couple of days then back to the ICU with blood pressure crash. All the time these folks were right on top of my situation. I have no doubt that I was in good hands and had I been anywhere else, I might not be writing about my adventure. After months of being in bed I was sent to rehab to teach me how to walk and get around again. After 1 month the Nurses and Occupational Therapists got me on my feet and getting around like a normal human being. I just can't say enough in the way of Compliment for the entire Facility and their Staff -- If I had just one complaint about the entire 3 1/2 month stay -- I wish they'd have served their steak meals Medium Rare -- No Joke -- I mean nobody likes over cooked Sirloin ! read more

I suffer from sever anxiety. i had an issue and they saw me hyperventilating and having a panic attack which i don't handle well when i have them. there was absolutely nobody in the ER for them to take 4 hours to see me when clearly i'm freaking out. they had a very Unexperienced person in triage think that the words breathe breathe breathe are going to make me feel better? especially with this virus going on when they used to harass you to get vaccinated and not let in places without a mask while i'm freaking out in the er waiting room while they are laughing together in triage watching me from the corner of their eye. this nurse literally walked out of the room because every question i asked she had 0 answers for. i would never EVER take your loved on there if they feel they are at risk for anything. i never had yelp until today because people seriously should hesitate coming here. read more

This is the worst hospital ever. My 88 year old mother was admitted to er as she had a uti and was severely dehydrated. She went in around 2 pm & was discharged @ 11 pm. I requested that she stay overnite but they said there was no reason for her to. Even though she was experiencing vomiting (bile) and stomach trouble. As I said it was 11 pm and she was exhausted and could hardly walk. Her pants were soaked with urine as they did not put any pull-ups or pads on her. Despicable treatment to an elderly woman.
