Starting as polyps, colon cancer grows slowly over 10 to 15 years. It often presents with no symptoms in the early stages which is why screening is so critical for early detection. Screening is recommended starting at age 45. If detected early, colon cancer has a 91 percent survival rate. Getting a colonoscopy is something I have been putting off for years. If I knew how easy and painless it actually is, I would have done it much sooner. Someone I work with recommended Dr. Adam Lessne to me and I could not be happier. I was able to see him for a consultation where he went over my medical history and decided if I was a candidate for the surgery center next door which is South Broward Endoscopy or if I needed to go to the hospital. Fortunately I was given the go ahead for the surgery center which is much more convenient and cheaper, He prescribed me the prep and about a month later I went for the procedure at South Broward Endoscopy. The night before the procedure I took the prep starting at 6 PM and the second half at midnight. I didn't get any sleep but I could have worked the day I started prep. I arrived early in the morning, checked in, and waited a short while before being taken back. Everything was explained to me by the nursing staff in a caring way and I was visited by the anesthesiologist who told me they would be using propanol which I was happy about. The IV was started and I was wheeled back to the procedure room. The last thing I remember was feeling a little fuzzy and then I was waking up less than 30 minutes later. I had no pain and I remember nothing of the procedure. I actually felt great. Dr. Lessne stopped by to tell me everything went as well as it could possibly go, I didn't have any polyps, and see you in 10 years. I got dressed, they gave me crackers and juice, and I was on my way. Even though I felt good I still had to have someone drive me to and from the procedure. I am so glad that I had my colonoscopy performed by Dr. Lessne at South Broward Endoscopy. I felt like I was in skilled and caring hands from start to finish. I know some people choose to use Cologuard but the high error rate was not for me. As many as one in ten tests will not detect polyps or cancer. Of other concern was the fact that my insurance only covers a preventive colonoscopy. If I needed to have one for diagnostic purposes I would have had to pay a portion of it. With the colonoscopy scheduled as preventive I could have any cancer causing polyps removed for free. I feel really fortunate that my colon was completely healthy. Dr. Lessne's office and South Broward Endoscopy were great about communicating with me leading up to the procedure and checking in with me after. The few hours out of my life and one night with no sleep was easily worth the peace of mind I now have. I highly recommend Dr. Lessne and the caring staff of South Broward Endoscopy. My experience at South Florida Endoscopy on Sheridan Street ( 11011 Sheridan St, Suite 106, Cooper City, Florida 33026) was absolutely terrible from start to finish. The employees' attitudes are horrible -- not pleasant, not welcoming, and definitely not patient-focused. It felt like we were an inconvenience to them. I came in today with my mom for her colonoscopy, and the rules they enforce are some of the worst I've ever experienced. After checking in, I was told no one is allowed to stay with the patient, not even to help them change or stay with them until the procedure starts. That alone was extremely upsetting. Then it got worse -- they don't even let family wait in the waiting room. Only the patient is allowed to be inside. I was told I had to wait outside in the car or leave the building entirely and that they would call me 30 minutes before pickup. For a medical procedure where the patient is sedated, this policy is unacceptable, inconsiderate, and stressful. The facility is also under construction, which raises major concerns about cleanliness and safety. They claim they send text messages, but nothing in the messages explains these rules clearly. With all the construction going on, how can anyone be sure the procedure area is even up to code? It made me even more nervous about my mom's well-being and any potential future issues. Overall, this is a very bad practice with terrible communication, terrible rules, and terrible staff attitudes. Unfortunately, this is the center that my physician conducts colonoscopies at. The staff is unprofessional, the majority expect darlene had zero regards towards patient care, compassion or even an understanding that patients are sick needing the procedure and perhaps they don't feel well and may be awaiting an unknown diagnosis for something serious. The negative experience starts in the waiting room where there is zero compassion or care for the individual that must take you to the appointment. I was not told that your companion was not allowed to sit in the waiting area before arriving. There is no where for them to go and wait. Zero accommodations are in place. We are new to the area so my mother was completely unaware of her surroundings to find a spot to wait. 2. When i was called inside, my nurse/tech started her screening questions while i stood the entire time, its a long screening list. Typically at other facilities the nurse has the patient sit and get comfortable and explains what is going to happen first. 3. I couldn't even hear the nurse's questions, because the nurse/tech with the patient behind the curtain next to me was speaking so loudly and spoke a million miles per hour, she was having small talk with the patient it was inappropriate. I had to tell my nurse i couldn't hear her. Knowing that there are no walls in between patients this nurse/tech could use some common sense to speak softer. 4. Someone else comment on the anesthesiologist. Everything seem to go well before the procedure with her when I got wheeled into the room. Although the music that was playing in the room was inappropriate for a patient. It was Earned it by the Weeknd. I have been to facilities where they have aromatherapy for patients and they allow patients to pick their own music. It's a whole thing to make the patient feel comfortable, but not this place. They don't give a damn about what the patient experience is like. 5. The last straw was when i woke up from the anesthesia. The nurses were gossiping about some scandal that happened between a married couple. They were speaking so loudly and laughing so hard. It was so disruptive who wants to be woken up like that? When i asked if they could please lower their voices, there was a pause and the anesthesiologist said "well you need to wake up anyways!" It was so rude. And as a patient made me feel horrible. This place needs a big lesson on customer service, compassion and patient care. I would never willingly choose to go back. read more

i would not recommend this place to anyone very unprofessional lack of communication. I booked a procedure and the day of the procedure they told me i had to pay $800 no one contacted me. they had my phone number incorrect in the system even though i input the correct number they still had it wrong on there end. they emailed me days before to pre check and then i also confirmed my phone number and my ride because i was told i wouldn't be able to drive after the procedure. the day morning of the procedure they called my ride thinking it was me. time wasted coming here no help at all the only thing they could offer was to reschedule but i declined because i would not do business with them being that the lack of communication was horrible and just unprofessional in general. My family and I have been using this facility for years, however our last experience wasn't so great. My biggest complaint is that I wasn't able to go back to the prep area with my husband. Previously, he was able to come back with me, so this must be a new rule. Any other same Day surgery will let you back to the prep area and then call you back to recovery too. I found the staff to be less friendly than before. Not sure if ownership or management changed, but I may look into a more accommodating facility next time. read more

BEWARE. I asked the doctor approximately how much the endoscopy would cost. He said even without insurance max would be 2.5k. Well I have the most expensive insurance plan. They charged over 9K for the entire thing plus charged me $250 upfront, which is illegal when you have an insurance card per my insurance agent. After insurance, I still am being charged 2.5K. Absolutely insane. Theft! They also charged for tests I did not request. I filed complaints with the CFPB and FDACS. They respond to comments on here pretending they will work things out with patients and they do not. All show. Do not go here. You will regret it. Ok yeah I am reviewing where I had my colonoscopy you can't escape it so if you have to go come here. This is my second visit as I have to come every three years. Located in a medical complex with plenty of parking out front. You can' t go alone as you can' t drive yourself home after the procedure. Even though once inside there is a packed waiting area the process goes quickly. Bring your driver's license and insurance card and they have you review your information to make sure it is correct. Once they check you in they put a hospital bracelet on you. Don't get freaked out as I did when they ask if you have a living will and if you are in distress they will be taking you to Memorial Hospital across the street. OMG I am too young to die. I have no other options so I proceed. I kiss my son good bye as they bring me in the back for the procedure. That is where they first run a pregnancy test. Than I change into a hospital gown as they start the IV in my hand. They roll me into where they put you out. Next thing you know you are waking up from your 30 minute procedure. They give you juice and you get dressed. I see than Dr. Lanoue and they hand you photos from the procedure. There is no rush and he has all the time in the world for you. Thankfully he is young as we will be together for a lot more procedures over the next few decades. read more

These people are angels. They really, really made me feel at ease and calmed my nerves from the moment I walked in. I kept putting off getting a colonoscopy screening due to, well, the unpleasantness of the procedure itself, and fear. I had never been to a Gastro before and didn't know who to choose and boy am I glad I chose Dr. Weiss and his staff. I finally booked my appt after telling my PCP and Gyn for years that I would. It was time. The initial consult went smooth. Dr. Weiss took his time explaining the process and procedures with me. His assistant will give you instructions to follow starting 3 days prior to the colonoscopy. They will call the pharmacy themselves who will deliver the yummy prep solution to your home. This is the part where everyone says is the worst part: the prep. It's not a horrible taste but after a while, you taste buds just won't want it anymore. Just do it. You must. And don't forget to buy extra toilet paper.   On the day of the procedure, you will speak with several staff members prior to the actual procedure, ie: the check in desk, the registration person who will ask for your insurance card, ID, and any payments that may be due by you at the time. They will take your temperature and place a wrist band on you. When they call you in, someone else will confirm why you are there and will ask some brief health questions and you will sign a consent. Then, you will change into the gown and socks and a nurse will take over from there. They will place an IV on your hand. The anesthesiologist team will come over and ask you some more questions. The Doctor will come over to greet you. Then, another team will come over to wheel you in to "the room". The procedure itself is very quick (maybe 30 minutes) but 5 seconds after they put the anesthesia in your IV, it's lights out! Like everyone says, it is the best sleep ever! You will not feel a thing!! You will then wake up in the recovery area and wonder, is that it?? The Dr will come over to explain what they found and what the next steps will be, if any. Then, they will give you water or juice, you get dressed and you go home after your driver arrives. Remember, you must make transportation arrangements the day of the procedure because they will not let you leave until your driver is outside.   Everyone there is so nice. They are very professional and organized. If you are feeling scared and keep putting off getting a colonoscopy like I did, don't. It's not bad at all and these people will really take care of you! This business is very professional all around. From the doctors, nurses, office staffs, anesthesiologists, and everyone else who works there are AMAZING! This is the second time I've used this facility( the one in Cooper City with Dr. Mishiev and his staff. It is refreshing to walk in an office and to see that everyone is courteous and professional. Dr. Mishiev bedside manners are to be commendable. He takes the time to explain whatever procedure that he's going to perform and then listens to whatever question(s) you have. My recent procedures (colonoscopy & Endoscopy) were so pleasant that I couldn't believe how quickly they were done. By the time I could go into a deep sleep, I was already in recovery. This is the best place to go for a colonoscopy. Everyone from the friendly staff that greet you when you arrive, to the nurses and other clinical staff treat you respectfully and caringly. The facility was very clean and well organized. My husband was called in promptly. His physician spoke to my husband and myself after the procedure was completed. He was compassionate and took the time to explain and answer all of our questions. This is our third time using South Broward Endoscopy rather than going to the hospital. I had my first colonoscopy and endoscopy on June 17th and I was very nervous going into it as I am young and have never done a procedure like this before. The experience from the start with the front desk staff was great! Everyone was kind, quick and efficient. I did not wait at all for anything. This is the 2nd time my husband has a colonoscopy here. His doctor, Leon Maratchi is excellent BUT the actual establishment staff is not good. They don't communicate well with the patient nor the patients family. One staff member tells you one things as the other tells you something else. Bad communication with themselves and with their patients. First experience three years ago was really good, I'm guessing it was better staff back then. This is NOT a dentists office - but an outpatient endoscopy center. I had a procedure done here recently and it went without a hitch. I thought everyone was quite friendly from the front desk personnel until the recovery room nurse. I know no one likes to come to a place like this, but, let's face it, we all will at some point or another and it's nice to know that there will be a nice and knowledgeable group of folks taking care of you - especially since you're usually totally "out of it" (a good thing!) while they're taking the peek. read more

The staff was ok in friendliness, the nurse did ask how I am feeling, I did say nervous & she said everything will be ok, now go pee in A cup, never told me why, but I did it & then never told me results, so whatever they were looking for wasn't there, the nurse staff once your in your bed really don't come check up on you, I kept complaining there was A fly in the area & it was driving me crazy & no one did anything about it, until finally the fly moved on by it's self,& the anthologist explained in full detail what was happening, so that's good, I do like the location, Dr. Leon Maratchi is an excellent great doctor. I showed up at 8:30 am for my appointment to be told that I was not on their schedule. They checked with the physician who said he would do my procedure but I had to go home and come back later at 11:00 to be fit in. That was how I was treated at this facility. Instead of squeezing me in I was told to come back later. Sorry you aren't on our schedule nothing we can do....even though I had the paper I was given for my procedure with the time. Please, the facility is owned by the physicians that use it, the office made the mistake squeeze me in while I am there. The staff does things their way. Some are puppets some are mouths! It's also all about the money....you question something they ALL get involved. No privacy where HIPA guidelines should be concerned. The only good thing I have to say is my nurse was wonderful who placed my IV. After the procedure it's OK over time to go....no snack offered. Very cold! Next time I go to the hospital for an outpatient procedure none of the "convenience" of an outpatient facility. Let's put it this way, if I hadn't prepped for this colonoscopy, I would have said forget it but I went through with the procedure since I didn't want to have to prep all over again.... read more
