Note: My review off Pediatric Associates was from a real life outside business hours (for most Doctors Offices) visit. My 6 year old son came down with fever, we decided at about 6 on this fine Monday evening that we needed to see a doctor. I started planning my night at ER or Urgent Care. My wife called our local Pediatric Associates offices and was told to call the Office in Weston since its open late. Well we called the office and got an appointment to see the Doctor in 30 minutes. We arrive at the facility at about our appointment time. The place was alive as if it was 9:30am. I figured this could be good or bad. Good meaning they are up to the 9:30am speed and quality of physicians or bad being I will have to wait 2 hours. Well I am glad it was the former, we waiting for about 20 minutes when we moved to a room. In about 5 minutes we were seen by cheerful and caring doctor who patiently answered all the questions and prescribed the treatment. All in all we were out in about 50 minutes. The worst place to take a child!!! Not only do you have to wait for ages, but they don't care about your child--they only care about billing. They ordered blood tests for my daughter and wanted to perform them right there at all costs. They gave me a million excuses because I had the tests done at Quest instead. Terrible administration. Billing also sucks. They will cancel your appointments with no explanation or reason behind it. They randomly lose record of ur insurance and they will charge you more after the visit without any record of what you already paid. I brought my child here for a daycare-required exam and vaccinations. Due to a major life event, I don't have insurance until next month--but daycare said an extension is fine. Instead of trying to work with me, this office tried to charge me $300 upfront. No offer of a discount, no suggestions for free or low-cost alternatives, just a hard no. I had to drive to another office that helped me right away and gave the extension without any issue. I get that businesses need to make money--but this place clearly isn't in it for the care. I sat and thought about the words I would say to Dr. Julian Lacey for some time. My daughter has been a patient since 2010ish, she's seen many doctors and up until 2020 most of her visits were "well child". In 2019 my daughter was starting to have secondary amenorrhea, this happened shortly after the HPV vaccine. I shared the information with the pediatrician, and he informed me that the protocol called for more than 3 months for it to be considered an issue. At the 3-month point, I went to see him, and he performed an examination and some bloodwork. All was normal. Dr. Lacey called to go over the blood work and explained that he thought it could be stress from covid, lack of sleep, or a change in eating or exercise routine. None of this made sense for my daughter, but I trusted his opinion. She continued to skip her cycle every 3 months she would have one. I'm not a doctor, but in our family, we never encountered this problem. During this time, she also had extreme headaches, weird inflammatory issues, and abdominal pain. We continued to see Dr. Lacey, he was experienced and had 2 daughters my daughter's age, I felt he was a good fit. After the second HPV vaccine, my daughter's period skipped 6 months, we took additional blood work and again it was normal, I pushed to have her seen by a GYN and he issued a referral. All this time I felt like I was going insane trying to help my daughter, fighting for her. In February 2023 my daughter was diagnosed with POI (premature ovarian Insufficiency). We tried to preserve her fertility, and we were able to save 1 egg. If we were doing blood work more often, perhaps it could have been caught earlier, if I had the full picture and knew that the HPV vaccine had extreme side effects, I could have made a better decision. We have 1 year left at the office and that is the only reason we are staying, I only go when it is absolutely needed, then I seek a specialist. If you are at this office and you feel something is not right, get a second opinion. read more

My experience with Pediatric Associates is that they lack true continuity of care. We've been bounced around from one location to the next for years when my children are sick, due to lack of availability at the location closest to my home. Now who I acknowledged as my child's PCP no longer considers her a patient as she responded to a recent scheduling request by saying my daughter would be considered a "new patient" and she is no longer accepting new patients. I'll start by saying Natasha the MA is absolutely amazing both my kids love her and don't even mind getting shots. Dr. Arguello & Dr. Lacey are also really great. But the reason I am giving it 1 star is because the front staff & the call center are horrible they are rude for the 2.5 years I've been a mom I have never had luck with the call center. It's hit or miss with the front desk. Also be prepared to wait a LONG time. We just bring toys and hope our appointment is not near nap time. If you need the convenance of your medical records in one central area and the ability to go all around sofl great go to peds associates if that's not important, run! read more

Didn't care for Dr. Julian Lacey. He seemed knowledgeable, but as a new mom I had a lot of questions that are almost always answered by google to " ask your pediatrician" so I did. He was very judgy and dismissive of my new mom-ness of it all. I just moved across the country with a newborn and in a new place and my brain as a new stressed out mom was all over the place. My concerns (looking back as an experienced mom) were not exactly valid concerns but they felt very valid at the time, and he was very condescending when I expressed those concerns. They don't let you hold your baby when they need shots, so heartbreak on top of heartbreak, and it just wasn't a good experience overall, so I left and found a different pediatrician. (Dr. Silverberg at the Dan Marino Nicklaus Children's outpatient center and my god what a difference!) I would not take my child to pediatric associates again. read more

I have been taking my children to Pediatric Associates for 11 years - since they were born. We have been to several locations and seen a double-digit number of care providers in their offices. My review of this practice is, they are perfectly fine... as long as your child is healthy, and you are going there for well-child visits and annual exams. The minute your child gets sick - it all falls apart. This has been the case for us a number of times when our children have been unwell - we've gone in for sick visits, only for our concerns to be minimized and to be told that they can do nothing unless/until the child has been sick for over 10 days, at which point we can schedule a return visit for x-rays, antibiotics, etc. Perhaps this is sound medical advice under certain circumstances - but on two separate occasions, we've gone for a second opinion elsewhere, and upon performing a physical exam and getting labs on our children, they have been prescribed antibiotics or other medications to treat illnesses that Pediatric Associates "ruled out." The most egregious example of this happened to me last month. I took my son, age 11 and in the 5th grade, to Pediatric Associates for a sick appointment because he had been running 103-104 fevers for 5 days straight, missed a week of school, and had lost a significant amount of weight (he is already clinically underweight). The care provider we saw said that "its normal for kids to run fevers for five days," and to use conservative measures at home to treat his symptoms. She said if he worsened, to come back in for a return visit. I can understand this advice in a toddler, but in an eleven-year-old boy who has missed a week of school in the 5th grade, I was surprised. More than what she said, the "how she said it" factor really troubled me - she seemed extremely dismissive of my concerns and rapidly moved through the office appointment, claiming that she worked fast "because she was from New York, and its how I do things." Yeah, no. I lived in a major city in the Northeast for over a decade, and I can say that "moving quickly" and performing an inadequate physical exam, demonstrating outright disregard and an almost sarcastic, cavalier attitude towards a parent's concerns, making them feel like they're overreacting - is not a cultural facet of being from a region of the United States. It is medical gaslighting, plain and simple. Within about 2 hours of leaving their office, I felt uneasy about my child's appearance and took him for a second opinion at an urgent care center, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia and given a prescription for antibiotics, steroid nebulizer, and x-rays. I was furious about my visit to Pediatric Associates. My son spent another entire week home from school, even with antibiotics and nebulizer treatments, because his condition was so serious. We ended up having a follow-up visit to Pediatric Associates and saw a different practitioner, only because my son's school needed a doctor's note for him to return to school. This second practitioner, sorry to say, was even ruder and more dismissive than the first - he honestly stated that he didn't know the other care provider personally, but he unilaterally backed up her position just based on her written notes in the EMR system, was argumentative from the beginning that "maybe we just thought his fevers were that high, but they really weren't," and "maybe you just thought his pulse ox was that low, but it really wasn't" (this is despite me showing photos on my phone of the temperatures and pulse ox readings). He also literally stepped backwards and did a "pearl-clutching" gesture when I shared that we had our child undergo chest x-rays elsewhere - and stated in horror that he couldn't believe I'd "irradiate my child" over such a minor illness. With a pulse ox of 91% for 2 days, I can assure you that a chest x-ray wasn't an overreaction - my son was having difficulty breathing! Again, MEDICAL GASLIGHTING. I was livid, and couldn't control my anger in the appointment - I told the doctor that physicians like him are the reason why people use emergency room visits as their primary health care. He replied to me, "maybe that's what you should do from now on, I tell that to my patients all the time." I respect the hard work, patience, and years of experience that many health care providers bring to their patient interactions. Most people who have gone through medical training will tell you that one of the hardest, if not THE hardest, aspect of general pediatrics are the interactions and trust-building that has to take place between doctors and patients. I can say, with a clear conscience and nothing to hold back, that Pediatric Associates has lost my trust. DO NOT take your children there. This practice will not walk the journey with you when your child is sick - and that is when you need trust the most. read more

While we loved Brandy Durant, the nurse practitioner there, we have decided to leave the practice due to poor patient care. When my children have been sick I have had to take them to urgent care because not one Pediatric Associates location would see my child within THREE DAYS. This has happened on multiple occasions. Telehealth was recommended. I'm not sure how a telehealth doctor would be able to diagnose an ear infection and prescribe an antibiotic. I would not want to give my child an antibiotic without confirmation that he actually has an infection requiring antibiotics. They have outsourced all of the phone operations overseas so when you call, you can't even talk to someone in this country much less at that office. This place prioritizes business first and care of children second. If you are fine with an office that can only see your child when healthy, it's fine. If you have any expectation of being seen at any one of their locations when your child is sick, this isn't the practice for you. Edited to add in response to the business manager's comment: This perfectly highlights the practice's approach. If Pediatric Associates was really concerned about how poorly they are managing patients and addressing their patients frustration , the response would be to contact me. This chain used to be grate but has drastically changed for the worse. We usually visit the pediatric associates in Chapel Trail but decided to come to Weston. I had a confirmed appointment and showed up 30 mins early but unfortunately didn't get in on time. They usually have an area for "well" patents and another for " sick" patents. There were so many sick people it made no difference as there were no dividers, no curtains or walls to divide the space...just 2 signs. read more

This place runs like a third-world free clinic. There are about 15 mouth-breathers working the front desk with only 2-3 patients in the waiting room, and they still can't correct the error-filled patient intake information in their database that was put in the system by a non-English speaking phone appointment setter. They could not give me the forms I needed to file an insurance claim, nor could they give me the correct school forms for the kid's school and told me to call in a couple of days... If you want to talk to someone in the office by phone, fuck you. You can't. Gotta just walk in, you know like the DMV. Their phone systems are an automated circular Farris wheel of fictitious options that can keep you occupied for 45 minutes without ever getting close to a live person on the phone. I think it is pretty clear by my review that we won't be going back. read more

After years of taking my 3 kids to Pediatric Associates-of Weston, I realize I have only been taking my kids here out of convenience. Patients are corralled in and out like an assembly line. You wait a long time in the waiting room, fill out forms and patient questionnaires that are seemingly read by no one. Then you are moved to an exam room and wait there a long time, only to spend 10 minutes with the doctor. My older teen child had a terrible recent experience during a well exam with Dr. Sofia Kahn. The "exam" was woefully generic, rushed, and ultimately quite upsetting for my older teen daughter. She went alone and tried to ask the doctor some questions and convey some personal health concerns, but the doctor was obviously on a tight schedule and had to check boxes on a form and get in and out as quickly as possible. When I called later to discuss the incident, the doctor was immediately defensive, and and argumentative. She actually told me that it was not the time or place to ask "in-depth questions" about health and wellness - during a well exam. Are you kidding me? All my daughter wanted was to be heard by her doctor. She was not. She advised me that we should come back and make another appointment. Yeah right. I advise parents to think twice and consider a smaller practice or one that is less focused on process, protocols and profits and much more on personal patient care and advocacy. If all you want out of your pediatrician is convenient hours, a place to stay up-to-date on your kid's vaccines, and get school and sports forms completed - by robot doctors- this place is fine. Wait days for an appointment even when suffering or has fever forcing patients to urgent care when your pediatrician is who you need. Their phone system is horrible, they have more doctors than staff answering calls. Try to setup an appointment on the phone, average 30-40min, and that is when you are existent patient. Only reason i stay there for so long was because of my kids doctor, she is amazing, but good luck on the battle to get anyone answering the phone. *** Warning they are not professional and withheld my sons medical records from dec 3 until dec 31. Only until I informed them I was planning to file a lawsuit did they even tell me when I could expect them. **** Could not be more disappointed in the unprofessionalism shown by Dr. Sofia Kahn. To start we had what we were told was the first "non newborn" appointment of the day for my 5 month olds well visit. After waiting for 1 hour and 15 minutes we were greeted by a less than enthusiastic "Dr" Kahn. She said good morning and I replied annoyed that "it's almost afternoon by now". She sat down at the computer without saying a word. Came over to the examining table placed the stereoscope on my sons chest, looked into his ears, firmly readjusted his back to the table and began pressing on his stomach. By now I had, had ENOUGH. It is one thing to be annoyed with me but to take it out on my 5 month old is incomprehensible, especially by a pediatrician. I told her " you could at least smile or say hello to him and make him feel some what comfortable" she replied , as my child was clearly scared and uncomfortable, "he is comfortable. This appointment is over." And proceeded to walk out of the room. Shocked I replied "this is not over, I have questions this is not how this is going to end." She clearly was agitated as she answered my questions. And left. I could not be more disappointed in the behavior of this "doctor". While she may have been annoyed with me, I was disgusted that she let her feelings for me compromise the quality of care for my son. She didn't check his mouth, she didn't inspect his flat spot of his head she didn't ask how he was progressing with milestones and even failed to ask if we had questions. Even my sons father, who had seen Sofia Kahn as a child was upset, quickly finding another doctor as soon as we left not wanting to go through that again. Do yourself and your child a favor and find a doctor committed to providing quality care to their patients. Not a "woman" controlled by her emotions. She shouldn't be allowed to work with children. To make matters worse they withheld my child's medical records from dec 3 to past the dec 30 refusing to send to me or the requesting medical office we changed to. I even went to the office asking to pick them up or how I could expedite and the less than professional " assistant manager" Samantha refused to help. I started visiting the Weston location after my visits at Chapel Trail were less than satisfactory. (See previous reviews at Chapel Trail location.) Since using the Weston office, I have nothing but positive things to say about the wait time. Although the drive may be an additional 15 minutes, I'm still in and out in the amount of time I would be waiting at Chapel Trail. Today, for example, I made an appointment for 9:30am, for one kid. Not realizing the other child was also due for vaccinations until we were meeting with the nurse, the one child appointment turned to two. Height, weight, checkup and six shots later, were were in our car headed home by 10:30am. If I made the same appointment at Chapel Trail, I would still be waiting. Also, Doctor Khan and Doctor Kendrick are amazing! Doctor Kendrick once made a person out of a tongue depressor for my three year old (by simply drawing a face on it.) My son was seeing by Dr Sanchez and it was a horrible experience. Even tough I did clearly tell two nurses and the Dr herself that the reason my son was there was growth and hight issues, she was condescending and told him to his face he was short and overweight. Terrible place, they have no pride in their job, the staff runs on "Auto-pilot" and they'll keep asking the same questions over and over again (they don´t read the charts nor do they talk to each other). Waiting times are extreme even with an appointment.. First time we brought in our newborn (3 days old) for a check-up,it took in excess of an hour in a freezing room.. They had to poke the little guy twice due to the lack of communication. Second time we waited more than an hour, then we asked to get our money back and left. At that time all we had see was the waiting room.. Keeping a newborn in the same environment as sick people for so long is also not a good idea.... Consider finding somewhere else, we are looking. read more

Managed like any other doctor office, this location is clean, with professional staff, but not friendly and do not go out of their way in their approach with the children, or their parents. It's well maintained and we made it in/out this morning in 30 minutes. Our last visit we were in/out in 45. Both doctors we saw were competent. I am new to the area and was searching for a good pediatrician. I recently visited this facility and was pretty skeptical due to previous reviews. I had a great visit and was pleasantly surprised. Let's start by saying that I filled out an on-line inquiry for a new patient appointment and received a call from the office within a few hours. I was able to set up a next day appointment for 3 kids! Pretty amazing. The office decor was very kid friendly (toys for the kids and a few TVs playing different cartoons). We waited for about 20 minutes before we got to see the doctor. This is pretty good considering we were new patients (3 kids in total). They did a thorough physical and even some blood work right on site. My kids were seen by Dr. Ronald Bullard. He was really great with them and very personable. He made them feel very comfortable and even cracked some jokes. He had an awesome personality and made me feel at ease asking him questions. He took his time with us (I did not feel rushed). When the doctor left the room, I was greeted by the office manager who asked me about my experience and urged me to contact her with any questions or concerns. As I reviewed the brochure she left behind, I noticed they have numerous sites and expanded hours of operations (they are even open on weekends -- and you can visit any facility). I also saw some information regarding changes they made to improve wait times. They hired an outside consultant to assist and as a result the wait times have improved. I am very happy to have chosen this facility and hope I continue to have good visits going forward. I will keep you all posted. read more

I don't understand how good doctors work here. Their administration is THE WORST. They will never see my kid's faces again thanks to their trusty team up front. THE WORST, THE WORST, THE WORST. Save yourself the headache from dealing with them. Really. (Yes, Dr Khan is great. I love her. If she opened up her own practice I would follow her. But I refuse to deal with the front desk. 90% of them are rude and just pushing papers.
