This pediatric dentist's office is equal parts magical and professional. It's got a very cute and comprehensive under the sea theme complete with fish tanks and themed decorations throughout the office. My son was 6 when we first started going here and he was so excited to explore all of the sea themed stuff. The staff is exceptionally professional and friendly as well as patient with my son who can be apprehensive about treatment. We've seen Dr. Rimi for my son's periodic treatments and she is so knowledgeable, patient and kind to my son. We cannot recommend this pediatric dentist's office enough. The best dentist for kids Dr Rimi! My son was having hard time w his nerves when it came to the dentist. He was 7 when we found Dr Rimi. He loved Dr Lora in Mountain View. When we moved we tried the Blackhawk pediatric dentist and he had ONE bad experience and I couldn't get him back in. This office reminds me time and time again why we love this office. Everyone is sweet and knowledgeable from the dentist to the office staff. They are extremely efficient with time management. Anyone that has toddlers knows that their attention span is so short. When you walk in they have toys, movies and refreshments. The ladies at the front desk are prepared for your appointment which is refreshing. When we got called back, we had Lisa do my daughters cleaning. She is so sweet and friendly. She explained everything to me and my 4 year old before any part of the cleaning procedure was done. They also have movies playing above the chair to keep young children still which is an added bonus. Dr Tammy is a kind and extremely knowledgeable dentist. She explains things well and answers questions confidently while using the correct verbiage that would never scare a child. Overall our kids love this place. They leave feeling spoiled with a little goody bag full of toothbrushes and toys. And again, they do a great job with time efficiency which is important to this mom that is always dropping off and picking up someone. Make sure to call ahead to book after school appointments ASAP for these time slots go extremely fast. I am so happy with this dental office! My friend recommended this dentistry to us. We had a dental emergency over the weekend and I called in. I reached the after hours number and was able to speak directly to Dr. Rimi! She was such a big help! Since our first encounter everything has been just aaaaamaazzziiinnggg! We were able to schedule an appointment the next day. They were able to get treatment started promptly! The staff and doctors were so great with both my boys!!! The new office is sooooo cool! Still the same beach/surf vibe which I love with more amenities! The sitting room is very comfortable, with a self serve coffee/water area, a big screen t.v., and a soothing aquarium. The restroom is clean plus it smells very clean and sanitized. But, the most important update I have is regarding the caring dentist, Dr. Tami. She is wonderful! Not only was she gentle and easy handed with my son, but she extended her care by making a follow-up phone call to make sure everything was going well hours after my son had a minor procedure done. Now that this practice has moved to a new space, the shiny new facility now matches the great service that you get here. Once again, they were prompt to see us almost immediately after arriving on-time for our appointment. I found their waiting area to be large and spacious, and very suitable for young children with toys, a train table, fish tank, and plenty of seating area. There was also a nice coffee bar, although we were taken back so promptly that I did not get a chance to grab a cup of Jo (not that I mind). This was the first visit where they tried to get x-rays for my son. He gagged and although they were not successful, they were very patient and kind and my son responded with cooperation. They did not push him to get the x-rays done and took him back to get his teeth cleaned. The cleaning process went quickly and Dr. Tami came to see my son a few minutes later. She was also very patient and tried to engage my son to keep him at ease. Overall, we had another great experience at this new location. My daughter needed extensive work done. Our family dentist referred us to a dentist who I met with and had a consultation with. Being in the health care industry I knew I had to seek out more than just one consultation. Yelp lead me to Pediatric Dentistry and I am so grateful. After 3 different consultations with 3 different dentists, Dr Rimi and Dr Tami made me feel the most comfortable. All 3 agreed that It should be done under anesthesia. Dr Rimi and Dr Tami also practice at Children's Hospital Shadelands campus. My daughter needed so much work done that she had to have anesthesia. The thought of my daughter going under anesthesia in a dental office and not a hospital facility frightened me. Again, I am health care provider so my standards are based on all the possible things that could and may go wrong. So when the procedure was coordinated to be done at a surgical center with medical support, my decision was made to proceed! The office staff and dental staff are all genuinely sweet and caring. Kellie kept me in the loop and set up dates and times for us. She informed me on my insurance coverages. She prepared us for the hospital day and explained what the day would be like. Dr.Rimi is a godsend. I have a special needs kiddo who has a very hard time with any medical procedure. At his previous pediatric dentist, he never even made it through minute one of any type of cleaning, never had X-rays, half the time had a meltdown in the parking lot. I can't even count how many times he got off the chair and ran to the door to get out of there. From the second you enter, everyone is happy and helpful. Super cute welcoming office. And you could eat off the floor in there! Our previous guy is in a dingy dark depressing office with nothing to engage a kid, typical or atypical. Dr. Rimi has everything, from music to movies, high tech everything, options for everything, but most of all, she has patience and kindness. And she does whatever she needs to do to make your kiddo feel safe and comfortable. Not only did he get his teeth cleaned, he got a fluoride treatment, flossed, and X-rays! She is a MIRACLE WORKER. He hugged her at the end of his visit. UNREAL. If you have a kiddo who is sensitive to other's energy, this is the place. She even has a therapy dog you can pet to chill out if you need! read more

So, we have been going here from the beginning (my kids are teens now) and while I used to love this practice, not so much anymore. Maybe its their attitude, their lack of appointment times unless you make it 2 years in advance (yes, I recommend making appointments for the next 4 cycles out if you want to get appointment times that are reasonable), maybe it their constant "vote for us as best dental practice" requests across social media, maybe its their pushing for xrays almost every single time (and no, they are not willing to work with you to get those xrays from the orthodontist even if they were just taken a few weeks earlier. No money in it for them unless THEY are the ones doing them.) Whatever it is, it's seems like they are now more about their financial bottom line, than their patients. In short, what used to be a good practice has really gone downhill in the last few years and left a bad impression of late. read more

We love Pediatric Dentistry San Ramon. Everyone in this office is very friendly and helpful. They are also thorough, knowledgeable, efficient, and they do a wonderful job putting children (and parents!) at ease. My son recently needed a silver crown on one of his baby molars and he was nervous...but they made him feel comfortable right away, letting him pick out a movie to watch during the procedure, and explaining step by step what they were doing (in kid-friendly terms) to ease his anxiety. Afterwards, they were so kind - called him a "soldier", which made him feel proud. :) Dr. Tami called later that day to check on him and make sure he was doing well. She truly cares about her patients, in addition to being awesome at what she does. My son loves his new "rocketship" tooth. With another dentist, this could have been quite an ordeal, but thankfully we were in very capable hands! My sons have been patients of Pediatric Dentistry San Ramon for roughly 5 years. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the facility (new location since summer 2014) is beautiful and not far from 680. My kids actually enjoy going to the dentist because they love being able to watch a movie while they have their teeth cleaned and picking up a tchotchke from the prize cabinets. I guess the cleanings must not hurt them that much either! And I feel comfortable with their diagnoses. Another note is that the hygienists always review the kids' health histories and reiterate their awareness of the kids' food allergies. Dr. Rimi also recently helped us on a Sunday afternoon because my son had kneed himself in the mouth ("huh?" I know, right?). He was curled up in pain, crying inconsolably for 10 minutes, and he thought he had knocked his tooth loose. Dr. Rimi met with us within 30 minutes of my emergency call -- and this, on her day off and when the office is closed -- and checked out my son's teeth. Thankfully he checked out fine. Dr. Rimi was warm and friendly as ever as I apologized for interrupting her weekend! I'm grateful to have a warm and responsive dentist for my kids' unexpected accidents! read more

I forgot to add that a few months ago we went in to see Dr Rimi for 2 loose baby teeth. She did not advise me what she was going to do. She yanked one of his loose teeth without notice. My son had no numbing gel or anything for pain. Yanking a tooth on a child that has high anxiety without telling parent or child what you are doing is sick. Then on our last appointment, Dr. Rimi says "So he didn't like the sneak attack". Any dentist that uses words like sneak attack and then says a child is combative is not a dentist that puts a child's mental well being above wanting to get a job done in my opinion. This dentist lost our trust and respect. Always be aware about the use of restraint in this office. We chose to find a dentist that builds trust, doesn't engage in restraint and sneak attacks, and would not violate my sons boundaries. Our last visit here my son was pushed into tears due to the assistant taunting him. Be aware of how things are done. Don't listen to the sugar coated explanations. Know how they treat your child. I wish I would have insisted on staying in the room with him. read more

Dr. Rimi, Dr. Tami, and everyone else on staff are so pleasant to work with and they genuinely care about my kids. The office is tranquil and beautiful with its Hawaiian theme. I so appreciate the coffee and water while I'm waiting. My kids favorite, besides the great prizes they get, is they can watch movies while having their dental work done. I visited this dentistry with my 3 year old son for his first time routine check up. I received a form from the dentistry to be filled with the details, so I filled the form including my dental insurance details. Aftet that I got the appointment and I took my son and even upon arrival they didn't even bothered to tell me that they don't take HMO. They did the procedure and other necessary things knowing that they don't include HMO plans. After few weeks they sent us the bill for full payment. Later on upon discussing the whole issue with one of the member from the dental office she stated that she will call us back after finding out everything, instead we received another bill with an increased amount. Again we called the office they informed us that we should make the payment as they don't support HMO and I can claim the same from my insurance knowing the fact that insurance won't do anything. In a good faith, I made the payment and upon calling the insurance they denied that they won't be able to do anything as the dentistry should have informed me earlier that they don't support HMO. I am shocked and felt cheated by the dentistry. I visited this dentistry upon getting good reviews about it. This was for sure first and last visit for me and my friends. Please be aware. read more

My family has been coming here for over 10 years and we have had some issues here and there with the two doctors and their attitudes, but never enough for me to write a review like I am about to. I took my 11 year old here today to get two canines extracted, something that was requested through her orthodontist. She was taken into the back and I was asked to stay in the waiting room. All was fine. 20 mins later, Dr. Tami comes out to give me an update before they allowed my daughter to come and talk to me. She told me that my daughter "did great but had SOME tears." There was something almost mocking in the way she said it but I brushed it aside and didn't think twice about it. My daughter came out, clearly upset, but I assumed it was because she was in pain. We spent the rest of the day watching movies, making smoothies, trying to cheer her up but aside from the smile here and there, she was not herself. Eventually she opened up and told my husband and me that the doctor yelled at her to "stop crying RIGHT NOW" with a death glare. How is this behavior acceptable at a PEDIATRIC office?? Do they not deal with CHILDREN all the time?? Do those children who are getting sedation and numbing medication not cry when their teeth are being yanked out? Needless to say this was the last straw for my family. I am extremely disappointed in this office and will be passing along this info to my orthodontist so he knows who he is referring us to. This office looks great and thats pretty much it - they don't VALUE THE PARENTS decisions and they are MAKING THEIR OWN decisions about your child. The were nagging and talking in front of my child about numbing and sedating my child for 2 cavities - even though we clearly stated NO multiple times! And they make you sign a paper NOT TO TALK about this in front of your child, which apparently its not valid for them! When they were almost done WITHOUT anesthesia my child gave them a sign that he felt a little pain and they started again with their agenda asking my child FIRST, THEN me if he wants to get anesthesia?!!!!! All that developed in a little scene in front of my child asking him if he wants anesthesia and even though I was saying No they kept asking my child... and at that moment I had to give up and let them do whatever they want. They twisted the situation and took decision for my child against my will. Moving to another dentistry. lesson learned! read more

My 8 year old son had his first cavity and was extremely anxious about getting a filling. Dr. Rimi was able to fit my son into her schedule the next day since he was experiencing pain. I really appreciated that Dr. Rimi was able to see my son so quickly when other dentist offices did not have openings for several days out. When you have a child with a toothache, every day counts. Dr. Rimi made it a priority to fit my child in after I explained his symptoms. Honestly, I expected my son to scream and cry when it was time to get his cavity filled. None of that happened! Dr. Rimi and her staff were genuinely kind and explained the entire process to my son, while excluding things that could scare my son...like the shot. My son didn't even realize he received a local anesthetic. Also, I liked how my son was given a small mirror so that he could see his tooth being repaired. Dr. Rimi is a seasoned pro at putting my son at ease, and he walked away from the procedure without shedding a single tear! It was quite amazing! After the visit, my son talked nonstop about how he trusts Dr. Rimi, how she is so honest, and how she fixed his tooth. Most importantly, that his tooth doesn't hurt anymore. As a parent, could you ask for anything more from your child's dentist? Lastly, I really like the Hawaiian theme decor of her office which provides a fun atmosphere...no stark white sterile walls here! First of, I'd like to say the dental staff is great, Dr Kobayashi is wonderful. My review is strictly my experience from the front desk staff and the "office manager." My son has been going to them since he was 2yrs old. Front desk staff would not let me make an appt on the phone without paying for a $20 outstanding copay which was probably an oversight because they had the wrong contact info for me. Would it have been completely crazy to just pay the $20 when I physically came in for my appt for my 3 kids? I understand refusing service until you get your $20, but to not even set up an appt via phone? Let me just say, If someone can afford to go to a "PEDIATRIC DENIST" in "SAN RAMON" I'm sure they are well equipped to pay for a $20 bill. So....since they were so adamant to get their 20 bucks, I paid for it asap via phone and decided to take my business to another pediatric dentist down the street at Bollinger. The "office manager" did not provide any customer service nor service recovery. She's in the wrong town. To Dr. Kobayashi and other business investors: Your office manager just lost you 3 potential long time business. I was setting up a repeat appt for my 5yr old son and first time appt for my 2yr old twin girls and lost it over a $20 dispute. Was it really worth it fiscally? read more

I am so impressed with this office! ! I don't usually write yelp reviews but this pediatric dental office deserves one. My 12 yr old son needed emergency dental work done. Dr Kobayashi was on the spot excellent. My dentist wasn't available for my son's emergency teeth extractions so referred me to this office. They saw my son the same morning that I called, a Friday no less. I was so impressed with the office, staff and professionals. It's like we walked into a cloud. The waiting area is huge with an assortment of distractions for kids who might be nervous about the dentist, including a big screen showing Monster U movie. The patient rooms are spacious with a screen at each seat, showing Lego Movie. The office was immaculate. Then there's the staff. Extreme curtious, professional, knowledgeable and kid friendly; even to an almost 13 yr old. They were patient with my son when he had a bit of anxiety about having laughing gas for the first time. During the extractions the doctor talked to my son the whole time, explaining what she was doing. Even though my son is almost a teenager the staff never treated him like a little kid. They ammendable to any age, as I watched them work with little kids too. If I wasn't already an established patient at my current dentist, I would definitely change my son's dentist to this office. I have one daughter that has sensory issues and huge fear of dentist and Dr. Rhimi handled all of her anxiety and fear in the most accepting, calming, and professional demeanor, and didn't get her feathers ruffled at all! The amount of stars and words cannot express how grateful, appreciative, and thankful we are for Dr, Tami (aka Dr. Fujino), Lisa, Alicia, and the entire team at Pediatric Dentistry San Ramon. To add some context, I RARELY give reviews on yelp, but I felt the Bay Area, and anyone looking for a pediatric dentist, should hear about Dr. Tami and her team. We learned a few months ago that our 3 year old had cavities at another dentist office. We were completely devastated. We went to Pediatric Dentistry San Ramon after having a traumatizing experience with the other dentist office. We met with Dr. Rimi at first (who is equally awesome) and discussed our options and what was best treatment for our little one. We scheduled the treatment with Dr. Tami, and from that point on, we received the best care...ever. Dr. Tami listened to our concerns and continuously reassured us that our little one will be in good hands. Dr. Tami called us before the treatment to see if we had any remaining questions. During the treatment, she had the nurse update on the procedure. then after the treatment, she stuck around to make sure if our little one was ok...and if we, the parents, were ok. THEN...she called TWICE (over the weekend too!) after the treatment to check up on our little one. Who does that?? Dr. Tami does, that's who!!! Not only does this office treat kids well, but they also take good care of the nerve-wracking, anxious parents. And their office...it's the most kid friendly environment I have ever seen - individual tvs, books, toys, fish tanks, coffee/tea, and then the kids get little toys...what kid wouldn't love any of that (except for the coffee/tea part of course..lol). We were scheduled 1.5 days out with our usual dentist, Dr. Ozzie, and received a phone call to let us know their insurance process had changed - would have to pay visit up front, partial insurance reimbursement later. I understand and will miss Dr. Ozzie's wonderful practice. This, unfortunately, had us scrambling at the last minute to find another solid pediatric dentist on par to what we were used to. And found, we did. All of our requirements for a peds dentist checked out c Pediatric Dentistry San Ramon, not to mention, they were actually able to squeeze us in one day BEFORE our regularly schedule appt c Dr. Ozzie (essentially the next day - this may be a one-off due to cancellation, so don't bank on it, they're understandably busy). Win on many levels. They provide all necessary forms online, easy to complete prior to visit, so day of check-in was a breeze. They proactively requested records from Dr. Ozzie's office, so had those in hand for our consultation (this was a less than 1 day turnaround, mind you!). I'm going to say that, after years of going to our other peds dentist, this was the first time the kids actually listened to their dental hygienists, who were really spot on, both with engagement, education, and (this one's just for me) humor. We now have sand timers, which the kids actually use (correctly) and flossing is done just as the hygienists demonstrated (again, correctly). Maybe the kids were just ready, but I actually got a lot of good info from the teaching, too, so leaning towards the hygienists providing good dental education. We met c Dr. Tami, who is exactly my speed - friendly, informative, straightforward (we don't love excessive effusiveness, preferring her genuine understanding of how kids communicate), and sharing of their medical imagery (the kids and I enjoyed seeing their x-rays and explanation thereof). What stood out for me was that she addressed but didn't push ortho, which we sometimes got prior to and was a vague stressor even though I was leaning towards no. She provided common sense information, which spoke to the gut instincts I had all the years prior - and, what parent doesn't like their gut instinct validated? In hindsight, we covered a lot of ground during our appointment, but in fact, were out in what felt like no time, not that we were rushed at all - they accommodated my 101 questions. Except I forgot to ask whether they would take _me_ as a patient. We lean towards the rigid side of keeping masks on, COVID precautions/concerns - they satisfied on this front completely, keeping in mind that the kids had to unmask for cleanings and exam.
