I visited a few weeks back on a whim, looking for a Christmas gift for my brother who is a skater. The store was completely empty except for the guy working (I guess the owner?), which probably should have been my first clue. I like to keep to myself when I shop. It makes me uncomfortable to be hounded by a salesperson. I looked around for a few minutes, but the guy working kept grabbing things off the shelves and I wasn't feeling it. I don't skate, so I can't speak for any of the prices of the boards, but I felt the clothing was overpriced and I'm not really sure what justifies such high prices. I ended up getting my brother some clothes from Tilly's. Same brands for much lower prices and less intense salespeople! Lol read more

Great store that I would have not thought in Montrose. Amazing merchandises. Ludwig (I saw his name on the receipt) was friendly and very very efficient He helps me in no time getting what I was looking for. I was in and out of the store within 5 mins with an amazing Volcom jacket. I was also happy to see small retail business like this still exists. It is a very cool boutiques with great clothing and accessories ( I saw some boards too). I highly recommend anybody to stop by. You will find for sure something you like. read more

Several years ago, I was interested in visiting this store. I was taking lots of photos during my journey through the Montrose shopping district. So, of course, I included the outside of this shop's windows and signs, like all the other places I went that day, and after I snapped this one of the interior from OUTSIDE of the shop, the owner comes out and tells me no pictures are allowed of his store, and that I need to stop, and that I am not welcome in his store. WTF???? Who doesn't want a little bit of good publicity? If I'd had a great visit he could have had some free publicity.... What was so secretive about the store inside that a photo would be a problem? Needless to say I never went back, with or without a camera. You never know who someone is, if someone is interested in shopping in your store, you should give them the benefit of the doubt, I could have bought a lot of stuff, or given him some huge well placed article in a well known magazine, you never know..... and he never will. read more

A hip, little skate surf shop in the Foothills that was known for their appealing logo that could be found on the sweatshirts of many of the neighboring city's young youth. Literally never open. Their signs say they're open on mondays, so I came on a Monday. Nothing on yelp or google indicating they're closed. A business needs to make it known when they're open and closed. It's the only surf shop that I can find in a several mile radius, so this took quite a bit of time and gasoline. 2 stars is a bit generous, since the inside looks nice, and I'm sure they're a decent shop when they stick to their hours. read more

The shop is small and carrys top brands, but you will find the coolest stuff in this shop...not like the typical big box shop; he buys the cool stuff that you can't and won't find in the typical surf chain store. I'm so glad that my wife saw this place as we were strolling around! I had been short on a lot of things because I just have a hard time finding stuff fitted to me. The store carries a lot of quality surf brand clothing that (apparently) fits me better than most other things (slim/tall build with relatively broad shoulders). What it really came down to, though, was the owner, who really knew the fit of everything in his store. He helped me through a ton of clothing without having to peruse the shelves and I ended up with a lot of new items for my closet. I Came in about a week ago for some bindings. They had great prices on Burton snowboards so I bought one. Customer service was very helpful and friendly we chopped it up for awhile talking about IKON passes and which mountains they go to in the winter. Amazing customer service! I went here to get new skateboard trucks as they were the only store open before 12 that sold trucks. I gave the employee my board to help specify the truck size that I needed. Unfortunate he told me that he didn't have any trucks in that size. After inspecting my board he told me he might be able to fix the problem I couldn't resolve. With a little tweaking and some force he managed to fix the issue! This ended up saving me from going some place else and spending more money to buy new trucks!! Super awesome dude, really wish I got his name. Gave him a tip for such great help and was on my way! read more

I love this locally owned place. Ludwig the owner is super easy going, he has a great variety of the latest fashions in guys and girls (lady's too) bathing suits, bikinis, flip flops, hats, (surfboards and skateboards too). I always find something that I can't leave without for myself, my daughters or the guys in my family. My husband loves his t-shirts and button up short sleeve dress shirts. His prices are so reasonable, you just have to go in this cozy place. There is no place closer to buy surf ware unless you go to Huntington Beach, and if we go to HB-- we're not shopping -- we're hittin' the sand or in the water ! . read more

Ocean View Board Sports is the best. Ludwig, who's the owner and an amazing surf board shaper is incredible. My boyfriend fatefully stumbled upon a used Ludwig board a while back. We were both blown away by how phenomenal the board was to surf so with a little research, we tracked down Ludwig and his shop. When the time came for us to buy another board, Ludwig helped me to pick out a board that's perfect for me. I love how it surfs (not to mention it had such a cool paint job on it) and it's allowed me to surf much better than before. His boards are incredible and he's a great guy. You can have him make you a custom board too if you want! I live pretty far away from his shop but I will definitely make the trek back up there next time I need a surf board. Once you surf on a Ludwig, you'll never want to surf on anything else. (For real!) I highly recommend Ocean View Board Sports! read more
