I normally visit their South Pasadena location but wanted a change of scenery for the day. I love the two separate spaces they have for strength training and for spin. I joined Pedal in Montrose back in 2014 and stayed through their move to La Canada until a job location change in 2019 when I moved to the South Bay. Well both Pedal and I are back in Montrose and they have really upped their game with the new studio on Honolulu Ave. Same staff and a great new fully updated location, new bikes, new fitness equipment, a variety of class offerings and something I have not had at any other Spin Studio "Cold Towels" at the end of the ride! Pricing is much lower than most studios as well. I chose the 3 month auto pay and I'm saving $65 a month over my previous studio that was 7 miles away! I'm 10 years older than when I stopped road cycling and first joined Pedal at 52yo and I need all the motivation I can get to workout so being walking distance and saving $65 will allow me to keep my calves and quads beefy for another decade! read more

I don't often write reviews online, but Pedal absolutely deserves the recognition for how much they've become a part of my life over the past year. I'm a graduate student who moved to the east side of LA recently, and I don't hesitate to say that becoming a member at Pedal is the single best thing I've done for myself in a LONG time. I started at Pedal in August 2024 with a Brat Summer-themed class with Nancy. I had taken spin classes before throughout college at various studios and franchises, so I knew off the bat that Pedal was delivering on both quality of classes and environment. I signed up for an unlimited membership the next day. But here's where Pedal really sets itself apart: THE PEOPLE! I have taken classes with almost every single instructor, and I'm constantly in awe of how unique everybody's classes are, and how every coach brings something new and different to the table. From Nancy's lighthearted morning spin classes to Marcos's hilarious strength classes to Brooke's fast-paced Tuesday evenings to Dion's empowering Spicy Saturdays (and so many more!!!), Pedal truly has so many flavors of coaches and classes and I can't get enough of all of them. The crew also never fails to make me smile! They're always so helpful, and put in so much work behind the scenes to clean the bikes between classes, launder all of the sweat towels and lavender cold towels, and coordinate everybody's booking and check-in processes. Endless thanks to the whole staff :) But even in addition to the coaches & crew, I have found so much joy in making friends with the people who ride and lift alongside me every day. The clientele who keep coming back to Pedal day after day is such a bright and friendly group of individuals. I've gotten to know so many of them and I genuinely look forward to seeing them in class! Everybody at Pedal is always friendly, supportive, and so importantly (!) they are never ever judgmental. I have taken classes on good days, on bad days, on days when I need to modify, and regardless of where I am in life, Pedal is a place I look forward to coming every single day. They have made fitness approachable and fun in a way that doesn't feel grueling or like work. I've hit over 300 classes now and they keep flying by! All that being said, Pedal truly feels like a second home to me. I couldn't imagine my life without it now, and I am so grateful for everything Pedal has given me, both physically and mentally. Woohoo! The OG pedal is back! While I was not part of the OG Pedal family, I'm so happy to now be a part of their growing Pedal family! The owners opened up this location this past month and I finally was able to squeeze in a day here! It's has all the fun sparkles you feel at the south pasadena location and more! They offer both spin and strength classes. They have classes all week long. I know they are going to expand with more classes as they build up their clientele. Pedal created an amazing "turf" for the strength classes and their spin class has all the vibes of those larger franchised boutiques. But I hope you will give this place a chance- they are a small family owned business who truly care about their clients! Some of their instructors are also private trainers, so you know they care about your form, making sure you are making every minute worth it! They have unlimited monthly packages or you can drop in or buy smaller packages too. There are huge parking lot in the back. It's in the little heart of Montrose and you can grab an Acai bowl or smoothie after class! Come check them out! You'll feel amazing after no matter what class you try! read more

I love pedal so much! I love that they are back in Montrose! All of the instructors are so encouraging, upbeat, and really know how to make every class fun. The owner is the best and you can tell they care a lot about building a welcoming and inclusive community. I was so spoiled with pedal being my first spin studio I frequented, I have tried many since and now have such high expectations. Staff were always so kind and encouraging. It may have been a one-off but when I walked in to inquire one of the employees (dark hair with glasses) was very stand off-ish about answering some basic questions. There was definitely a reluctance. I don't think I was impolite but was hyper-cautious about my interaction regardless. Her tone and non-verbals definitely said "please get out of here." Between that and only seeing women I was wondering if it was a female-only gym which I don't mind and think is great in some ways. Another employee was friendly and informative. Doesn't seem like the kind of gym a rowdy guy can go and drop the hammer for an hour. Seems decent for a friendly group fitness type of gym-goer; assuming you have two X chromosomes. Really, the instructors are the heart and soul of this spin studio. Their energy, passion, and expertise are truly inspiring, and every one of them is rooting for you. The studio embraces the philosophy that every body is different and each person will ride differently, honoring where your body is at, listening to what your body needs, and finding growth at the edge of your own capability. It is difficult to strike the balance between promoting the philosophy of honoring individual ability at any level and riding inclusively as a team but Pedal has done it perfectly. In addition to being the hardest working bomb bosslady, everyone's hype woman, culture cultivator, and the kindest friendly authentic and welcoming person ever, Brooke's classes are the perfect place to always find a challenge. The BPMs on her sprints are no joke- and she can do them! She makes a point to remember everyone's name and foster inclusivity in each of her classes. Nancy is perfect for first timers, as she firmly lays out clear class structure, is consistent and clear with her instructions and creates an atmosphere that supports and accepts joy in riding at any level. Hope is down to earth, self-assured, and a beast on the bike, performing every class exactly as cued- a fantastic lead. Syd is a beat master, crafting challenging classes and braiding together playlists on the fly like a pro DJ. Dorian never lets your forget your form with your core and never disappoints with his playlists. Amanda puts so much heart into her classes, and they completely pop off. I always go back to Maren's class for her delightfully fun and delightfully elaborate choreo that she somehow makes feel easy just because she understands the learning structure of how your brain adapts to something new. I can claim only a handful of classes across the rest of the instructors, but I can say that they all support each other and attend the classes of the other instructors- if I have not taken a class with them I have ridden alongside them! Throughout the year the studio puts on different elective challenges. The studio also offers support beyond the bike, with physical training, mobility workshops, youth camps, and social events that foster a sense of community and family. Pedal Spin Studios has provided consistent workouts and a positive environment, which has been clutch to feeling committed and motivated. I feel independent in setting my own goals and supported through them. The studio offers a perfect blend of top-notch facilities, exceptional instructors, a variety of classes, and a supportive community.
