Had a great time taking a tandem kayak out to Wells Island and back. A nice, easy paddle-- very relaxing. We were told it was a really calm day and we were the first kayakers of the season! Todd was very friendly and helpful. He suggested that we hit the Bonneville Locks on the way back to Portland and we got to see the chinook fish ladder, which was very cool! read more

What a wonderful day! Pedal and Paddle were ready for us, gave clear instructions, and had great equipment. We did the self-guided tour but after getting their suggested rides, plotted our own version on Google maps. Clara suggested we get ourselves to Mosier and plan the rest of our trip over a coffee, which we did. Next time I'll just rent the bikes. I was also grateful P&P quickly processed a refund for one of the bikes we reserved when one of our party was injured. The e-biking doesn't always fit our budget but now I know it is worth the splurge. I'll do it again next time, and I would do it with P&P. read more

Todd (owner) and his assistant (Conner) were amazing ! We had a summer trip and they were conveniently located near the pier and away from the busy city of Hood River. Many other rentals were booked online but if you call directly, it's a better experience. The bikes were name brand and well maintained . Course maps are available on your smart phone (google). Be sure to take screen shots or get familiar before you head out. Cellular can be challenging during your ride. If you go to Hood River, check them out!!!! read more

Omg. Omg. Omg. I'm from the city (LA) and quite frankly, I've never seen such beauty. I went on the sunset kayaking tour with my husband and we were left breathless. I am so glad we bought this tour. The sunset over the river on a hot summer night was something to behold. We also got to paddle up wind river and see fish in clear water! We saw blackberries and people swinging from a rope to splash into the river. Our awesome guide Todd asked if our group wanted to, but we skewed older and I'm a wuss. Haha. It was fun to watch the younger kids do it though. Todd also pointed a BLAD EAGLE!! I've never seen one before so that was a real treat. Definitely will book another tour with this company. Worth every penny! My daughter had never been and it's been a few years since I've been out on a kayak. We scored and were on a smaller morning tour with Josh as our guide. He was extremely patient with my daughter, helped her gain the confidence and made it truly an enjoyable trip. My mom and I went to Hood River for a 3 day get away. We had never kayaked or paddleboarded before. First we took the Sunset Kayak Tour. Todd was our kayak tour guide. Not only was he helpful and friendly, but he went way out of his way to fix our booking mistake. See, we booked for the following Tuesday, meaning we were there a week early! Since Todd already had brought the kayaks needed for that night, my mom and I were going to leave and chalk it all up to us being careless when booking. However, he was more accommodating than he needed to be. He called someone who brought over 2 more kayaks in under 15 minutes!! We were blown away by the outstanding kindness and customer service. The very next day we rented paddleboards from them. I was very excited, but obviously inexperienced. Todd and Josh were more than helpful, and answered all our many, many question. Everyone working at Gorge Paddling Center that day was friendly and easy-going, yet professional, too. We could take our time, no limit was set. You pay when you get back. A lifejacket was supplied. No shoes required. It really was the perfect day... learning to paddleboard, relaxing in the Columbia and enjoying the view. 10/10 experience!! We came to Hood River City for our 12th anniversary. We hiked, ate, drank and had a great time. But the sunset kayak tour was the highlight of our experience. Our guide wasn't overbearing and let us explore. We all kayaked up to the bushes of wild blackberries and enjoyed a snack. One couple in our group even tried the rope swing jump! We felt very safe the whole time and the views were up there with some of the ones I've seen in other destination places around the world like Ha Long Bay. I had an amazing time on the sunset tour last weekend. Everyone is very kind and relaxed, and it never felt like we were rushing. The sunset was beautiful, the mountains were too (and we kayaked a bit in the Columbia where the view of the mountains is just absolutely majestic). I was feeling a bit tired going into it and nursing a headache but you can set your own pace. I was having a hard time concentrating on any sort of small talk due to my tiredness and the sheer relaxation that came with being in the kayak, but Greg was kind and wasn't overbearing. The experience was truly wonderful and even now I keep thinking about the way the water felt, and the sounds, and the beautiful mountains and surrounding scenery... I'm already thinking about the next time I can come back to Washington... Fingers crossed it's sometime soon! I'm a two days drive away but it's definitely worth it. And, I've got some regrets I need to resolve: next time you can be sure I'm taking a swim in the river and swinging off the rope swing. Thank you Greg and the Gorge Paddling Center! We did the sunset tour and it was beyond amazing! We had 2 tour guides and Todd was super accommodating with our spontaneous booking. We were able to get a group rate of $50 each for 4+ people or more (usually $65 each). We started at this small dock and paddled up a small but calm river. We weren't too experienced with kayaking and our guides were very helpful with giving us tips. We were able to see ducklings and even saw 2 deer! They took us back towards the Colombia River and we were able to hang out for about 30-40 minutes watching the sun set. I have traveled through the Colombia Gorge in a car many times but nothing compared to the breathtaking view on the water. Todd even provided our whole group with a complimentary cup of wine as the sun went down. It's a must-do in the Gorge! read more

AMAZING! This is a one-of-a kind tour from one of the most customer friendly companies I have ever experienced. The location was easy to find and the equipment was top-notch and in great shape. And what an experience! We took the Sunset tour and it DID NOT disappoint! Beautiful, clean, safe, and not overly strenuous. Perfect even if you have no experience kayaking. The best part: our guide, Josh. Josh met us in the parking lot with a handshake and a smile. He allowed us time to get squared-away and prepared before heading out. Over the course of the next few hours, he was professional, extremely knowledgeable, and patient with paddlers of all experience levels. Most of all, however, Josh was friendly and a joy to spend time with. It felt like an afternoon with an old friend, who was full of information about kayaking, wildlife, and the area. Josh took every opportunity to make the tour personal, fun, and stress-free. Never once did he make us feel hurried or that it was anything less than a great time for him as well. I cannot say enough how Josh made this already amazing experience an unforgettable one. On the other hand, there was a tour being run by a different company on the river at the same time as us. It was extremely obvious that they were not having the amazing time that we were. Their guide rushed them up and down the river, which made the group look like they were working hard, rather than enjoying the beautiful river and experience. We didn't hear any of the friendly conversation, interesting facts, or any fun whatsoever coming from the tour and their guide. Per their website, Gorge Paddling Center is the originator of this tour. The other tour was clearly a lousy copy, providing tours in the same location, but missing the passion and humanity of the original. DON'T SETTLE FOR THE IMITATORS! Our family had such an amazing time with Todd! We went out on the wind river without boys (8, 9 and 14) and it was absolutely magical. We saw bald eagles, golden eagles and osprey as well as some salmon. He was great with the kids, stopping for a break to skip rocks and explaining the history of the area to us while we paddled. He was quick to respond when one of our members tipped their boat over and handled it like an absolute professional. We had a ton of laughs, learned so much and built some really great memories. This was a really fun and cool activity my family could do while we were staying in Hood River. We're from the LA area in California, so we've been paddle boarding and kayaking all over and these guys do a great job. Everyone's really friendly and the workers here will do their best to help you out with anything. It's $20 for the first hour and $10 for any extra hours for kayak/paddle board rental, and that isn't bad at all. It was cool cuz we got to go around their section of the river which is pretty flat and when we were ready we were able to head out and go up and down the river a bit. Would definitely recommend these guys if you're looking to see the river close up and get some cool pictures read more

Do not pass on this opportunity to appreciate both the Wind River and Columbia River. Better than just the Wind and Columbia is enjoying these rivers by kayak. This venture allows one to not only see the lower end of the Wind River, but also float in to the confluence of these two diverse drainages. While on these waters we saw no less than 10 types of birds, enjoyed blackberries, and watched a bat feed. The icing on the cake was a glass of white wine while watching the sun follow the mighty Columbia River West to the horizon. The tour guides have knowledge of the region and shared this wisdom. An isolated cove where you can easily practice, friendly and encouraging other instructors. We tried SUP and kayaking on a dreary, smoke filled day. Although not ready for white water, Jenny was incredibly patient and repeatedly demonstrated ways to stand, maneuver, and so on. She was a true professional. What a delightful outing! The staff was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. The scenery was beautiful. Whether you are an experienced kayaker or a never-been-in-a-boat-before person, this is a lovely piece of Wind River to explore. A family was part of our group and they had the double kayaks so that they could paddling with their kids. The guides were helping people to sample the sun warmed blackberries along the shore and we spotted a variety of wild life, including a bald eagle.
